Great place. Nothing fancy at all. Food is awesome. We brought our young twins and it was a perfect family friendly atmosphere for us. Highly recommended for families or lunch. Check it out.

My parents, fiancé and I came here for a birthday lunch. Convenient location. Deliciously tender, fresh fish. Captain’s platter was huge, large enough for two who LOVE fish. Shrimp was the only thing that didn’t seem just out of the ocean. Fresh, large lobster roll at $ 5 less than other seafood places. Friendly service. Good selection of drinks, but no desserts on the menu. Only open Thursday to Sunday in the warm months, though. We will be back!

Gave it another try the other night; clams were perfect and fried haddock beyond perfect. Definite improvement since the last time. Will go back again.

Worst seafood I have ever had the ciams were like rubber the scallops tasted horrible had to throw 75 dollars worth of food in trash!!! My advice is any other seafood place would be a better option wish I could give no stars.

We as a Family have been long time customers here. Countless lobster rolls, clam plates and scallops have been happily consumed from here. I have just one question. What happened? Last night my Dad ordered a take out clam plate. It was reported to be the«worst clam plate I ever ate».(He’s 98 and consumed his share of clam plates). Reported to be tasteless and lousy. He wondered aloud of the clams were left over from last fall… He felt lousy all night, thankfully he feels better this morning. With the high cost of seafood we don’t mind paying the price but only if the quality is there to back it up. Surprisingly last night it wasn’t. Not sure if we will take the chance in the future. Reading other reviews apparently quantity and quality have slipped. Very disappointed. Reminds me of a fortune cookie I once got. «The shock of high prices never outlasts the memory of poor quality.»

Just returned from eating delicious whole body clams. I had onion rings, my husband fries. I must say that the clams were golden, not greasy & not sandy. We will definitely return & highly recommend. Give it A Try– you will not be sorry. Posted March 13, 2015

Very nice people and good food, very friendly to those who need to avoid gluten. I had haddock with fetus and onion rings — could have used a bit more salt but you can always add that. They how to offer gluten free subs as an option.

This place is gluten free awesome! The service is wonderful! Their’s a very nice lady that greets you with a disarming smile and the tall friendly cook pops out to greet you as well. Very nice people:) I’ve been their twice as it is a half hour drive for me, but its well worth it. First time I’d tried the Haddock, Clam strips and fries. It was perfect! Couldn’t tell it was gluten free and it was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing! Second time I had a gluten free steak and cheese sub. The steak and cheese portion was a 10! I tried it because it was also a gluten free sub roll! I have to say the sub roll was ok. I’m new to gluten free and I’ve had a hard time finding a good bread replacement. This was the best yet, but still not quite the same. Would I get it again, yes! I’m looking forward to trying all the gluten free options. There are quite a lot on the menu so I plan on going back every weekend for the next month or so to my new favorite place. I highly recommend it:)

Under new management and great! Extraordinary for gluten free. We have been very happy with the taste and service since the change. My kids’ new favorite casual family meal.

Some people just don’t «get» this place. But, if you are celiac or Gluten sensitive this is a true heaven on earth. Please consider your negative comments and how that affects the business of this place. I have not had fried seafood or onion rings in over 3 years and I was so happy to go there and eat them. If you have been denied certain foods for a very long time and suddenly a place exists that has them, it is wonderful. Some people are not used to the GF flours and a bit of a difference and it does take some getting used to. I loved, in particular, their friend scallops and onion rings. I can’t wait to go back.

I don’t know what happened. I really don’t. I was so looking forward coming back when they open their doors for the season. I got the Captain’s Platter, and boy, the portion shrunk big time. I remember the plate used to be overflowing with yummy seafood. But you know, maybe they had to cut back, I was hoping it was still as good as it was last year. I was wrong. Boy, was I wrong. I was so so so so wrong. The clams were not good. They must have been sitting out, because they didn’t taste right. We put those on the side. The fries were subpar. The onion rings were like limp strings. The shrimp had a mushy texture. The only good things were the haddock and the scallops. Needless to say, pretty much the entire plate went into the trash. It is not worth it to get food poisoning. Also they gave only one tiny tarter sauce cup for the platter. But then again, I didn’t eat it, so maybe they already knew the food wasn’t good. What a waste as I loved going here and getting the platter. Maybe management changed. Maybe they don’t care anymore. I guess I’ll need to search for a new seafood place now.

This is honestly one of the worst places in haverhill and has gotten progressively worse over the years! All I can think of is the customers who enjoy this food have the worst standards in the world… It honestly feels like being on a bad episode of RESTAURANTIMPOSSIBLE. I do try to avoid fried food since it isn’t the healthiest but it’s honestly difficult to screw up fried food the way they manage too. It tastes maybe an 8th as good as Browns on its worst day and doesn’t offer scenic views or BYOB! The onion rings used to be good under older management but it’s not just a soggy pile of oil and the breading on the fish is almost as bad as the cut of fish. Honestly would recommend McDonald’s over this and you could eat at McDonalds 15 times for the amount of eating here once and probably just as bad for your body! Ultimately we decided to throw away our food and I think it would be wise of them to change management again for the millionth time and prey for the best because another season of restaurant impossible is just around the corner and that will satisfy my craving for viewing doomed restaurants!

Wow. Went in expecting a Captians Platter that we have enjoyed for a long time. Place was dirty to begin, and you literally have to beg for tartar sauce. Fish was ok, however the FRIEDCLAMSWERERUBBER and tasteless. It was so bad we actually had to spit in a napkin. We will never go in there again. New ownership but the same manager. Sounds fishy

Took my parents there because they always loved the place. Saw the sign that said«New Managment». Didn’t take long to figure that out. The lobster roll tasted canned, the onion rings were so greasy they were inedible. Both myself and my parents will never go back!

I generally like it here and there’s always a bunch of old people eating here(isn’t that a good sign for a seafood place?)The food is good but not always in my budget(most seafood isn’t). The haddock and chowder is great. Husband loves the chicken fingers here. They have been in the business for a long time and they do it well. Yum! The hours are odd and they are also seasonal so call before you make the trip.

Take out orders have much less portions and are always missing something in the order, very disappointing for the premium cost of the food most of the time the phone is taken of the hook so you are unable to place a phone order very rude

Asked what oil the food is cooked in because my cousin has a seriously life threatening allergy. The kid by the fryer said«lard». Not amusing and not how you treat a new customer. Management should train every worker to be professional. They made us feel like it was an inconvenience that we asked.

Why do you put surly teenagers as the face of your business? In this difficult economy, I expect pleasant service in exchange for my hard earned money. The nasty attitude on the phone and in person is something that shouldn’t be tolerated by the owner. The food is good, if a little pricey for what you get.

I stopped here for a quick bite on a day with a weird schedule. I drive by it a lot and since the Clam Shack season has begun I figured I’d give it a go. While I have little complaint about the clams and the fries I did feel they were a bit light on the clams for the price. I thought it hilarious as I persused the reviews complaining about the apathetic high school employees. The kid taking my order sure didn’t have much enthusiasm for order taking that’s for sure. I doubt I’ll have a reason to go again but wouldn’t be opposed to it if the opportunity presented itself. Pass

What a great«end of summer» reminder of really tasty shrimp! Over the long labor day weekend, my girl and I decided to hit our little out of the way fried seafood and seafood sandwich/rolls spot. We have been running around most of the summer, so never had a chance to pop in like we really wanted too. It was a great little trip to swing in there again. Once again the shrimp were delicious and cooked to perfection. The coating they use to fry them up isn’t to flaky or thick, just adds a bit of crisp and flavor to a massive shrimp. Although again, my girl ordered a lobster roll and I can’t speak directly from experience, she said it was once again a delicious treat packed with good lobster. Still a spot I’d recommend to anyone!
