I MISSYOUJOSE!!! I moved away from Hayward and was really sad when I came back to find my FAV Taqueria was closed. Now their is a new«Taqueria» if that’s what you want to call it in its place. They just don’t do it like Jose Does. I had been coming there since I was in High school, Even had a super burrito the day I went into labor with my daughter. I am glad to hear he is still in business and will be making the trip to Fremont soon to grub on his yummy flautas and beans and rice. He is an amazing person and does make you feel at home, his food is always the best. See you soon Jose :)

OK, so I’ve cried wolf on this once, but I talked to Jose personally and he says Google maps accidentally got a residential address as his business. But I’m proud to re-direct any business to his new address, 4949 Stevenson Blvd. Suite D Fremont, CA94538 Get off 880 at Stevenson, head east one block to Blacow, he’s right next to Grocery Outlet. I walked in and he recognized me in about 5 seconds! Same old Jose, same amazing food! Munched down me old fav, the chili verde super burrito w/black beans. It was… indescribable. Please patronize!!! This food is too good to go away again!!!

Meza is now in Fremont(off Stevenson’s, next to Grocery Outlet). Hayward’s lost, Fremont’s gain. Excellent burritoes, salsa and chips!

Man I wish this place was still around. Jose was great and he made THEBEST fish tacos! I loved the super burritos, too! The sign read something like… Burritos the size of your head with fine print saying… Actual head size may vary. That was great. This was my goto taqueria. Gonna miss those fish tacos.

Awesome! Since I started working in Hayward, I had yet to find a taqueria that I thought was pretty good. I mean, I could have gone to La Vics, but that’s all the way on the other side of Hayward. So one day I found this place, & it was AWESOME! I treated myself to a burrito every Friday. Anyways, after a couple months, the place suddenly closed. There was a sign on the front of the building saying it had been shut down. This drove me crazy! I couldn’t believe they had closed. I had made friends with the owner & just started loving this place. A couple months passed & I noticed they had never taken the sign down. To my amazement, a few weeks later, they opened up! I went it, ordered a burrito & it tasted GREAT. I mean, it wasn’t the same, but it was still pretty damn good. They’ll put jalapeño’s in your burrito & use the red sauce instead of the picante.

Decent prices. Friendly service. A burrito as big as your head. I used to stop by this place sometimes after going to the Lucky’s in the plaza. The owner was always a really pleasant guy, friendly and constantly joking around. All of the meats were good and juicy, and the burrito as big as your head offering was a great novelty(basically two tortillas wrapped into each other to make a super long burrito). You could also have it made with each half filled with a different meat. I am sorry to see it close down, and glad I got some pics of the monster burritos for remembrance. =)

Just found out Meza Taqueria closed up shop. What more is there to live for?! I loved this place not only for the novelty of getting a «burrito the size of your head,» but because Jose, the owner, is such a genuinely friendly guy.

Stopped to pick up some groceries nearby and noticed that Meza is closed. I drove over and parked to peek in the window to confirm and was very disappointed to see the place cleared out. A real lose of a great little place with a very nice owner. Will miss stopping here for a bite after shopping.

Average. I ordered the Iguana Nachos with Chili Verde meat. The pork wasn’t shredded like I usually expect and prefer, but cubed. Jose, the very nice man that works the counter(and probably the owner?), really packed on the ingredients. It was pretty good, despite the cubed Chili Verde. Split the mini super burrito with my friend. It was okay. Although, the mini burritos here aren’t really mini, but regular sized. The red salsa sauce thingy is spicy and super yummy when poured on your burrito.

Cool little taqueria. I went for a breakfast burrito last week and was pleasantly surprised to find fantastic mexican food! I just moved to the bay area from LA and have been jonesing for a good burrito place thats NOT in the city(I love the city, but I dont want to drive all the way in for a quick burrito!) The guy behind the counter when I got there was a little surly(thus 4 stars and not 5) and seemed a little put out when I asked him to make me a breakfast burrito with no meat in it, but while I was waiting for my food an older gentleman came in, and he was SUPER friendly and jumped right behind the counter and helped finish up my order(I think this must be Mr. Meza, based on notes in previous reviews). The burrito was HUGE and most excellent. I will definitely be headed back here soon!

When I lived on that side of town, I would go there once every week or two. Now I go once every month or two. I usually get the veggie burrito and my hunny gets the chicken burrito or the steak tacos. The service is always great, even when Jose(the owner) isn’t there. They started serving breakfast last year sometime. The breakfast is cheap and yummy. So, give them a try!

Was on the way home and decided to stop off at Meza Taqueria for dinner. Meza Taqueria is a nice place in the corner of strip mall. You have to look for the place because it’s very easy to miss. But place looked clean and busy when I visitied so everything was off to a good start. This is your typical family run taqueria. The offer a good selection of mexican food to choose from such as tacos, burritos, etc. I believe they advertise here burritos the size of your head, so I was expecting big portion size here. Prices here are on the high side for this area but generally speaking most items fall between the $ 6 — $ 10 range. I didn’t see any specials and they do offer a good amount of meat options for you. I decided to get the Chicken Burrito to go. Probably waited about 5 minutes and got my burrito. Got in my car and off I went. When I got home found out I got no chips! I mean come on, NOCHIPS!!! I’m starting to get visions Chiptole here. I just came to the fist Mom & Pop taqueria that doesn’t give you chips with you meal. As I looked at the burrito, I wasn’t impressed. For a place that advertises«Burritos the size of your head» and you pay more here, I got your average size burrito, probably just a little bit bigger than a Coke Can. When I bit in, they gave me a hamburger meat burrito instead of chicken. And if this was the chicken, who grounds up chicken? Flavor wise, it was ok, though it was very soupy and really didn’t have much punch to it. Just so so disappointed in my meal. Overall no chips and giving me a hamburger meat burrito puts Meza Taqueria at the bottom for me. The only thing that saved Meza Taqueria from a 1 star review is that when I was there I overheard that on that day they were donating a portion of their sales to the local school. So for that bit of charity, Meza Taqueria gets an additional star as my bit of charity. But other than coming back for a charity event, there are way to many options in this area to pay for overly priced, no chips, and not that much flavor burritos. 2 Star rating and a go else where recommendation.

I see this place has a lot of 5 and four stars and i really don’t know why. The only reason i gave this a 3 star is because i know the owner and he is a pretty cool guy. As for the food, that’s a different story. Its a little on the expensive side for the amount that you get and the flavor isn’t as good as other spots in Hayward. Overall you get mediocre food for more money than other spots in Hayward. I recommend finding somewhere else in Hayward, its full of taquerias anyways.

Jose, the owner, cannot be beat. He’s friendly, concerned about the business and his customers. My standard order is a super mini burrito with pinto beans and carne asada. However, one day I asked what HE liked and he said, «Try the fish tacos.» Oooohhhh! SO Good. SO filling. But I’m still back to my super mini. Another favorable mention: carne asada quesadilla. Service is fast and the food is EXCELLENT. As a long-time Hayward resident, this place USEDTOBECALLED«Iguana’s», but it changed to Meza Taqueria probably about 10 years ago. Come for the food if you find yourself stuck in one of the worst parts of Hayward. I’m sorry you’re stuck here, I can’t wait to get away. I’ll still come back here though.

This is hands down, one of my favorite local taquerias in Hayward. The owners are some really friendly people who remember their patrons. The food get made quickly and the prices are incredibly reasonable! AnytimeI feel like snackin on some quick, delicious hispanic food, I always come here. Regardless of what you order, you won’t go wrong here. Not a lot of people seem to know this, but they also serve some frickin’ awesome breakfast items early in the morning(around 8−12pm) at some incredibly reasonable prices!(Breakfest burrito… I mean a REAL one and drink for only five bucks!)

I’m a sucker for owners and staff who really seem to care about their clientele. So I just had to check out Meza Taqueria after reading the Unilocal about the wonderful owner. No sooner was I out of my car and stepping up to the sidewalk, when the owner was actually opening the door and greeting us. I guess it was no exaggeration! Throughout our meal, he was stopping by, chatting, checking in, offering to wrap up leftovers. Crazy attentive, in a warm and friendly way. We loved it! Mostly, I was feeding the kids, so I didn’t try anything very adventurous. But what we had was good, and I really liked the guac… fresh and flavorful with a tiny kick. Parking is easy(it’s in the Albertson’s shopping center). The food was prepared and served lightening fast. And the prices are very, very good.

I love that their ‘Super Mini Burrito’ is huge and beyond satisfying. Their carne asada is bbq’d tasty and tender. My «Burrito Connoisseur» of a boyfriend absolutely loves this place and now so do I.
