I don’t have the chance to get out often, and going all the way to Boston/Portsmouth for drinks is just not really worth my time. The lasting room is one of the places I go to meet up with my friends, maybe watch a game, eat some food and choose a few songs I’d like to hear from the jukebox. Friday nights have a DJ, so usually the place ends up getting very busy. I rate it 4 stars because its very convenient and I always have a great time whenever I go.

This is one of the local bars that is best left to the locals. The rude bartender other reviews speak of is the owner’s son. He constantly over serves and got a DWI so the over serving goes to himself as well and shows how reckless and wrong they are here. The people they serve too much too are often involved in altercations and arrests right outside and it’s a hot spot for drug activity. Avoid this place at all costs.

Was there on New Years night with a friend after having dinner elsewhere. Wanted to play Keno and have a couple drinks. The most rude bartender ever ! Not sure of his name, but he was tall, always wears short pants and has black hair. After my friend left, I asked the bar tender if he could check what Keno game we were on. He took my ticket leaned into me and told me «I’m sick of your blind person act, leave and never come back» I am a legally blind person, and have been deemed so by My Dr., My retinal specialist, The state of Mass DMV, The Mass Commission for the Blind to name a few. I do not appreciate being discriminated against because of my disability. I am a life long resident of Haverhill, a 56 year old retired professional who happened to be visually challenged. This action took me by surprise and I will never go there again. It appears someone needs customer service or sensitivity training, or maybe he should be digging ditches instead of working with the public.

Every time I come here the service is top notch! I have come here on a slow Wednesday and a busy Friday or Saturday and the staff are very attentive and helpful. This is my go to bar in Haverhill!

Says they close at 1am yet some guy, blonde hair, not sure what his position was, considering the entire time I was sitting at the bar, I never saw him, until he was literally screaming«LET’S GO» at exactly 1230… I myself am a bartender and no way would I be yelling for people to leave 30 minutes PRIORTOTHETIMEPOSTED(that we close) ONTHEDOOR, WEBSITE, ECT. I understand last call, but to continuously stand there yelling for people to get out, 30 minutes before you officially even close is a little ridiculous. Tone it down a notch.

Not a bad place to drink cheap. 2.00 pbr’s. Food is good but my issue is the bartenders. Even if it’s dead they aren’t attentive at all. They’ll walk by your empty glass numerous times till you flag them down and ask for another. They’re not rude just don’t seem to care. First time I went I thought maybe it was the one bartender but upon returning I’ve noticed every bartender does it. That was when it wasn’t busy. I wouldn’t wanna go in during a boston game or on a Friday night. Stay away if you like getting good service.

Townie bar in a townie kind of town. Got scoffed at when asking for a «dessert wine» for the girl. Merloh, pinoh, and chahdonnay’s all they’ve got. But when it comes to beer, there’s a reasonable selection on tap, most notably BBC’s Steel Rail EPA, which has a nice(but almost sophisticated) punch that classes the place up by itself. Note the smoker’s door at the back of the bar. Unprotected by architecture, beware the icy blast across half the building when a smoker heads out for a nicotine hit!

I come here occasionally at night(when the night crawlers are out). This place is a dive bar. It’s mostly a 20 – 30 y/o crowd, mostly wacked, mostly men. If you’re a guy out for a beer with your buddies this place works fine.

I went here with my husband and thought the food was very good. The sliders were very tasty and for $ 2 each how can you go wrong.

For years I had avoided this place for the only reason that it is too bright. It’s a Townie dive bar not a Christian Science Reading Room right? Anywhoo, I found myself here this St. Patrick’s day with a friend and found the only standing(it was still early) room near the small open kitchen. Everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked Really Good, really. I made a note in my phone(I knew my memory would be abandoning me soon) to come back and give the food a shot. A few weeks later I went and I’m really glad I did. The menu is short and sweet with typical bar fare and pub grub. I opted for the steak tips as there’s no place this close to me that has decent tips anymore. My plate arrived with about 8 decent sized tips that were dead on MR. When I tried the first bite I was hooked, they were Seriously Good. You get a choice of sides and I went with the sweet potato fries and cole slaw. Again I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the sweet potato fries were actually CRISPY! I can’t tell you how many places I’ve been where the SPFs are sad and limp, not these. The cole slaw was good, nice and crunchy and not swimming in mayo or other sauces. Service was quick and super friendly and the rest of the clientele were locals who were well behaved as it was early in the evening. Since discovering this gem I’ve been back almost twice a week for those tips as I just can’t seem to order anything else at the moment. The Kid has had their burgers and a buffalo chicken wrap which he said were above average for the area. Oh, and the last time I was there the bartender highly recommended the Shrimp Risotto, once I can tear myself away from those tips I’ll give that a shot. My only complaint is that on every visit there doesn’t seem to be a bartender that knows how to pour a proper pint of Guinness. I guess you can’t have it all. And at night it’s still too bright.

For a good time, ask the bartender Len to make you a «shit on the lawn» shot. Then mention that Andrea sent you. ;) Fun«divey» atmosphere. Juke box, food, back deck for all you stinky smokers to take your drinks outside, lots of seating.

I came here for a couple wobbly-pops with my husband. The place was kinda stinky in a fry-o-lator sort of way. It didn’t make me want to try the food, that’s for sure. It seems like a «locals» sort of place where the patrons all know each other. The people and staff were not super friendly, but not rude either. I could take or leave this place. The bar area did offer a lot of seating, which was a bonus. They have a back deck that you can bring your drink on to if you want a lovely view of the stinkin’ ol’ Merrimack. That about sums it up.

a dive, but a friendly one. usually have live music on the weekends, definitely an older crowd. Not somewhere I’d go on my own, but my coworkers enjoy it and its not a bad place to grab a beer. Food is fairly uninspired, but what do you expect?
