Since moving to Santa Rosa I had been craving a lamb gyro like crazy. I really missed my favorite place from Napa, Small World, and a co-worker told me about this little restaurant. It was fantastic. Service was excellent and the food was even better. I left full and happy after having one of the best gyro’s I have ever had. When my mom comes out to visit for my birthday I plan to have her take me here for it!

Excellent food in a pleasant, casual environment. About 100 ft. south of the town square, it’s sheltered from hustle and bustle, yet close to the shopping and activities there. Our server was pleasant and efficient. The highlight, however was the food! Great taste and ample portions.(Next time we’ll opt for either an appetizer or an entire!) If you like Greek food, this is a worthwhile destination,

Had a gyro salad and it was very tasty. All the ingredients seemed fresh except for the out of season tomatoes. Really enjoyed it. Wife got a gyro and that was good as well.

I had a great experience here. The food was good. Fresh ingredients, very authentic, well made and flavorful. The ambiance was nice. Very relaxing and welcoming. Modern décor with a Greek flare. The service was good. The server did offer some suggestions on some of the food as I was inexperienced with a Greek menu. I did like that they left a bottle water at the table. I definitely will be back.

The baklava with ice cream dessert is really really good. So it the gyro. Outdoor patio and pet friendly.

This food’s flavor had me feeling like I was literally in Greece. Hubby had the lamb gyro a la carte, I myself enjoyed the lamb meatballs. Best appetizer: kopansti dip! A must get! Mouth watering.

Chicken souvlaki here is very good. Their tsatziki is amazing. Friendly service. Good value from money. Yum yum for me!

I really enjoy the food here! I am a gluten-free eater(not by choice), so you should know that their gyro is NOTGF. I get their chicken souvlaki skewers served with Greek salad. The salad is mainly big fresh chunks of cucumbers and tomatoes, less on the lettuc-ey side. The dressing is light and clean, I don’t feel weighted down. The food is consistently good here, so I don’t have to worry about who’s cooking in the back and trying to remember what days the food is good haha Why four stars instead of five? They have the weirdest schedule! Only open 12 – 9PM from Thursdays to Sundays. I live close by and there are definite Wednesdays or Mondays that I am craving my Mediterranean fix and can’t get any! I have never heard of a restaurant that fall’s within Taverna’s price point that can afford to be closed three days a week.

Dined here for the first time on Saturday night. I made reservations for 7pm, which sadly weren’t needed — no one was in the restaurant! I’m not sure why, because the atmosphere was cozy and the food and service were delightful. I had a Greek wine(Daphne and Chloe) and the waitress was very helpful in my decision making. We had Dolmas and Saganaki for appetizers and both were very flavorful and clearly homemade. I had the half Moussaka and a Greek salad. The Greek salad was delicious, and fresh. The Moussaka had a delicious bechamel and very flavorful meat. I only wish there was a tad more eggplant. My boyfriend had the Souvlaki plate with lamb and rice pilaf. Also delicious! For dessert we shared some complementary(I suppose that is the benefit of an empty restaurant) macaroons and baklava. The Baklava was outstanding with notes of cinnamon in addition to the traditional honey flavor. We will definitely be back — it was a great low-key setting in Healdsburg and definitely fills the Sonoma County void for Greek food!

Cute Greek joint. Excellent hummus and very good Greek salad but ask for it without the lettuce. No self respecting Greek will have lettuce in their salad. Gyro is pretty standard but very clean, pleasant servers and exceptionally clean rest rooms which is the sign of a good establishment. Give it a try.

Such a beautiful, relaxing and peaceful ambiance. We always sit outside, and I try to sit near the beautiful mural of Greece. We’ve always had great service. The portions are served well and don’t forget the tzatziki!

The service was perfect: We asked for separate checks for 9 people and were cheerfully accommodated; our server was friendly, had all the answers to our questions, and cleared finished dishes like a ninja. The food was excellent. I got a gyro with fries. The fries were great; served hot with just the right amount of crunch and perfectly salted. The gyro was exactly what I expected(in the best possible way). Fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere was very nice. We at at an outdoor table and it’s like an oasis. Bright, colorful, clean and nicely shaded. I will absolutely return.

Was really looking forward to eat middle eastern/Greek food. Unfortunately the food taste was highly disappointing. Nothing other than the tiny musaka dish was good. Also, they charge extra for pita bread that should be part of the 16 $ appetizer plate. As a finale, their credit card system didn’t work so we had to wait for a while to get a manual authorization.

Great food. The Greek coffee was an experience! Service was great. Love the atmosphere! Outdoor seating is comfortable even in the cold. Dessert is a must! Try the baklava sunday!

Went here last night with a large group — we actually had the entire restaurant reserved for a family style meal. Here is the good and the not-so-good: Good — we really liked nearly all the dishes and we tasted alot. Dolmas, spanikopita, feta, taztziki — all quite fresh and traditional. A lovely pear and pepper spinach salad. Then lamb and chicken skewers — they were ok but not as flavorful as I like. And a lovely moussakka. Traditional Baklava for dessert — not quite as traditional, more nuts and filling with a light philo topping — not as much honey as usual but quite tasty. So all in all we liked the food and would probably return for a meal — especially since this kind of food is difficult to find. The not-so-good — the service was a mess. Perhaps they are not used to handling this kind of a meal and crowd — about 55 of us. They brought out all the appetizers separately over time and brought out the tzatziki last when we had not more pita to eat with it. Their wine service was not done in a timely manner and they actually ran out of some wines that were included in our meal So perhaps if one goes just with a couple people for a meal, the service issue — would not be an issue.

Ordered food to go today. We ordered all their«award winning dishes,» ie. Sausage plate, watermelon salad plus other dishes. A few side were missing:(Frankly it was lack luster across the board and overly priced. On the positive side, the gyro was good, but stingy on the meat. The baklava was the high light.

It’s a decent place with decent portions. Probably better for lunch than dinner for me.

Came here on the last Saturday of the month, when they feature bellydancing, Greek music and dancing on the patio. Staff was super friendly and helpful, and the food was good, standard Greek fare for reasonable prices. I had the chicken souvlaki($ 16), which came with Greek salad, fries and pita. A good amount of food for the price! Our table also shared a bottle of Retsina, a mezze plate and some assorted dips, all of which were good. Others in my party had the gyro salad, moussaka, lamb souvlaki and the gyro wrap… all of which were deemed good. Bill for 5 people was $ 150, which I felt was reasonable considering the atmosphere(music) and service. We dined alfresco on the nicely appointed patio… great ambiance! Definitely recommended!

Eaten here 3 times. Clean food. Not over oily like Greek food is in Greece. Menu has all the usual Greek suspects: Spanakopita, lamb sausage, eggplant, pita bread, spicy yogurt dips, kalamata olives, chopped green salad & meze variety plates. Service is friendly. Speed of service is good. Prep time is fast and delivery of food to table averages 10 minutes when the restaurant is not crowded. Most of the tables are on the outdoor patio. It’s covered and has a windscreen, so the weather is not a bad factor when dining. My only complaint, the wine pours are outright stingy. For $ 9 I got a glass of local fairly cheap Rose’, the pour should be more than the 3.5 ounces that I got. I did not complain, my bad. My wife likes to eat here for the salad.(She’s on a weight loss regimen). I’m not a big fan of Greek food flavors and contents. If I never returned here, my heart would not be broken.
