I wasn’t really impressed I drove all the way from Bristol the oxtail was a little tough and the beef patties were just ok I dunno if I’d rush back there but IF I find my way there again I’ll try something different

Oxtail and beans, curried goat, beef stew — portions are huge and food is tasty. All meals are served with rice and peas. Opt for the larger size and you have the choice of steam veggies or a green salad. I prefer this location to there others, it’s cleaner, the line moves quickly, and the staff is always friendly Patties are cheap(2.25) and flavorful. Chicken or beef, I like how both are equal parts meat and dough — not that lame doughy/no meat patty you may find at other Jamaican eateries. FYI: Monday — Friday, 9am-730pm

Wow… a little disappointed in Scotts Bakery. I paid ahead for 17 dozen cocktail beef and chicken patties for my wedding. My rating is mostly due to their customer service, or lack of it. The patties are delicious, which makes it even harder to leave this review and why I wanted them for my big day. They dropped the ball and didn’t make the patties, didn’t even have record of my order when a friend went to go get them the morning of my wedding. The patties were supposed to be the main app, so that was incredibly disappointing. Apparently they also made no efforts to try and resolve the screw up… like simply checking their Paypal receipts? I emailed Scotts Sat night and by Tuesday night I hadn’t heard a word back so I filed a Paypal claim. I got the refund today, but not a peep back from Scotts. No «Sorry, here is your refund,» which is the very least I expected for screwing up my wedding menu.

My first taste of authentic Jamaican food! They have the best beef and chicken patties; they are excellent with just the right amount of heat. All their baked good items(in the warming container just behind the cashiers) are excellent. A co-worker and I often get lunch take-out, and if you arrive just a wee before noon, you’ll beat the long line that will eventually wind its way outside during lunch rush. Favorites include the aforementioned beef and chicken patties, plus the hot dog rolls, brown stewed chicken, amazing chicken soup(gets better later in the day; the XL chicken soup is perfect for take-out dinner), spicy and tender jerk chicken, oxtails, and scrumptious curry chicken — all with savory rice and peas(beans)!

Hands down best buy lunch in town. A couple of patties, chicken or beef and a broccoli or spinach and cheese for under $ 5. And that may be too much to finish. Also they have the best carrot cake I have ever had in my life, no exaggeration.

You say«Scott’s Jamaican Bakery» and immediately your mind congers up wonderful thoughts of some of the best Jamaican food in the city. Some may disagree but their longevity is a testimony to the fact that they have an extremely devoted and faithful clientele that has sustained this business for well over 35 years. They serve a large selection of Jamaican comfort food; Curried Goat, curried chicken, Stew Peas, Brown stew Chicken, Beef Stew, Oxtail and Beans, fried fish and for dessert, Cinnamon Bun, Sugar Bun, Bulla Cake, Totoe and Cut Cake. I was there for what I think is the best Jamaican Beef Patty anywhere to be found. The pureed beef and onion filling is pure magic with a mere kiss of thyme and the subtle spiciness from the the Scotch Bonnet pepper. Ok, who knows whether they use the traditional SB pepper in the recipe and quite frankly, who the heck cares so long as it delivers the heat. The dough for the beef patty is just pure, plain matchless perfection; combine the filling with the dough and you have Jamaica’s answer to the Empanada which more than holds its own in that head to head match up.

I love to stop in here when I’m in the area. Unfortunately, it’s not very often so then it’s so hard to choose what I want! Great beef patties, chicken patties, broccoli and cheese patties, coco bread, jerk chicken. On this particular occasion, I got a beef patty and a piece of coco bread and ate it as soon as I got back to the car. My husband said it was gross(and he may have said I was gross) but I didn’t care, it was so tasty and fresh and warm! One of my coworkers brought cocktail size patties to work for a potluck. Yum! I didn’t even know they had those before she brought them. Though I didn’t love the veggie patties so much, it was kind of like eating the inside of an egg roll inside a patty and it wasn’t really my kind of thing. I’ll stick to the basics. It would be super cool if they were to open a location in Wethersfield or Rocky Hill, I don’t often make it from Middletown to Hartford for a Jamaican snack. I’d be so much more likely to go if there was a location closer to me!

Love me some Scott’s! I stop in every single time I get my hair done in Hartford. Its become part of my ritual. My staple orders — beef or chicken patty with coco bread, red pea soup, and bun with cheese. The sorrel is alright, but needs more ginger if you ask me. Not a place to sit and eat; its a grab and go type of spot. They accept debit/credit cards, which is always appreciated. The lady behind the counter(its always the same lady) is polite, which is all you can hope for at your neighborhood West Indian spot. Prices are cheap, food is the bomb, its a no brainer.

I’ve been coming here since it opened. the place could use an update, but the food has not nor does it need an update It is always good, not better but good. The ox tail is yummy, the rice is always good never dry, the chicken patty is always good in a pinch, and cheap. the customer service is not friendly but it’s constant I will never worry why is this lady smiling or talkative. despite this I come here when I want a quick meal.

Love Love Love there food. The food is great! My favorites are their Red Pea Soup, Stew Chicken, Chicken Soup and House Carrot Juice. The portions are very filling. Their food is not overly spicy and has great flavor. One of the best lunch options in the city for under $ 10.

They have vegetarian patties! Cheap, too! I find nothing alarming or sketchy about the location. It’s not far from Keney Park, making it convenient to pick up food and go have a picnic lunch.

I love Scott’s. The chicken and beef patties are excellent — the crust is light and flakey, and the fillings are hot and flavorful. The spices aren’t overpowering but fill your mouth with flavor on every bite. My usual order is a chicken patty, a beef patty and a side of rice and peas, and it costs a little over $ 5. Easily the best lunch deal in Hartford when considering price and quality. Plus, the staff inside is incredibly friendly. One thing to consider if it’s your first time is that the location is NOT in a good area of Hartford. Additionally there is ALWAYS road work in the area. However I’ve never had a problem when I went for lunch.

The beef patties here are AMAZING. The crust was light and flakey, and had just enough of a chewy bite without being too«dough-y». The filling was steaming hot, moist and flavorful. Just thinking about these beef patties are making me salivate. We also got the oxtail & beans and the jerk chicken. They were good, but just average good and were definitely overshadowed by the beef patties. Yum!

yum! not far off from the highway. awesomely large portions, very good prices(a «dinner sized» portion for about $ 8 feeds two easily), breads, patties, jamaican ting! situated very close to the highway, and not in a particularly sketchy part of town(add a star). so yay! i had the oxtails which were wonderfully seasoned and not too fatty. the peas and rice and cabbage and carrots were also amazing! cash only, though, like most hole-in-the-walls.

Yay! Why didn’t anyone tell me that Scott’s had a Main Street location? Saves me the trouble of having to go onto Albany Avenue(which I try to avoid at all costs) for my beef patty and coco bread. Scott’s has the best beef patty and coco bread in the city. I noticed this new location now serves food as well their normal bakery items. I’ll definitely have to go back and try it out. I took a star away for their as expected customer service. Lady was deep in a conversation with the other lady behind the counter while she was taking my order. But if you frequent local Jamaican restaurants like I do, you come to expect it.
