Great company, when my father had an issue with some pests I called Richland. I spoke to Michael over the phone, he was very professionally answered all my questions, and set up a convenient time for me, to send a technician. The technician was very knowledgable and eradicated the pest issue. Overall my experience with Richland was top notch I will be calling them back for preventative treatments and any other pest issues that I may have. Also have recommended them to my family and friends in which all have had the similar experiences.

I called them at about 10 on a Tuesday morning about an infestation of yellow jackets(wasps). Although the nest didn’t seem very big, judging by the number of wasps I saw, this is a pretty urgent thing to take care of during the late summer. If the nest is up against an interior wall, they can eat right through and fill your house. The phone was answered promptly, and after asking a few questions they gave me a price.(There’s a discount for people who found them on Unilocal,but I don’t know what other discounts they might offer.) I hadn’t gotten any other bids, which is stupid, but whatever… In any case, they had a technician out by noon. He was very pleasant and professional. If necessary, a retreatment is $ 25. Now if only they could take care of the deer… They take credit cards.

When I came back from summer vacation, I noticed a very busy buzzing outside my kitchen. Yellow jackets had taken over a vent by the window. My husband called Richland in the morning, explained the problem, and they came that same afternoon. The technician was great. He took the time to explain the procedure and even sprayed some poison on a second site near the roof where wasps were gathering and hanging out. It was the best he could do since he didn’t spot a second nest. As for the main wasp nest, he efficiently treated it with chemicals to kill the queen and also removed the visible portion of the nest as I requested. He told me to contact him in 7 – 10 days if the wasps were still around. Seven days later, the wasps were gone and it was safe to go into my backyard again. Yay! I didn’t know anything about a Unilocal discount, but they gave us a discount for being in West Hartford. Maybe it’s the local discount? Anyway, the price was fair and they solved my wasp problem.

I contacted this company for a quote to deal with a hornet infestation in my home. I worked with the manager, Sandy, who seemed pleasant and asked questions about our specific problem, explained available discounts etc. She stated that the quote was good for 24 hours and that it would be fine to call back after discussing this with my husband. Within 10 minutes I received a voicemail saying that they were withdrawing the bid. When I called back to ask why(we are in a new home and I thought maybe there were outstanding issues with the old owners that I wanted to clear up) and she kept interrupting to say me that she does not have to give a reason, that she has no interest in doing business with me, and that she just wants me off the phone. I would recommend saving yourself a headache, and calling a company with a better reputation for customer service.

The technician was awesome, but the office personnel were very difficult to work with. They pitched a fit about redeeming the Unilocal $ 100 voucher, and, after spending 10 minutes on the phone with them, we finally came to an agreement that made me lose about $ 50 in value. The technician was a great guy and tried to show good customer service. Still, I don’t think that I’ll use these folks again…
