I was pleasantly surprised by this bar/gastropub when we spontaneously visited last Sunday for dinner. The food is some of your typical bar food, some of your not so typical bar food, with a distinct Korean influence. I am glad the new owners embraced their background rather than trying to simply mimic typical bar food. We ordered a lot of wings(not the double fried, we were hungry and didn’t want to wait!), the spring rolls, truffle fries, and the pork belly entrée. The wings were delicious and I can’t wait to come back to try the double fried wings as they sound even MORE amazing! They had spicy buffalo, soy garlic, and bourbon BBQ. DEFINITELY get the spring rolls though! They contain kalbi(Korean BBQ) beef and are absolutely delicious. The portion is a little small for the price(2 spring rolls for $ 10?), but they are somewhat filling. The service was a little… confused, but she got it right in the end and we had a good time! Would definitely recommend. The happy hour deals look amazing. Very affordable!

A great twist on American food. Loved the sirachi meatball sliders, the fried babyback ribs and the bacon yeungchow fried rice. Great beers on tap. Chef Melissa was very friendly and couldn’t be more accomodating. Looking forward to another visit.

What a wonderful surprise to read a fabulous review from The Record, and then to try it out the same night… it was great delight. I loved the double fried wings and the tacos. My date loved the baby back ribs and the rib eye sandwich. I am so happy for these new owners. They have found a way to transform this restaurant, and I will be back soon!

This morning I read the review of the restaurant/bar in The Record, and was compelled to give it a try. What a find!!! The bar itself is welcoming, and the General Tsos tacos are to die for! A small hint of spice, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. The truffle fries are wonderful as well. We also had the«Fire me up «wings. All I can say is you better like fire!!! The wings were to hot for us, but you could tell they were juicy and tender. We will definately be back! Nice chage from the Ridgewood scene. The Front Porch Burger looked amazing. NO doubt this place will be around for a long time!

I’ve come here a couple of times since they remodeled. Mainly for the food. The food has been great… but always takes a crazy long time, so don’t come here if you’re starving, come if you want to be Euro-leasurely. The décor is great, your typical Brooklyn hipstery rustic thing, lots of pipes and ropes to stare at. The drinks are watered down severely and are overpriced. The beer selection is decent. Last time I went was on a Saturday night. I literally got ignored by two different bartenders, some beefy guy who would rather stare at a wall right after making eye contact didn’t make me feel right about being there. My friend and I stood by the bar for about 10 minutes and watched people get served after us, we were definitely in the bartenders line of vision, there were also about 4 people behind the bar! It felt like twilight zone so we actually gave up and joined a random table of people to see if we could get their waitress to get us drinks, which she did and was totally accommodating. Also they close at 1am on a Saturday which felt like a funny joke. We went to Stosh’s on Maple ave in fair lawn and ONE bartender was efficient and fast and got a group of 8 drinks in under 2 minutes at a totally crowded bar! Basically the food is good but all the other things dont make it so worth returning at this point.

I love coming here for some winding down after work. They have renovated and reopened under new management&ownership about 6 months ago. The staff there is extremely friendly and very good with faces. The owner/manager comes out to hang out with the customers time to time to make sure that everyone is having fun. The interior of the place is really cute they have a super cool high tech jukebox, darts and cute dark wooden tables & a bar. The bar is a fairly long bar enough to seat maybe 15 people? They have a decent selection of beers and hard liquor, they had the Game of Thrones beers. if anyone has ever wanted to try it without buying a whole box online! The food here is really special, they do asian fusion. I’ve tried a whole bunch of food here… The wings are asian style wings you can get them single fried or double fried. They have a few difference sauces the garlic soy, bourbon bbq or fire me up. The galbi burger is like having bulgogi on steroids with a bun, trust me you will not regret trying this out. The steak sandwich is a whole lot of ribeye stuffbed in a portuguese bread with this really awesome white sauce which i wasn’t 100% sure of what it was but it was freaking delicious! The sriracha meatball sliders are on a lotus leaf bun, essentially looks like a chinese pork bun. but it’s filled with something else. oh and of course. the french friends. MAKESURE to get parmesan or truffle… they are sooooooooooooooooooooo good… you will be hooked! I need to go back for the wings and everything else soon.

I actually live nearby and always drove by. Since being under new ownership I felt like giving it a shot… man this place is amazing. The food is unbelievable. Double fried wings, mac-n-cheese, burgers and french fries all delicious. The service is very good. It takes some time for food but because it’s fresh… but it’s definitely worth the wait. Great place for family, friends or a night with your significant other. Strongly recommended this place!

Get the double fried wings! They are like little clouds of chicken puffs that practically melt in your mouth!(Disclaimer: they take about a half hour but are definitely worth the wait!) Also, the pig belly and Galbi burger were both delicious, add the truffle fries, and your meal is complete! Friendly server, drinks came quick, parking was easy, food was delicious. This place is a no brainier :)

Can’t wait for the nice weather so we can sit outside and relax… As always the front porch is one of my favorite spots with friends or family…

While driving around downtown Hawthorne, referring to Unilocal,we luckily found this place. It was a Thursday afternoon so it was a little quite but we had our pick of the tables. There was a few people at the bar. The waitress was extremely nice and answered all my friends questions(he always has lots) The starter was incredibly delicious. We had siracha meat ball wrap. Flavors were sensational. We were going to order the tacos for $ 10 but the waitress told us we could get $ 2 tacos as it was happy hour and we could get more of them for that price. We had 4 but enjoyed them so much, we had another 4. They had a good selection of alcohol, including my favorite, crabbies ginger beer and it’s very reasonably priced. Most beers were $ 5 with $ 1 off for happy hour. You can’t get a beer for this price in many places in the area. Brought my wife home takeaway of grilled cheese sandwich, mashed potatoes and a salad. She said the mashed potatoes were the best she has ever had but said the grilled cheese wasn’t very cheesy. I believe this place is new and is a family run establishment. It’s deserves to do very well as the service was excellent and the food was really delicious. Close to Hawthorne train station so will go again soon. Fantastic bar and restaurant

My fiancé and I went here from some drinks with friends to celebrate our engagement. What a great spot! They have an amazing FRONTPORCH, could you have guessed?! The inside is super charming. Very calming décor with lots of charm! Woodwork, details, lighting all A PLUS. The drinks are made well, they don’t skimp on alcohol to mixer ratio either. The crowd is also right up my alley. It gets busy around normal bar hours 10−1am. I love that you can breath and talk and play darts still on a Saturday. You won’t find yourself elbowing your neighbor, maybe by the bar to get a drink, but nothing crazy. You will still find new crowds and people to meet as well. We saw one of our friends order food and it looked and smelled amazing! Sooooo my fiancé and I went back the VERYNEXTDAY to eat with my twin and her husband. YESSYESSYESS! Everything was unbelievable. I had the galbi burger and so did my fiancé. Literally LITERALLY the best burger I’ve ever had. My sister and her husband both got the tacos. Incredibly delicious. We all started with their wings. People are NOT kidding when they say they are the BEST wings they’ve ever had. Lucky for my fiancé and I, we live down the hill. Cannot wait to make this place my regular go-to. Melissa is FANTASTIC. From the newest Front Porch fanatic –Bstic UPDATE: I literally just feel like I had an affair eating this sandwich in front of my fiancé. The salmon melted in my mouth and the aioli should be smothered all over my face. The pickled onions didn’t stand a chance. Order the salmon sandwich. Their food is absolutely unREAL. The wings are exactly what everyone else says they are. The pork belly is STUPIDDELICIOUS. The galbi burger is the most incredibly delicious burger I’ve ever had in my life– be prepared to get dirty. Don’t underestimate the tasty food here, everything is magical. I’ve been here often because the food, chef, atmosphere always just keeps bringing me back.

Really awesome bartenders. Good selection of wine and beer, with some microbrews. The food menu is interesting, with a mix of traditional bar food with some Asian influences. Last time I was there, the chef was coming around asking how things were and feedback on the menu. For a neighborhood spot like this, I thought it was awesome the chef did that.

We finally got back to the new and more beautiful front porch pub in Hawthorne. The place was packed at dinner time on Friday evening. After a short wait we were given a table I noticed how the wait staff carefully placed the napkin and cutlery. Obviously they have been trained which is nice. The menu is very interesting with some regular items with a twist as well as some new dishes. I had the braised pork bellies served on a bed of rice and small cut potatoes with Chinese KL. It was absolutely delicious. The only minor drawback for the evening was the slow service. Whether we were getting food or drinks or even water it took forever. My guess is they were training new wait staff. But the deliciousness of the food made up for any delays. We will be back and soon.

Grilled. Cheese. Grilled. Effing. Cheese. It’s been redone and in every way. It was sad to see a staple go, but this place has really put itself back on the map. It’s amazing what some updated décor and eclectic menu items can do for a bar, it’s great to see a family owned business flourish. Questions? See line 2.

My friend’s family bought out this restaurant and a few co workers and I decided to support our mutual friend. This restaurant bar had great ambience and unique décor that’s both welcoming and laid back. It’s a smaller bar with about 10 – 13 tables for dining and a small bar for happy hour and drinks. I have never been to this place before with the previous owner but I’m only rating this from my current experience. Restaurant: a little bit of rustic and old school. Rustic because the designs of the chairs and tables. The lighting were made from mason jars. A little old school because here is a ‘jukebox’ that’s modern with a touch screen feature and an area by the bathroom for a nice game of darts. The bar area is kind of small but it had a lot of top shelf liquor for your taste! Food: I would love to come back for the food because the grilled cheese my husband got was delicious! It was three small pieces of grilled cheese with a side of crunchy French fries. The fries were amazing and the grilled cheese was just right! I would love to try other food options this place provides! The overall feel of The Front Porch was very cozy with a lot of locals that stop by. The drinks and food were good and the atmosphere overall felt cozy. I would recommend this place for local people and highly recommend trying the food(although I’ve only tried the grilled cheese). I feel that this place should eventually get security on the weekends because it seems like it’ll get busier, especially with football Sundays! UPDATE1÷24÷16: FINALLY came back to try their food and it’s just as good as that grilled cheese sandwich looked! I had the chicken panini and the double fried wings which was unbelievably amazing. The wings WILL take half an hour to prepare and it does say it on the menu, so if you’re going to order it, you better be willing to wait for them. I promise it’s definitely worth the wait!

I will first start by saying, I should really give this place another try since it only opened a few weeks ago. A friend was having a little birthday get together here on a Saturday evening so I looked at the menu before hand and saw«Hint of Asian» I thought OK this should be really good. I love Asian fusion! The food was pretty good and I can definitely see the Hint of Asian in the menu but didn’t taste it. The Lotus bun they tried to incorporate didn’t work out too well. It fell apart at the first bite. A Ramen burger would fit perfectly into the theme they are trying to go for. I also know they need a lot more work on the service end. Our waitress was great and did the best she could with all the tables full and being the only server but for the people(owners) standing there watching over like they were too good to help out,(Yes, we see you in the corner by the front door) not so cool.

This place is recently under new ownership, the new modern décor is really nice and has a warm feel, mason jar lighting and the copper walls are a nice touch. Extremely friendly staff, and upgraded menu, Asian cuisine spin on the old generic bar food. General Tso’s chicken tacos and truffled fries were amazing as well as the double fried chicken wings. Reasonable prices, and overall positive experience.

Very classy joint and new management! I called and placed my order for double fried Buffalo Wings and this was how I was greeted when I walked in the door! A spread laid out like I was walking in the door at home! Come and checkout the new menu!
