She messed up on my order but the food was great so I didn’t card. The young lady gives me the check and it was 24.40 for the two of us. I give her $ 30 bucks, she comes past us and I ask for the change and she gives me .40 cents? I look at her like WTF? Then she goes oh here and gives me a $ 5 back. Very weird why even give me the 40 cents back? The food was killer but that waitress really pissed me off. I told her to keep the $ 5 bucks but now looking back its bugging me

From the outside it looks like an old rundown strip mall coffee shop. From the inside its a well oiled breakfast machine. My breakfast standard hot tea, two eggs over medium, sourdough toast, home potatoes or hash browns and bacon. Eggs cooked well within over medium limits, Hash browns were nice and brown, bacon was a tad over cooked but still fine. The place was full but service still amazingly efficient. $ 12 including tip. parking lot is shared with couple other businesses so it could get a bit tight when full.

Friendly waitress. Food was great. Cozy and relaxed. When kids are so busy eating that mean is the food is food.

Me and my ol lady was looking for a simple breakfast place due to the fact that we’re new to the area. Pulled into the parking lot and was a bit skeptical only because it was an empty lot. Decided to still try it and def made the right decision. The décor and flooring is nice and you can see them cooking your food. Was a bit diff to see all women staff but hey, I can’t complain. Lol, the food was above average to the normal American breakfast, French toast is to die for! Def recommended and will be coming back!

Had the beef patty and eggs and home potatoes. The beef and eggs were fine. I didn’t care for the potatoes. They were soggy– and lacked a crisp exterior. I tried a couple bites and didn’t have anymore.

This a local mom and pop establishment where the food and service is great! Each time I have been in here, I have not been disappointed. The portions are huge so I am always taking the rest home with me. I’ve been coming here for breakfast and highly recommend the chicken sausages.

Love this spot!!! Have been coming here for almost 4years. My husband loves their French toast. They get super busy so have patient to wait to be seated. But you’ll be happy with the end result. Food and service is alllll great!

That moment when the boss treats her loyal employees like they are dogs and shows no loyalty in return yup that’s this place great food if you want to show support for a small business that values nothing but the money coming in.

Sometimes one just craves a good olé diner style breakfast/lunch. I’ve had breakfast here before and it’s just fine. But lunch, oh my god. They didn’t have soup, served frozen then refried French fries and a club sandwich so sorry looking, I couldn’t get myself to finish. I hope that they’re able to improve the quality of their ingredient because it’s obvious where corners are being cut. Otherwise, friendly service and a nice little gem.

My niece was visiting and we wanted to go to a nice local place for breakfast. We checked out the reviews on Unilocal and found Hill’s Coffee Shop. The service was great, the breakfast was delicious(French toast was the bomb!) and the servings were generous. It’s a little small for the number of people who want to eat there… but if you have to wait a few minutes, I think it’s worth it!

You know those places that you drive by all the time and wonder what the inside looks like since you’ve never had the time or inclination to stop and find out for yourself? Hill’s Coffee Shop was one of those places for the boyfriend. We had talked about coming in for breakfast for months before we finally stopped in early one Friday morning. It’s very much your standard, old-fashioned roadside diner with an «open» kitchen that you can see the cooks preparing your food for you. Seating is a little limited(as is the parking in the tiny lot that you may or may not miss as you drive by), so make sure you get here a little early in order to be accommodated — especially if you have a larger group! The food is decent and portions are definitely fair for the price that you pay. I would normally give a place like this 3 stars, but I bumped it up to 4 because you can tell the staff here actually enjoy interacting with their customers — especially their regulars. There was a lot of laughter and good-natured teasing flying back and forth, which gave the entire restaurant a friendly and fun atmosphere that I loved. If you’re looking for a good ol’ fashioned breakfast, I would recommend stopping by here! Just make sure you don’t miss the driveway for the lot or else you’ll end up on the freeway!

Solid breakfast food. Good prices. Food served with a smile. Lots of regulars. If you want ad event breakfast come here & support a local shop instead of a franchise.

This place is more like a diner, and it’s WAYYYY better than Denny’s! At first, I was kind of skeptical since it looked run down from the outside. I walked in and was greeted by a really friendly waitress! I can tell she’s been working hard since the coffee shop opened. Even though she was tired, she gave us really great service! She checked in on us regularly, refilled our coffee, and made conversation! I ordered the French Toast Jr. which comes with 1 french toast, 1 egg, and 2 sausage/bacon. I also got a side of hash browns(it was pretty big!). Even though it was very simple, it was so GOOD. The french toast was not soggy and toasted just right. The egg and sausage was also good. Lastly, the hashbrowns is one of my favorites here! It wasn’t too mushy or overly crispy. It was just right! I would definitely come back again!

I’ve been on a search for good chicken fried steak and eggs since Prings in San leandro closed so many years ago. I’ve also driven right by hill’s coffee shop most of my adult life and never stopped by. I had no idea the CFS& eggs I was looking for were right under my nose all this time. Everything was from scratch and delicious, CFS was handbeaded and crispy, home fries nicely browned, eggs perfect over easy, and the best country gravy I’ve had at a restaurant since Prings closed. Not greasy at all. The daughter had french toast, I sampled some and it was well prepared and had a hint of cinnamon. Service was friendly and prompt as well. I am so going back!

Sat at the door for a good five minutes, while my food sat cold and the waitress keeps running past me! Literally 10 minutes in now watching my food get cold on the counter… Common, hire help if you need it. Hate paying for cold food. Tisk tisk

Having recently moved to the area, I’ve been on a quest to try out places in Hayward. Over the long weekend, I tried out a few breakfast places with Hill’s Coffee Shop being one of them. They have good reviews and is nearby so I decided to check it out with my husband. We came around 10am on the 4th of July — the place was pretty full but we were seated right away. The food here was pretty good — satisfactory diner style breakfast. I had over easy eggs with chicken apple sausage and hash browns. What really stood out was the service here — the server(can’t remember her name) that was working that morning was so sweet and just provided overall great service. Attentive, friendly, and never rushed us. On top of the good food and great service, prices are also very attractive here. This is definitely a great spot when you’re wanting a no frills, inexpensive, and satisfying American breakfast.

I was skeptical because my friend who suggested this place has missed the good referral mark before. What a pleasant surprise to be greeted by such a warm and friendly waitress. She immediately made us feel at home and welcome. I ordered the French Toast 3.2.4 which is enough food for a linebacker! My companion ordered a turkey and cheese omelette with home fries and toast. We gobbled it all up in a matter of minutes. So good and affordable. That all came to $ 22. Love this place!
