Navy Federal Credit Union

Try getting a VA refinance. Yea that is sarcasm. Problems listed below:
1. The initial call on a Wednesday first representative states terms of loan. Reviews your $ 12.50 credit report. Then tells you everything you need. Mails you the application Friday. You get the application Monday evening (5pm). The letter in the envelope says your application is supposed to be back at their office before the next day… lol. You call the office the next day to get an extension… A note is sent to your representative requesting an extension… No answer from your representative. Lol
2. Application is faxed to your non present representative from a local branch on the due date. Three to four days later you get a phone call from an unknown number. Guess who is calling… lol. A new representative. This representative is not familiar with VA loans and is not informed of the information collected by the first or initial representative. Secondly, this representative never bothered to review the application you spent the time to fill out.
3. Their estimate of closing fees is filled with errors and exorbitant prices for their fees. Their own application states that you can obtain your own closing service, when you gave them your closing service point of contact, address, and phone number… They refuse to contact your closing service to update their poorly written estimate for closing costs. In other words, you are going to eat their exorbitantly priced closing fees and along with the errors that will cost you 40 percent more… lol.
4. The most backwards and idiotic thing is next… hold onto your seat… The new representative calls you back almost a week later demanding to know what are the fees that your closing service will be charging!!! Lol. You ask your representative what was the purpose of the credit union sending the loan application requesting your closing service contact information if the credit union was never going to contact your closing service in the first place? Secondly, how are you going to know what your closing service is going to charge in fees if the credit union never contacted your closing service and gave them the information they need to generate the fees in the first place… I know your probably thinking this can’t be real right? Lol, yes it is.
5. Just imagine all this waste of your time… the new representative calls back almost a week later asking you how are you going to handle your closing costs… lol. Wait a second, you think to yourself, aren’t I applying for a VA refinance loan, and aren’t the closing costs added to the back of the loan? This process is mentioned in the VA certificate of eligibility application included with the loan application sent from the credit union. But your representative asks you…“Did you read your loan application? «I about lost it there… lol
6. Cutting the story short… you get a phone call the next day rehashing the above mentioned information again but this time the supervisor calls you again to rerehash the same information again.
What they want from what I figure is that you are going to use their 50% owned closing service period!!! You will pay those outlandish fees and errors and you will like it and thank them for it. Lol. Yes, I cancelled that loan and told them to have a nice day. Don’t fall for their low rates because they will stick it to you in the closing process. You have been warned.

I love this bank and any location they have. Their phone service is great, u can get someone on the phone at all times. ²⁴⁄₇. I tell them I like the bank every time I call :) I’ve had them for going on 3 yrs and I plan to stay with them for ever :)

Been my main bank for 9yrs always had great service in the states & outside the US really helpful members & reps plus they have an iPhone banking app also great plus: D

Great customer service, Location is clean and easy to get too. The staff is friendly and willing to help. They also had a better interest rate on a 3 yr CD then a place more local to Austin.
I would use this FCU another time — they were helpful and friendly.
