We purchased a cord of firewood from Chestnut Mountain recently and Bob assured us that it had been cut and split well over a year ago. It was not cheap — $ 250 a cord. It is so wet that we can barely burn it. My husband has been splitting it into chunks only a couple of inches around and it still hisses and won’t catch. Bob was not willing to negotiate on price despite our evidence that the wood was not seasoned. Don’t buy firewood here!

We always have a large tree every Christmas(16 – 18 feet). It has become increasingly tough to find trees that size at less than a $ 100. We bought hay from Jake and his dad this summer so we went back and picked out a very nice 18 foot tree and only paid $ 50. Jake cut the tree down for us and helped us load it.

This family owned tree farm offers excellent trees and wreaths at excellent prices. So not only do you get to support a hard working local family(The Schrader’s) with your custom, you get to do it while spending less than you would at a big box store. Beautiful setting, nice people, great trees. They even had complimentary hot apple cider! Well done, Schraders.
