Fantastic food! I got the Lamb with Creamy Basil Sauce(the actual name escapes me), and it was exceptional. Well balanced flavors, a hint of mint, mild spice that doesn’t overwhelm, and gorgeous presentation. A wide variety of spring and summer vegetables and curried rice finish it off for a tasty combination. Great stop if you pass through Helen for some reason or find yourself popping in for a weekend stay.

Really great food; especially if you want something other than German cuisine. You won’t find it on the main drag, but it’s worth finding!

Good food and friendly staff. Food was a bit pricey but everything is pricey in Helen as it appears. I got shrimp fried rice and lemonade which was delicious and my wife got a couple different types of sushi which she loved. Keep it up!

If you’re in Sautee Nacoochee or Helen, GA, you’re severely limited in your dining options. Thanks to Unilocal,I stumbled across Spice 55, and I’m so glad we decided to check it out. The restaurant itself is pretty standard when it comes to decorating, but you’re already in Helen, so I’m assuming ambiance is not what you’re going for anyways. Every dish we had was very good and fairly cheap. We had 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 drinks for just under $ 50. Seriously. We almost came back a second night in a row! We ordered the tuna bombs which had(surprisingly) really fresh tuna in individual crispy shells. There was some other good stuff involved, so if you’re a sashimi lover, order it. The calamari was the appetizer special, and while they were a bit on the rubbery side, still good. My bf got the scallops and mango dish — really an odd sounding combination, but it was very good. I got the pad Thai. It was a healthy portion, and I couldn’t finish it! The only negative thing is I added the chicken and it had no flavor. I would skip adding the chicken next time and add another protein or do no meat. We also had two of their premium cocktails(the prices aren’t listed but they were around $ 7 — for the top shelf stuff… seriously!). I had the margarita and it was fantastic. Had I known they were that cheap, I would have definitely ordered another because I had a driver! Bottom line, if you’re in there area and you like Asian cuisine, make a point to check out Spice 55!

Friendly staff and great service as we ate late lunch. Wonderful Eruption roll, dragon heart: excellent; Crazy Red made with soy paper in place of seaweed for picky eater: incredible sushi, so little room for anything other than calamari appetizer. This is a wonderful addition to Helens restaurant choices and our favorite for this visit.

After after eating at a few of the tourist centered restaurants we fortunately tried spice 55. The sushi here was perfect. Try the crazy red. Also the basil spring rolls and calamari are awesome.

Let me first start with the positives. The people are friendly and welcoming and food came out fairly quickly. Now on to the bad. And I only post this in hopes that they will take this as an opportunity to improve. I have been to many Thai restaurants in my life and I have to say this is probably the worst I’ve ever had. The food was poorly executed and way too expensive for what you get. Now I understand this is Helen, GA so having Thai/Sushi in the middle of Helen is not going to be authentic BUT that does not excuse them for having terribly cooked food. I’m sure some of there food is ok but do not get what I ordered. First I ordered the beef salad appetizer and the smell was so horrible it smelled like something had died or the meat had gone bad. There was something white sprinkled on it which also made it unappealing because it looked like maggot eggs. I had the Panang curry with shrimp and the shrimp was so undercooked it still had the gray translucent color to it. I was fighting to eat it because it was mushy and slimy in texture. On top of that the green beans which was pretty much the only vegetable in the curry was completely undercooked. Eating mushy shrimp with crunchy raw greenbeans especially did not go well together. The curry itself was edible but tasted like something that came out of a can. The basics that every restaurant should have is cooking and presenting their food properly. I really wanted to like this place but I will definitely not be coming here again.

I eat here at least once every time I visit Helen and go for the Red Hot Chili Pepper Roll and the Helen on the Beach Roll. Really enough for two people. Enjoyed meeting the owners and learned they have two other places.

«What is this… a German village? In the Georgia mountains?» «Yep! Ok, let’s find a place to eat!» «How about that Thai/Sushi combination place? You know, because thai/sushi, in the mountains, this far inland, in a tourist trap town… what could go wrong?» Spice 55 surprised us by being good, and not being overpriced remarkably. It wasn’t the best sushi, but it was solid, and better than the cruddy traps that dot the main drag in Alpine Valley. Also they have an excellent punch drink, served in a huuuge glass, that just made my day.

I cannot say enough about this place. My most favorite place to eat in town. It gets busy but it’s worth the wait. Trust me. The Helen on the beach roll. Yum

Uhhhhhhh awesome. Best food my wife and have had out in a while. The lady got the Pad Puk with Chicken(nice and light flavor that keeps you coming back for more) and I got the Pad Kee Mao noodle dish with chicken. So good. Noodles were delicious and it left that little bit of spice on the lips plus the veggies were fresh and plentiful. Great ambience and food for a cold night in the Alpines…

Excellent sashimi. Pad Thai was very good. Price was reasonable. Service was friendly. Good price performer. Recommended, if you’re in the mood for a little Thai and a little sushi/sashimi.

We ordered the pad kee Mao and the duck salad. I was a little disappointed to hear that the spicy beef salad on top of papaya is no longer available, but I was still happy with the duck salad. It was slightly too salty but the proportion size was perfect. The pad kee Mao was perfect and we have no complaints there! Again, perfect proportion size and tons of noodles with the a good proportion of beef and vegetables.

Food was pretty good but service was slow and we were the only ones in the whole place, so not sure why. Not bad but probably wouldn’t go back.

This is the BEST Thai restaurant in Helen! Had my birthday dinner here! The Pineapple chicken, that comes served in a half of a pineapple, is to die for. Had the Calamari which was good also! Every time we come to Helen, we eat here. Yummy food! Service was great too!

This place is surprisingly awesome! I’m a Helen local, and when I found out there was a Thai restaurant here, I was super excited to see a new eclectic place in town. They have a mixture between Thai, Japanese & Indian and all of it is equally delicious. The service is always on point and the staff is super friendly. You can never go wrong with the Pad Thai. Just had the Massman Curry, and it was great. The Panang Curry is super delicious, too! Seaweed salad is fresh and crisp. They have a pretty good selection of alcohol, too! If you’re into this kind of food, it’s a must try!

This is one of the best experiences in Helen. I didn’t want the disappointment of mock German food(Bavarian — Bayerisch) attempting to gouge your wallets and fool your tongue. German food is so much better than what is offered in Helen. Spice 55 delivers a nice change. The only letdown was the sign they have walking in at the host station that basically states if you leave a part of your ticket blank they will automatically add 18% gratuity to it for you. That sounds like forgery. At best it is extremely tacky to have something like that there. The dining area is very nice. The lighting and everything was very relaxing and the tables and seating were spacious and comfortable. The pricing is a little higher than most places you might visit, but really on par or better than most places in Helen. The water was really good here. It was served cold in a nice glass and really great to drink after a long day in the summer sun. It took us a bit of looking at the menu and talking with the waiter before we decided on what we wanted. We actually swapped waiters at one point, which was fine. Bryan(with a Y as he stated) had only been working here for four days, but he did an excellent job. He checked to see if we could get the spicy tuna roll fried and if there would be a charge. He checked and informed us that we could and there would be no charge. It turned out great! He even brought us some eel sauce on the side to pair with the spicy mayo and it was just a great roll. We also tried the curry puffs they had on the specials menu. It was very interesting, but also very confusing. I took a bite and I was thinking about how heavy the puff was and how odd it was paired with a sauce that seemed sweet and full of vinegar. In fact, the sauce was a likely combo of vinegar, cucumber, red onion, sugar, and cilantro. We took the cilantro out and my wife bravely poured the sauce on her puff and advised me to try it. I gave it a shot and I wasn’t disappointed. It was much better with the sauce on it. My wife had the Pad Kee Mao which consisted of minced chicken, noodles, and lots of spices. It was done extremely well and everything balanced out nicely. It had bits of spice in it and one of them caught me a little off guard, but in a good way. If you’re not into spicy things you should avoid this dish! Finally, I had the mango shrimp and scallop special. It was really good. The shrimp and scallops were cooked to perfection! The scallops were bouncy and absorbed the mango sauce well. The shrimp had the tails still on(my only gripe), but they were also cooked well and still full of flavor. The service was great and the food was amazing. It was refreshing after so many disappointments in Helen.

Best friend: «Do you want to meet us for an early dinner on your drive back to Atlanta?» Me: «Sure, I would love to. Where?» Best friend: «There’s this great Thai place we go to in Helen.» Me: …silence…silence…silence…“Really? Helen?“ If you’ve ever been to Helen, you know it is to North Georgia what Myrtle Beach is to South Carolina. Yes, that’s right. Helen is the Redneck Riviera of the mountains. It’s a German themed tourist town complete with tubing and terrible food. I was frankly terrified about eating Thai food in Helen. I was also willing to take the risk to break up my four hour drive back to Atlanta. It was unseasonably warm, so we had dinner out on the patio. Spice 55 offers both Thai and sushi. They also have a full bar with a decent wine list, which I didn’t try whilst driving home to Atlanta. We split crab rangoons and edamame for an appetizer. Both were spot on apps. My friend and I each had the chicken pad thai. It was perfectly flavorful and had just the right amount of peanuts. Her husband had a spicy beef pad thai and some sort of specialty crunch roll. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Basically if you ever find yourself in Helen, do yourself a favor and eat at Spice 55. It’s definitely the only good restaurant I’ve been to in Helen. I’ll be back whenever I’m up this way again.
