The ice cream here is delicious, no doubt. However, over $ 2 for one scoop in a cup seems a little much to me. The floor was super, super dirty and the line took forever. This is a okay place to stop if you’re in the area and feel like treating yourself, but you’re not missing out on much if you skip it.

Stop the car honey… Gonna get me some good ol’ ice-cream… Talk about reminiscing. This was Just like I remembered. Only better because there are a ga-zillion flavors to pawn and drool over… For me. Lil taste of bubblegum, cotton candy, choc chip and the frosted, sprinkled pink circus animal cookies sealed it for me! I dunno if it’s their special scoops(which by the way run about $ 200), the overpowering lovely aroma of waffle cones or ?? But you can’t go wrong. Sorry Blue Bell, but somebody has to put a few of these lovely crack dens in the Texas hood ! Thanks for the fix Thrifty. ;-)

Decided to Unilocal the best ice cream joint here in Las Vegas. Found Thrifty ice cream parlor about 2 miles from home. The majority of other Unilocalers gave it very high ratings so off to the races. The portions are very large… a good thing… And the selections of flavors will allow everyone to find your favorites. I ordered a 2 scoop sunday with caramel topping, whipped cream and of course a cherry on top. The container could hardly hold it all. The only downside was the quality. Therefore only 4 stars. Without a doubt Baskin Robins is superior. However I would revisit this place as the price is very reasonable and the quantity generous.

It’s Thrifty Ice Cream! If you don’t know what that is than you’ve been living under a rock for far too long! I grew up on the stuff and Thrifty’s stores for that matter. They’re long gone, but the ice cream endured. No surprise, it’s damn tasty! Prices certainly have gone up, but since it’s now a free standing shop, it’s understandable. Love bringing my kids here on a hot So. NV summer night as well as a cold winter afternoon. Always lots of options, all of which do not disappoint. The only beverage options they have are AZ teas and some water, which suits me just fine. We had it for a while when CVS was in town, but they’re long gone also. Glad Thrifty saw a market here and came back to satisfy the Valleys need.

Found this little gem during one of my recent trips to Vegas. As a kid that grew up on Thrifty Ice-Cream I had to grab a scoop. Sure, there are still plenty of Rite Aide’s(formerly Thrifty) in the Bay Area that carry the brand. But this was the VERYFIRST time I’ve seen a stand alone shop. According to the staff they were the ONLY location like this on the West Coast. It was a nice little place with courteous staff and a fairly large selection of all time faves. I got my scoop of Chocolate Malted Crunch and left with a smile on my face.

When I first moved here I wasn’t a huge Thrifty fan. It took me three years to make my second visit even though it’s pretty close to my house. Now that I’ve been in Vegas for three years I realize that this is one of the best ice cream places in town since Vegas is seriously lacking in good ice cream. On my most recent visit I had the Pistachio Nut ice cream and really enjoyed it. There was plenty of pistachio taste with pieces of real pistachio inside the ice cream. The ice cream had a nice creamy texture with only a few pieces of solid ice. My husband had Circus Animal which was unique and he enjoyed this like I enjoyed mine. The shop offers a wide variety of flavors. I had forgotten how many different flavors they offer. Service was quick and the price was fair for the ice cream. The shop didn’t have the cleanest feel, but it doesn’t take that long to eat ice cream so it isn’t that big of a deal.

HAPPYNATIONALPISTACHIODAY Today, February 26th, 2016 was a day to celebrate the pistachio. It was National Pistachio Day. After work and dinner, I headed down to Thrifty Ice Cream to try a cake cone of pistachio ice cream. I am no stranger to the delicious taste of Thrifty ice cream. Recently Thrifty ice cream has been the feature ingredient of the delicious treats that Sweet Addiction had served me. Likewise I am no stranger to trying new places. This year I am adding a unique element of fun to Unilocaling about places by achieving to write some reviews on the National Days(everyday is one) that I celebrated. My rule is that they have to be a place that I never reviewed. These reviews will be in a «2016 National Day Unilocal Challenge» list. With that said, I had been a stranger to this Thrifty even though I must have driven by it hundreds of times. Parking by this Thrifty was as easy as 1−2−3. It is located by Pecos Road in the shopping center at the northwest corner of Wigwam. As soon as I walked inside, my olfactory scent was on overdrive as the overpowering candy shop fragrant smell greeted me. The winning attributes of the modern day ice cream shop are that sweet delicious smell with an upbeat environment. Three employees instantaneously greeted me. There were a sundry of flavors from chocolate malted krunch(sic!) to circus animal crackers. Ordering was a breeze because National Pistachio Day led me. This was an easy choice: a cake cone of pistachio ice cream. The late February weather was serene. I celebrated National Pistachio Day at a table outside overlooking Pecos Road. The cake cone holding the mutant square shaped scoop of pistachio ice cream was nearly $ 3. And it was well worth it. Just like my olfactory scent overload a few minutes previous, now my taste scent was on overload. Thrifty is quality ice cream that reunited me with pistachio, a flavor that I last tasted back in the Reagan administration. I enjoyed every lick of this delicious green ice cream interspersed with the pistachio nuts until it disappeared into history. With tomorrow being National Strawberry Day, it is tempting to return here for a large scoop of strawberry ice cream in a cake cone. I’ll probably pass, however, I’m sure that the temptation to enjoy a delicious scoop of ice cream could lead me back to this Thrifty in the future.

I love Thrifty ice cream! It definitely brings back memories from my childhood. The square scoops are a definite staple as well. The ice cream itself is smooth and creamy, no ice crystals. And it’s definitely packed with flavor. It doesn’t taste artificial at all. The lady working the day we visited was friendly and helpful. When I didn’t see my flavor in the display case, I asked if they were out and she gladly went to the back to grab a case of it. My favorites have always been coconut pineapple and chocolate chip. One day I’ll try something else, but for now I’ll just stick to the 2 flavors. That just gives me a reason to come back.

If you have ever had Hershey brand ice cream(mostly back East) or even Blue Bell, that’s what this ice cream is like. Also comparable to Baskin Robbins. No artisanal frou frou ice cream joint here. Just the kind of scoop shop you would find back in 1987. Employees were friendly.

Good ice cream for the price, nothing more or nothing less. It is exactly what people need if they want to grab some quick ice cream. However, don’t expect top quality or highly valued ingredients used in these desserts. They were meant for all groups to eat in conjunction with low prices that anyone can afford. Naturally, this is the ice cream of old timers that used to eat this on a daily basis but couldn’t afford the means to consistently purchase ice cream :)

Who decided to put a Thrifty Ice Cream next to my gym? Well, it’s there and conveniently so on National Ice Cream Cone Day, Sept. 22nd, 2015. I did go to the gym first, but all the talk about ice cream all day on social media had me craving a cone. I think I’ve only been to this Thrifty once before and that was a long time ago. I ended up buying a two-scooper of Pistachio Nut and Black Cherry: –the scoops are huge for what you pay, which is a mere $ 3.88 total for two scoops on a cone. –I felt kinda guilty eating my order in front of these little kids who came in and stared at me. They asked their parents for two scoops, but their parents said no. «Those scoops are huge, children!» Oops. Sorry, kids. Stop staring at me, though. Just another instance of YOLO, my friends.

My husband bought 2 other flavors– lime and black cherry. I could taste the artificial coloring and the Consistency of the ice cream tasted refrozen. Nothing was edible! Now Im upset bc that was our sweet budget for the week

It’s Thrifty’s ice cream. How could it be any less than 5 stars? No explanation needed.

Exactly what we needed on a rough day. Zach was awesome and recommended a fabulous flavor(dark cherry). He was all alone and still managed to offer superior customer service, and it was busy! Clean shop with lots of options. A little too quiet, though! We need some 50’s music up in here!

I was so bummed when the Rite Aids closed a few years back and I had thought that they had taken my precious Thrifty ice cream with then. But then i saw this place in my neighborhood and my hope was restored. Whats there not to like about Thrifty ice cream? They have all the nostalgic flavors from my childhood and its pretty cheap when compared to Coldstone and other spots. Ice cream is ice cream to me and I’m fine with a 2 scoop cone for about $ 3. The menu also features sundaes, shakes, ice cream sandwiches and similar frosty treats. The employees have always been friendly and more than happy to get you samples. The mint chocolate chip and butter pecan are my top two but stop by figure out your own favorites.

LOVE this place, been coming here for YEARS. They have variable flavors, including all the classics. My favorite used to be the Cherry Amaretto but ever since they came out with the Sea salt Caramel, I’ve been hooked on that. They also have sundaes, banana splits & shakes on their menu in case ice cream isn’t your thing. This place is exceptional, and it’s not a waste of money! :) This place closes at 10pm, so hurry in and grab your treats(especially in this heat!)

I grew up on the East Coast. Carvel was my go-to growing up. Minus Cookie Puss and Fudgie the Whale, this place is as close as it gets. Definitely, my mainstay on the West Coast. Glad to have found this local branch. Great Flavors. Make their waffle cones fresh. I like there cool ice cream scoop too. comes out in a cylinder shape. Trés Fresh.

I have fell in love with the ice cream at this place it’s so good and tastes so homemade. I can almost picture someone in the back churning out each flavor. My favorite is the pineapple coconut and the mint chip. They are super affordable if you have multiple kids and nothing tastes artificial with their flavors. The inside is clean every time we come for a after dinner treat, and they are always fully stocked in choices. The only down side is the staff they are not very friendly or interactive with the customers, they don’t ask if it’s your first time, do you want to try any flavors, nothing. They are very un-attentive and the last 2 times we have been there we have had to get their attention to let them know we were ready to order. One of them here boyfriend was there so she was more concerned with what he was doing outside then when he came in they were in her phone. The other girl working was in the back so she was of no help either. A+ on the product D– on the employee’s

Tanya was very pleasant and friendly when we were there. She was very informative about the flavors of ice creams when we asked her. She was working alone and she should have someone there to assist her. Thanks for being the voice of thrifty ice cream. Very clean store. See you soon. 5 stars for Tanya!
