Would have been a nice bar, but it the bartender was pretty racist and wouldn’t serve«my kind». Long story short — random people were going behind the bar and were serving themselves. When someone of «my kind» goes behind, all hell breaks loose. We didn’t even get kicked out the bar, LOL. We left, she shouldn’t have been a biatch. Soooo one star for your racist ass, «my kind» and I won’t be returning.

Stopped in on a Monday and had a great time. Full of local friendly people. This particular night they had a beer pong tournament.

Jenny is a wonderful person who knows how to run a business. Drinks are reasonably priced. Working class folks… Good location. If you drive down there I suggest parking over by Harbor Freight because cops do poach around there. Lots of Motorcycle Clubs around so some evenings the place is packed with bikers… Thursday night kind of the radio hiphop night. Not my kind of music — I enjoy the nights when BDUB is the DJ. He is a dope person and will play suggestions. Jenny’s Dad works there too — he likes to arrange things… if someone rides a bike in he will want to move it to exactly where he likes it. Guess he just wants to be hands on. Nice guy when you talk to him.

Thanks to Mayra, our service was really fast. She was very friendly, and kept checking in on us. She recommended the street tacos, which were delicious! My husband was impressed with how she was able to keep his drink full, without him having to ask. We’ll definitely be back to watch the next Warriors game. Excellent customer service!

Jenny’s Dark Horse Lounge is a great place, super friendly with fantastic bartenders. They always get your libation right ! They’ve hosted some awesome events & have great music. The Rockin’ Rob show has been a favorite for alot of us. He is a very talented & charismatic guitarist with the chops to prove it.

Wanted to grab a round to pregame our Halloween night. Since The Hollow Leg sadly shut its doors, i havent frequented this part of town, for drinks at least. Decided hey, we’ll just get a round and be out. the lady serving at the bar wasn’t the most welcoming and didn’t seem very interested when we sat down to order drinks. But shoot, she did her job. It was an older crowd, and judging by their familiarity with each other, must’ve been regulars for the most part. There was also a couple belligerent patrons shouting loudly and grabbing attention from the room. So I could understand that the bartender was trying to accommodate everyone and keep everything flowing. Ended up ordering a pitcher and enjoyed with a friend while watching the 3 man band. The band played some honky-tonk and blues which was amazing. Those O.G.‘s can play. I don’t know if they perform there regularly or just that night. Downfall for me is I don’t really like the location being on a busy intersection or how the place is set up. The beer was OK but nothing I can’t get anywhere else. But to each their own. And although this place wouldn’t be my go-to bar, doesn’t mean it can’t be for you. Give it a try. I may still return if in the area. They did deliver what we came for, which was a quick round or two before goin out. Seeing what I thought to be many regulars, it must be doin fairly good business. Just not my cup-a-tea.

The dark horse is my go to bar for almost anything. I only live two blocks away, so I always throw it out as a suggestion so I don’t have to travel very far(lol). Their drinks are cheap & stiff. Most of the bartenders are rad and friendly. Selena is a peach! Bathroom is always clean, so are the tables and chairs. Tuesday is karaōke night & Thursdays are ladies night. BUT you won’t find an abundance of ladies on Thursdays– it tends to be a pretty big testosterone-driven sausage fest. Everyone usually keeps it pretty cool, though & I’ve never *knocks on wood* seen a fight go down here. The reason I took two stars off is that me & my friend came here one night & there was a new girl bartending. She was white with long black hair. We stood at the bar for 15 minutes before she finally came over & asked us for our IDs. We had them ready in our hands & went to hand them to her, but she walked right away! Obviously, we eneded up walking out because of this girls poor attitude. I wish I had caught her name, but she is the reason I have not been back since. I don’t know what her problem was as it was a quiet weekday night & she was not swamped or anything. We weren’t asking her to do backflips on the bar– we just wanted a drink.

I only come here when Selina’s working, by far the best bartender out there. Amazing drinks and good times, I definitely suggest you stop by if you’ve never been. Come in in a Thursday night and catch DJ Bullo, and dance the night away. This bar also offers karaōke nights and there is a pool table! Come hang out and join the party, you won’t be disappointed.

Great bar to go socialize! People are really friendly, great environment & the bartender there is amazing! $ 5 mango margaritas on Fridays, so delicious! I also think it was a slow night when I went. And I had so much fun regardless so I definitely want to check it out on a crazy night.

The Blues Jam is back at the Dark Horse Lounge in Hayward ! The third Friday night of the month, from 9 – 1. You can’t beat the $ 5.00 cover charge that gives you ticket for one drink(up to $ 5.00 value). Blues, Rock & Roll, R&B. Owner Jenny, is friendly and accommodating. Bartender Selina, gives a smile and great service. The crowd is eclectic, of all ages, ethnicity and welcoming. Plenty of seating for listening and a small dance floor to get your groove on. Check it out!

If your tired of fake places acting like a «dive bar» … Come to this spot. You shall be reminded and thoroughly satisfied quick. All while wanting to SLAP them fake dive bar owners. Bartender Dawn would put those spots to SHAME.

I was there for my first time on this Friday night. I had such an amazing time with my gf and some freinds. The bartender was taking great care of us the whole night even though they were slammed. The drinks were off the hook needless to say at an amazing price. Thanks for the great service!

Unfortunately the owner has decided to no longer have the Friday night blues jam sessions. Too bad. Me and all my friends came often, drank, danced and had a great evening. I heard she’s having a DJ instead. Oh well, we will have to find another Friday night spot. I still like the bartenders and will stop after work to wait out traffic but will not be a regular on Fridays.

I feel like I have to stop by here anytime I’m crusin’ down the boulevard. Hesperian Boulevard, that is. Jenny, the owner, is probably my favorite bartender of all time. She is really friendly and you can tell she cares about her place. The regulars are awesome too! Great vibe at this location. In fact, I even participated in their first annual chili cook-off in 2012. Lots of fun stuff to do here: pool table, jukebox, and karaōke or live bands on certain nights. Free popcorn! Oh, and do NOT get me started on the Hot Spot and Bulls-eye…

I never thought the Dark Horse would be my go-to weeknight dive bar, but it is. Their drinks are pretty cheap($ 6 growlers) and the bartenders are always friendly(say hi to Kevin!). They have 1 pool table(which surprisingly doesn’t get too packed), a huge projector screen that they play TV on or karaōke on karaōke night as well as 2 or 3 flat screens. They have live music sometimes on the weekends and special nights and so far the music has always been pretty decent. Normally old school rock or old school classics like Elvis, James Brown, etc. They have plenty of bar stools and sit down tables and yes, their famous popcorn machine! Sometimes it’s empty but they try to keep on top of it.

Just a quick update… It’s gotten to the point where the bartender knows who I am. That’s pretty awesome. Wonder if it will be like Cheers?
