My favorite sushi spot in the bay! I’ve been coming for YEARS. Great rolls, great appetizers and great drinks. Always amazing service and never a long wait. I highly recommend!

Nice hidden gem. Always quiet, food is ALWAYS on point… granted I have only been here twice, but so far so good! A sure bet is the bento, you can sample pretty much what you want then when you come back, you can go hog wild on whatever you liked. I had the tempura shrimp and veggies, perfectly cooked and crunchy tempura is always a good sign that the person cooking knows what they are doing. Had the teriyaki beef and pork tonkatsu, again, the quality on point. Beef was tender, sauce not too heavy. Pork was soft and had that nice panko breading that was crunchy and yummy. The salad with the miso dressing, wow. I know it’s just veggies, but wow… that dressing is always sooooo good! I also had the tuna sashimi, no fishy smell, and the texture and taste… they are using the real deal here folks! The spot is a little hidden off the main street, but well worth the search.

Sam is the man. Never had sushi from some one who spent their childhood just to become a sushi chef. Makes all his own sauce’s he funny as hell and will always remember your name. I feel welcomed like a king every time I walk in his place. Never ate sushi as good as this place anywhere. Haven’t seen Sam in two years walk in and remembers the last conversation we had in detail.

I’m a chef and a foodie and NOT picky at all. Stay away from this place. I spent $ 100 on 4 people and the quality was very poor!!! Not worth my $. I wasted a lot of $ there as well as my time. This place is dead!

It’s the neighborhood spot you go to becuase its fast amd easy and near you. It is generally okay sushi. Not the best, not the worst. Friendly folks, consistent, and moderately priced. It’s down the street from work and I’m grateful there’s anything near hear other than weiner schnitzel. Jussayin.

I thought the food was average, the miso soup was quite salty. I didn’t like the dressing on the salad that came with the meal — maybe it was just me but I prefer the sweet ginger sauce that some other Japanese restaurants use. Sushi was pretty good though. BTW, good service.

Had some food delivered. Simple cucumbers – all vinegar – threw out. Chicken teriyaki and tempura. The bag was dripping all over the floor. The cartons were open. Unsanitary, and not edible. Never again!!!

Probably the least favorite sushi place I been to. The owners are very nice but the food is not tasty. I ordered two rolls and a chicken sukiyaki. I couldn’t eat more than two pieces. The ingredients weren’t fresh and was assembled sloppy. Maybe it was just the day I went but I won’t be coming here. However, the service was very nice.

If you’re going to eat here, order take out. I hate eating here in the restaurant. First off, you’ll stand by the door confused if that’s where you wait for a table. About 5 – 10 minutes will pass before anyone will acknowledge you. There’s 1 server, and 1 sushi chef on duty. Does not matter what time of day, or what day of the week you visit. It’s always the same. When you finally get to your table, prepare to stare at the menu for 10 – 15 min before the waitress visits your table. She’ll expect you to order everything at once: drinks, food, etc. Need a refill? Want to order more food? Good luck! You have a better chance at getting up and getting it yourself. Your drinks will arrive when dinner arrives. Maybe. Tonight, I didn’t get my water or tea until after dinner arrived, after I had inquired 3x about it. What a joke! The food is good though! That’s why I order it to go. It’s good food, lousy service, cheap menus.

Not what it used to be unfortunatly. Portions are small, tempura is touch and go some times they use tired veggies. Not much dressing on the salad. Sushi is still pretty good though.

I officially have 19 check-ins here. The first time we went, I posted about the window and the smell where we were sitting and it has since come to my attention, it was something outside the window. We are HUGE fans of this place and chef Sam, whom we have gotten o know very well, is an amazing and talented chef. He loves his customers, has tons of regulars, including us, and is always so happy to serve us. The chicken UDON is OMG!!! As is the OMG roll… We always eat sushi, sashimi, and a roll or two for dinner, along with a great bottle of Karatambe Sake and a Kloud beer. Before we leave, we order the chicken udon to take home and have for breakfast the next day. We love Sapporo and are regulars every Thursday or Friday night and have been known to frequent it on Wednesday and come back again the next day. You feel like family here and everyone who eats here is awesome. We are fairly new to Cali(5months) and have made some fun new friends with the patrons sitting next to us as the sushi bar. EXCELLENTEXCELLENT place! Check it out for the best sushi in Hayward, CA.

We used to come here all the time and we loved this place. But we went for dinner and service was horrible forgetting utensils and drinks. My kids usually order the chicken teriyaki /California roll combo and share but the plate they brought out looked like it was just a kids size this time. Only one of my kids had a drink. Then the waitress told me my roll was on the house cauae ahe messed up and the charged me for it.

She literally harassed us out of no where like crazy if she really wants tips she wants tips she should have at least come ask us how we were doing!!! Sam never disappoints. We ordered the Sashimi Party plate, and as a family of 4, we struggled to finish it — too full! Hands down, this is our #1 sushi spot.

The restaurant has been opened for a while. We had tried once very long time ago, but it was never disappointed as this time. As we entered, the wall is decorated with old Polaroid photos of customers. The place looks run-down, our table was sticky and there was a used napkin. The rice falls off the sushi roll which was saturated with unnecessary sauce. The deep fried soft-shell crab in the spider roll was cold. The tuna sashimi was not fresh at all. Very disappointing.

Six of us came here to have dinner this past Sunday. We showed up about 7pm and were immediately seated. Service was ridiculously prompt! Even when one of us knocked his glass of water onto the floor, they were very quick to clean it up and reassured my friend that he wasn’t an idiot. I ordered the tempura combination dinner, Boyfriend ordered the beef teriyaki dinner and we split an Alaska roll. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of food I received with my order! There were 4 pieces of shrimp tempura along with what seemed like another 7 – 10 pieces of vegetable tempura. I was in heaven. The beef teriyaki was decent. Flavorful, but nothing about it seemed unique from any other beef teriyaki you would get elsewhere. The Alaska roll was pretty good but, also, would not stand out if compared to the same roll from another restaurant. Overall, it was a decent experience. Service was prompt and almost overly helpful and the food was more than adequate in terms of being filling, but I would say that this place lacked a uniqueness that would make it stand out in my mind as a «must come back» kind of place. They’re decent for what they are, but aren’t necessarily outstanding enough to merit anticipated return trips.

I have to give crazy Sam a 4 star!!! He’s THE best and we always have great service, great food and even better company w/Sammi!!! He’s a crack up! Can’t remember if I’ve Unilocaled them before but one of my favorites is the Maki Mono Spicy Tuna. I love it spicy so… it’s the perfect amount of kick AND no other Japanese restaurant(that I’ve been to anyways) loads the roll with tuna like Sam does but also puts more on the top! Very generous. Great prices! More of my favorites are the Poki Salad YUM, raw oysters — prepared like nobody else does — very original, hamachi sushi of course, mussels — yum, tempura shrimp… the list goes on and on. everything is wonderful. I love that he’ll take a photo of ya too and post it on the wall. We’ve got 2 pics now! =)
