Toby shod our horse recently. He was asked to respect the angle degrees we have established for our gated horse’s hooves but he ignored that. He shod the horse with the shoes that were on him, not a problem, however when he left we found the nails were protruding from the shoe because they did not fit the shoes. When we contacted him he said that they would ware down however we asked him to return and to set the nails properly. He simply filed them down. The location of nails caused us to be concerned about the horses foot condition and we had our vet remove all the shoes. In 27 years with this horse we never had a «HOT» nail but this farrier set at least one. He was notified of this but his response was that he had not had a «HOT» nail in 15 years. He never made any offer to correct the shoeing or to credit us because of this problem. We were fortunate enough to contact our usual farrier who corrected the angles and nail sets using the same shoes that Toby took off.
