We will definitely eat here again when we return.

We are visiting for the wine trail, but decided to try a few breweries along the way. We got a flight to sample 6 of the brews. The skyscraper and midnight whistle are divine! Our bartender was delightful and the beer garden was perfect.

Tried to eat at the Tin Mill twice on this busy Labor Day weekend. The restaurant was never open and there was no posted hours. Such a disappointment as we were really intrigued by the building.

Love the beer!!! Friendly, Laid Back, yet fun atmosphere!!! Food is ok… but I don’t go there for the Food!!! Oktoberfest here I come!!!

I had some reservations about coming here this past weekend given some of the beers I tried last time I was here. Luckily, I had a little liquid courage in me this past weekend and decided to give them a second chance. I’m SO glad I did! So much better than last time!
Similar to the first time I came, I decided to get the beer sampler. The sampler is $ 8 and comes with six 2 oz samples. They select 4 beers and then you get to choose 2 from a list of about 10 – 15 beers. I believe it comes with Red Caboose, Skyscraper, either Barrel Aged Stout or Midnight Whistle (I can’t remember), and a fourth beer (again, can’t remember). I thought the beers they selected were pretty good (but nothing out of the ordinary). With that said, I really enjoyed the two beers that I chose, which were the Pumpkin Lager and a berry beer (which I think is infused with wine). I LOVED the berry beer. I thought it was super refreshing and delicious. I also really enjoyed the Pumpkin Lager. The only two things that would move this place from 4 to 5 stars would be to let you select all 6 beers. I’m guessing they don’t do this because it is always so busy. The second would be to lower the price. Other than that, i really enjoyed this place.
In addition to beer, they have root beer and some OK/​pretty good food to choose from, such as pizza, sandwiches, and pretzels. I had pretzels with cheese, which were pretty good (but nothing amazing). They also have two big seating areas. They have an outdoor beer garden and then a great hall downstairs. I think you can also grab a game to play while you’re here.
In sum, much, MUCH better than last time… and definitely get the berry beer!

Friendly staff, beautiful building, but beers were lighter than expected. If you are a fan of lighter beers, this place will probably be a hit with you. Skip the cider. My husband ordered the sampler, and for example the IPA looked more like a wheat beer/​hefeweizen & lacked the body of better known brews.

Good tasting beer, neat building. Husband was especially fond of the doppelbock.

Good beer, good food. I highly recommend getting the skyscraper and midnight whistle. Toasted ravs and brat were delicious as well.

I’m from KC and we have quite a few up and coming breweries here. Having said that, Tin Mill is stellar. We went for a drink before dinner on a Saturday night and came back the next morning for another round! The first time, we each had the sample and each sample was better than the last. My boyfriend and I just looked at each other in astonishment as we tried down the line.
Having said all that, I will say that we did not eat here. Atmostphere wise, they are lacking slightly. Both times we were in, we were one of two couples. The music is 80s rock (think Styx and Boston) and there are board games in the corner for amusement. Strangely, the environment seemed somewhat sterile. There wasn’t a ton of personality. You can tell their focus is on making stellar beer– not on the décor. However, their beer is stellar to say the least. That alone makes this place a solid 5 star place as far as I’m concerned.

Will I go back? Probably not. Due to our planned lunch restaurant being closed we ended up here hungry. The menu is limited, essentially appetizers and pizza. We ordered a supreme pizza and the draft root beer (we were saving the sampling for after we ate). The pizza was average at best. It had lots of vegetables and meats but the cheese and tomato sauce were bland and the thin crust lacked flavor. The keg root beer was excellent.
After we ate we decided to take the self guided tour. If you have every taken a guided tour elsewhere you can skip this tour. It is nothing more than looking at tanks and reading brief paragraphs about the beer making process. If I did not have knowledge of the process this tour would have left me with more questions than answers.
We then decided to try a couple of beers. They charge $ 1.25 for a 5 oz. sample which is a bit of a turn-​off and limited the beers we tried. It would be nice if a smaller free sample was offered just to get a taste. The Red Caboose Pilsner and First Street Wheat were tried. While these were well crafted beers they did not sit well on my palate. I found the taste differential between the two beers to be limited as both had very strong flavors.
There was only one person working in the bar who also doubled as the cook. This lead to some slow service and some confusion at the bar.

The service and samplers were really good, I even purchased some to take home. The atmosphere was great and relaxed.

I’m not much of a beer drinker, but the overall feel of this brewery was great. Their was a (very) small self-​guided tour which was fun & lots of outdoor seating. I split the sampler and didn’t care for many of the beers.

Fun stop in Hermann for beer sampling. They typically have 5 – 6 brews on tap along with a root beer. I like being able to sample all or one prior to deciding on a pint. I enjoy their seasonals typically more than their standard brews, but they are all pretty good. Oddly enough, the pints here are more expensive than the bar up the way, but nonetheless, I like having the variety to try along with seeing the brew setup from behind a glass wall in the hallway by the main room.
They have a nice outdoor beer garden for relaxing in warm weather months. Overall, a nice break from all the wineries in the area.

This label and location offers so much but delivers so little. The Midnight Whistle was the highlight of the flight. The rest tasted like Bud Light except the First Street which was the absolute worse combination with clove as an ingredient. It literally tasted like someone fermented Grandma’s Christmas ham. Food selection is limited to nachos and a few other items. Service definitely lacks personality. S

I’m not a beer drinker, so I’ve only been here a few times when we’ve found ourselves in Hermann and I’m with beer drinkers.
In typical brewery fashion, they don’t have much for the non-​beer drinkers, which is totally their prerogative, but it would be nice if I could order something other than a sleeve of ritz crackers and a block of cheddar cheese or some stale nachos. It’s a very casual atmosphere, and has a nice rustic feel, but I’ve been to plenty of other breweries that are a bit more inviting.
It’s always a good chance to socialize, but I wouldn’t come back if I wasn’t already tagging along.

My new wife and I stopped into the Tin Mill while on our honeymoon. When I say stopped by, I mean that we were rained in there during a thunderstorm and had to drink our way through the afternoon. It was an incredible time.
The sampler platter at Tin Mill is reasonably priced and you are given a considerable sample of each type. My personal favorite was their dark Midnight beer (I forget the exact name). I enjoyed it so much a bought a jug and took it with us for the rest of the trip.
I found all of the beers quite tasty. They tasted exactly how you would expect such a small microbrewery’s beer to taste. Very flavorful and a lot of hops but quite enjoyable.
I found the service incredibly friendly as we talked to the very pregnant bartender for most of the afternoon. We took the self-​guided tour and learned a lot about the brewery’s history and beer-​making process. Honestly, it’s one of the most interesting spots in the Hermann area and I would rather spend an afternoon there than any winery.
I highly recommend Tin Mill.

Nice little brewpub in Hermann, Would be great if their menu was more diverse, but the beer is certainly worth the time. I greatly enjoyed my doppelbock. If I weren’t biking that day, I would have taken the time to try all of their beers… another day, perhaps!

The digs are kind of cool, in an old building a block off Main Street. AFter that, It kind of went downhill, with indifferent service, bare bones décor, very hoppy beer (not to our taste). On the plus side, it’s good that Hermann has someplace to get an interesting break from the wines, the live music was good and the air conditioner worked.
I wish they’d carry a few «sure things» or maybe some mixed drinks in addition to their own brews. We just didn’t like their beers much. As a standard of measure, we also didn’t care the the beer flight at Schlafly’s in St. Louis, so these might be great beers for some.

Great beer, and I loved the sampler, be warned, no food, so plan on just drinking.

We bought one sampler, which proved to be the perfect sampling size for three people. My bro & my mom didn’t care for the Hefeweizen, but otherwise we all liked the other beers, particularly the Maibock and the Skyscraper… I plan to look for the Skyscraper in stores. The brewery is cute, and on nice days you can take your sampler outside and sit at one of the tables on their patio. Nice way to end a day of wine tasting.
