Honestly, the one star is for the friendly and helpful staff and the average complementary breakfast. The place is a typical WV product, off a creepy dirt road, off the highway. You literally do begin to fear for your life while driving here. The walls of the rooms are unbelievably thin and you hear everything that goes on around you. I came with a group of three people and none of us in completely different rooms and floors got any sleep because of this! You literally hear every conversation, bump and foot step anyone makes. Probably one of the worst hotel stays I’ve ever had, which is sad because as stated before the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The building is just cheaply made. Needless to say, I ended up attending my graduation ceremony groggy and ready for a nap… can you say miserable?

On my way to Kentucky with my most bestest half and needed a break, stopped here as it was the closest place up next… We did try to find a place in friendsville Maryland but it was down a dirt road and your not getting me to drive down a dirt road to pay for a place to sleep. It reminded me of a bad movie where things don’t end well, so we continued on to this place. We got the room with two queen beds the, lady told me it would be $ 84. We quickly paid and came up to our room which seems spacious due to extensive mirroring on the walls. There is a microwave the tiny refrigerator and a giant Normas CRTTV perched above some closet thing. The lighting above the bedding is like turning on the sun… Reflecting back on us at infinity through all the mirroring back and forth on the walls. My back was bothering me after the drive & I decided to take a hot shower. to loosen up the stiff muscles around my neck region. I opened up the tiny package of soap… I didn’t even touch it to myself and started to lather it in the washcloth then I saw there was a small«coarse» hair molded within the bar of soap.(See attached picture.) I quickly decided it would be best to use the bar of soap I brought with me. I was under the impression that no pube filled soaps would be included in the price. The water pressure was adequate and warm. We are on the third floor. All & all I would say it’s a average value, it was close to where we were without driving on dirt roads, but the road to this building is potholed pretty bad. It was drivable & in the dark the lines are not marked very well on the road, probably because of salting for snows past. So if you’re tired and you’re close by you might as well come here and sleep, or head to friendsville and try that 4×4 of yours out. In any case good luck & bring your own soap. –M323 Peace Out

Wanting to visit Fallingwater, the Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece in southwestern Pennsylvania, my wife made online reservations for us at this Microtel. I was driving and she was navigating — AND we had a GPS for backup. What could possibly go wrong? Well, their address didn’t show up on our GPS, and our backup, Droid-based GPS couldn’t get a signal in that part of West Virginia. My wife made several calls to the hotel asking for directions, and each time they would give only part of what we needed to know. It was like playing 20 questions, only at the end of a very long day!(It took 4 phone calls to finally get us there.) As for the hotel, once we found it: It was clean, well lit, and almost comfortable(the room was small enough that the queen sized bed left little room on either side.) Also, there were few places to plug in our cell phone chargers, and the lamp on my nightstand had a cord that just barely reached the nearest plug. I had to wait until I was in bed before I plugged it in, so that I wouldn’t trip over the cord. The breakfast selection was somewhat meager on the morning we left, and since my wife is on a gluten-free diet, we had to drive 7 miles to get to the nearest diner.

My fiancée and I stayed here for the night on a drive from DC to Ohio. It was the only hotel within a fairly substantial radius that we could find right off the highway. The room was tiny(as Microtels always are) but very clean. The walls were thin and since we were next to the lobby there was lots of activity all night, and I could hear all of it. We didn’t stay in the area the next day, since we had a long drive, but there aren’t a ton of places in the area to eat. There is a pretty substantial complimentary breakfast, with bagels, toast, hard boiled eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal and coffee. One thing to be aware of is that it is close to a federal prison. But I never felt unsafe.
