This place has excellent food. Above and beyond most restaurants. I just cannot understand WHY they give you water from the tap if you ask for water. WHY can’t they FILTER it? This happened to my wife and I today on 6−5−16. Please Luigi’s, fix this!

Very disappointed in the meal I had from this restaurant. I ordered the house specialty — Chicken Neopolitan. To begin my meal I opted for the house salad with the house dressing instead of soup. The waitress told me the house dressing was a caesar dressing. It was not anything like caesar dressing. The dressing was dumped in a huge glob on the lettuce and it tasted like mayonnaise. It was awful! Next it was time for the Chicken Neopolitan. I expected a fantastic dish since this is a house specialty, but I was sadly mistaken. The chicken did not taste like it had been marinated at all and was very rubbery. There was so much pepper-jack cream sauce dumped on this dish that it was spilling off the plate on two sides. The risotto was not cooked enough and was hard as a rock. The overall presentation of this dish was horrible! Very disappointed in this«house specialty» dish!

When I visit different cities I try to find their local, off the beaten path type places. This pizza place is located in a neighborhood and was packed with people. It is small so you may have to wait for a bit but it is worth it. We were seated pretty quickly and our waitress was awesome. We told her we were from out of town and she was delighted that we had found Luigi’s because they are usually a locals only type place. You can get a lot of food for your money here! The 10 inch pizza was filling and you could do up to 5 toppings of your choice. The bread and cracker basket was great to snack on while we waited for pizza as well. They had a good selection of wine and beer. Only a couple of small TVs over the bar so it wasn’t crowded with sports fans but it was nice to have the option of seeing what the score was without a huge screen in front of your face. I highly recommend if you are near Luigi’s giving it a shot.

I have never in the over 10 years I’ve been going to this restaurant have I ever had the WORSTEXPERIENCEINMYLIFE!!! It being Mother’s Day, I completely understand that the restaurant would be busy but when you have several customers coming and going and over hour and half later still not receiving your food and then finding out that your order hasn’t been put in, it’s an f’n shock! The owner was EXTREMELY unprofessional, a server even elbowed the crap out of my husband in the back while he was standing at the bar ordering a drink because our server was taking too long!!! I’m so damn disappointed in this place!!! 2 hours later, only after 10 min of complaining that we haven’t received our food, the owner asked what of our order did we want cancelled yet 10 minutes later, after we said that we were starving, he put the order in & we got our damn food!!! My friend still paid full price like the moron he is!!! NEVER will we ever go back to this restaurant as well as the several people we normally go with!!!

This little gem came as a recommendation of a friend!!! This place is the real deal type of small, quaint, homemade, delectable all wrapped into one sweet little Italian restaurant bundle of deliciousness! I tried a meal here alone sitting at the bar on a Saturday night! Jam packed and if you want a table(you do) you will wait… So sip some red wine and wait and bask in the simple perfection that this little place owns… I brought my daughter back here in the same week for a celebration dinner… It has a history & its food is delicious… Service is perfect! Don’t pass this one by!

Last time I went back the manager noticed that I was expecting and took very good care of us. It was very classy service!

If you have lived in the area for any time or checked out Harrison Township you know Luigi’s has some of the best Italian food around. Well we figured we could get there early enough to bypass the line and luckily we did we got the last open table at 4:30 on a Saturday. Well the Bread Basket was perfect. My wife had the Luigi’s Whitefish it was excellent served with a ice cold delicious salad and a cup of their shrimp bisque soup let’s just say she was chirping like a robin in a tree on a spring morning. I had the veal Alla Olio thinly sliced veal slices in white wine garlic capers and some red roasted Peppers sliced thin on top needless to say delicious. Also came with the most awesome salad and a side of angel hair. You can’t go wrong at Luigi’s, plan on a wait if you get there any day it’s open after 5 o’clock well worth the wait things move quick and there’s still plenty of people having fun out in the parking lot if you know what I mean. I frequent this place always have a good time and meal. By the way the pizza is a thin crust with sesame seeds around the outside and it is an awesome and Epic Pie. More to come on Luigi’s

A throwback restaurant! For appetizer had shrimp Rockefeller– mmmm. Good. Shrimp bisque soup, shared with a salad. Very good! Lasagna and linguine, with meatballs, shared also. Almost perfect, could have been served at a higher temperature. Plenty of leftovers! A decent bottle of Pinot, added to the mix. Good service and all for $ 100 with tip!

I have to say that this was one of my favorite places to eat for many, many years. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has dropped dramatically on everything except the pizza. I ordered a carry out with Extra bread since I’m traveling almost an hour to get to their location. The kid in carry out was rude when I asked for more and said ‘you have enough’!! Wtf? I’m a paying customer and was willing to pay extra to get what I ordered. To make matters worse, my carry out order was screwed up, items missing and when I called back to let them know, Dean told me he was going to ‘send me out a voucher for the missing food’. Needless to say it never came Sorry to say Luigi’s you just lost your biggest fan

This is the best restaurant on the Eastside! The food is excellent and the staff is wonderful! I would eat here everyday if I could! I love the shrimp scampi, salamon, and steaks. The pizza is also to die for. If you think it is not worth the wait, you are wrong.

Moved to the area recently and everyone has hounded me that I have to try Luigi’s! Well I have tried tonight and I love it! Long wait to get a table, but worth the wait! The starters were heaven! Great Pepper Shrimp and the risotto was amazing! The server was wonderful. She was on top of everything and gave me some of the best service I ever received! Had a super delicious steak and the potatoes were yummy. They had a great selection of wines. The dessert menu was to die for. The crème brûlée was delicious! I recommend this HIGHLY!

Yummmmm… Yummmm… More Yummmmm… This place… This place is great… Need I say more? I just wanted to give Luigis another pat on the back, that it so richly deserves. We had.ahem.#thepizza(nawww…not you Shannon) and we got the option where you choose 6 toppings… it was a great value and we rocked that pizza out! Service was tip top. Like I said, you don’t need me telling you what to do… Just do it! :-)

My wife and I decided to try Luigi’s thanks to a reference from a good friend. We were told the Veal was the best in town. Well, that’s just not quite correct. We started by being seated at the bar while we waited for our table. The place was SLAMMED on a Sunday evening. Pretty impressive. We had a nice bartender who was hustling and doing a great job. We finally got our table and ordered our food. Our service was wonderful by the way. No complaints at all there. I did try the Veal Parm. It was ok, even good I guess. I got a huge helping along with some pasta. The sause is average at best. It’s sort of bitter IMO. There is much better to be had in the Detroit area. My wife had Chicken picata which she liked but was not thoroughly impressed. All in all, this place is a nice little haunt on Jefferson and worthy of a try. I would never say the food was bad. But what I would say is that it is merely average or maybe just a hair better than average. I think there is much better Italian food to be had in the metro area.

I was very hesitant to bring my family here after reading Unilocal reviews. But that’s the restaurant I had picked out because it was near where my family lives. We arrived at 5 p.m. They weren’t busy yet! There were five of us. Three adults and 2 children. We were seated immediately. The waitress brought out a basket of fresh bread and it includes flat everything crackers and 2 different kinds of bread sticks. Very nice. The menu was quite large with lots of selections. I spyed another table getting oyster Rockefellers and it looked amazing. We started off with Lamb chop appetizers with feta, tomato and spinach. They were fantastic. So juicy and tender. It comes with 3 chops. Our dishes were Chicken Piccatta, White Fish, Butterfly Shrimp and Ravioli. Everyone loved their meal. I had the Chicken Piccatta with additional artichokes. Awesome. We didn’t get dessert, but a Spanish coffee and cappuccino. Both were excellent. Why not 5 stars? The prices. I personally thought they were out of line. 3 adults 2 children(1 didn’t eat) and the bill was $ 115.00. The service was excellent and worth the 20%. I will likely go back because the food and services was great. However, I’ll bring more cash.

This is based on the fact that the place doesn’t take reservations and has very little seating for walk in customers who are forced to find a place at the bar where drunk old regulars hang out waiting to sit down. If the food is good I will never know because we couldn’t wait 40 – 50 minutes in the heat outside on the edge of the lake with bugs and humidity to eat some pasta. This is a very small place, and you can tell it is full of regulars, who happen to be elderly boaters who cant get enough alcohol in them so they keep drinking and making all kinds of racket! The atmosphere in there is conducive to that of a race track, very loud and very tight, with old drunks leading the way!!! Forget about it!

Love Luigi’s! Dependable for a really good meal and fresh ingredients. Very good service even when diners are lined up out the door! Never had a bad meal here. Expect a wait on Friday Saturday Sunday evenings. This place is ALWAYS busy. Will dine here again!

Absolutely the worst tomato sauce I’ve had. Fall apart meatballs; taste and texture were terrible. Dreading for the salad; I have no idea what they did but a nice olive oil, oregano, a little wine vinegar would have been far superior what they used. I will say the pizza looked great though I didn’t try it. People at the next table had one… I wanted to join them. I use ATT Cellular and there was no signal in the front room. I’m not one for using a phone in a restaurant however in the case of an emergency it’s nice to know someone can reach you . I’m giving two stars for the pizza that looked so good.

Just had my birthday dinner here. Waited 15 minutes for a table with my family of 3, which we expected. Bread, salad and cheese ravioli was amazing always. But, today we ordered a special dessert since it was my birthday and all! The crème brûlée was cold, I’ve always had it room temp or warm. The taste was so good that I want more right now, but the coldness just didn’t do it for me.

I was really tempted to give two stars, but went up to three for a single reason… the cajun crawfish that I got a taste of. Excuse me if my ignorance gets the best of me in this review, as I’m not certain how restaurants work exactly, but here ‘goes… Came in with a group of 7 right as they opened at 4pm… we were the second group inside(the one in front of us was just two people) and we were quickly seated. My first impression of the place was that I thought it looked interesting — kind of like someone turned their basement into a restaurant, but that it was definitely cramped. My sister insists that my family ate here fairly often when I lived in St. Clair Shores, but that was when I was about 5, so I don’t recall… anyway, yeah, I quickly learned Luigi’s is a poor restaurant choice for a group of probably more than four. After getting our drinks, we were given complimentary bread, which was super hot, pillowy, and tasty… great start so far, but it the waitress seemed to take ages to give us refills(she would even take our glasses and walk away with them for a few minutes at a time before they were filled), and took awhile to take our orders. As she was finally taking our orders, we saw tables around us already getting their soup and salad. What gives? It was about an hour after getting in(so, 5pm) before we finally got our main courses. A man, presumably the owner, told us the pizzas a few at our table ordered would be out in «2−3 minutes», but it was more like 10 – 15 before we finally got them and our other plates of food. By this time, a few groups of people had already left the restaurant because they had already eaten and gotten their bill. Also by this time, there was already a crowd of people huddled around the tiny bar area — yeah, it doesn’t take long for Luigi’s to reach maximum capacity at all. After eating, it then took at least half an hour to finally get our bill. The waitress seemed to constantly walk back and forth, but never gave us it. We finally decided to leave, and by then, it was 6:30. So the waiting and waitressing was pretty awful, but how was the food??? Decent. I opted to get the Pasta Casino and wasn’t super impressed with it. For about $ 20, you get a huge portion of pasta with a LOT of baby clams, but I would swear the bacon in it is microwaved bacon, just judging by the thin, pink transparency of it. It all tasted pretty decent, but not like something someone would ever pay $ 20 for more than once. The pizza is apparently Luigi’s signature item(according to people I’ve heard talk about it, anyway), and I liked it, but it wasn’t jaw-droppingly good. The crust was pretty chewy(not a con) and the sauce had a great flavor, but it’s not a pizza I’d strongly suggest people to eat — it is a pretty nice value though, considering the obvious freshness of the ingredients. Like I said from the start, the bite I had of the cajun crawfish was incredible and I’ll definitely get that the next time I’m at Luigi’s. Gonna wrap this up… the moral of the story is – and I’ve learned my lesson — don’t come to Luigi’s with a party of more than four. The restaurant is simply too small, and the service is just too slow… at the same time, that doesn’t excuse quite literally everybody in the small restaurant getting their food before us, though I, again, have no idea how restaurants and their tickets work. I wasn’t really impressed with Luigi’s, in large part because of the wait and waitressing. The food wasn’t half as good as so many of these other reviewers suggest either, but it’s a place I’d certainly re-try with one-to-three other people at most.

This GEM is my favorite. It is intimate, great for a date night or with another couple. The kitchen ALWAYS has a good night. Did I say I really love the food here? This is the real deal Italian not the Olive Garden. I find it so difficult to pick just one entrée that’s why we share two or three. The kitchen is so gracious, they split the entrées in the kitchen for us. Some must trys –chicken neopaliton, gnochi, arancini, lamb chops… ENJOY there is not a bad thing on the menu. If you dine on a week day there may not be a wait.
