Mid sized market that is open officially from April to September on Mondays according to the website. I’ve been going here for about two years and last year they may have gone over a few weeks in October. Hours are stated as 4 – 7 but they start setting up by 3:00 and often when I pull up around 3:30 — 3:45 they will already have a crowd. I like the hours; as morning markets can be hard to arrive bright and early but 4:00 is easier to do. Basic open air country market; about half the size of the one on Winecoff School rd in Concord. Not everything is Metrolina area grown but ask and they will tell you where it’s from. The crowd is predominantly older or families. Don’t come expecting to find anything organic, although there is one vendor that has juicy reasonably priced non sprayed blueberries that have been picked that morning. He also has some local honey that has not been sprayed and is easy on the wallet. T&D Farms is out here with the best pork chops in town. And at the height of summer you will find loads of huge meaty Cherokee purple tomatoes that give you a reason to tolerate the summer heat. I’m obsessed with those dusky colored tomatoes and always buy more than I should but they never go to waste. Because one day in September they will be gone… The Harrisburg Market may not be the biggest around nor as trendy as Atherton; however it has friendly vendors, ample parking and some great products. If you’re in Harrisburg you are probably already visiting. It’s only 10 miles thru the back way from Highland Creek and well worth a visit.
