Lions Run Apartments

At first, Lions Run was a decent place to live for a decent price. However, the longer my fiancé and I lived here, the worse the problems became. Below are the problems, in order of progressive seriousness:
1) Broken cupboard: There was a noticeably broken cupboard in our kitchen. This wasn’t a grave issue, however compared to the same day maintenance turnover at my previous apartment complex, I did notice that it took over 5 days for the cupboard to get fixed.
2) Ants: The apartment conducts pest control presumably as a routine (we’ve lived here 6 months and they conducted one the first month we lived here). I called to have a maintenance request since the ants found their way from the kitchen to the bathroom. An exterminator came, however the ant problem continues to persist (our main food cupboard normally has ants and I’ve learned to ant-​proof certain items). Now I put items far away from the kitchen (which is awkward and inconvenient) to ensure they don’t get into the food.
3) Packages delivered to the office: Since it is difficult for me to leave Fort Hood during the day due to the rigors of my job, I would usually call the office to inquire whether or not a package came for me. When you call after hours, an automated message plays, assuring you that your call «will be» addressed during normal business hours. This was not the case. Most of the time I would leave a message, only to have the office not call me back. There may have been some technical difficulties with my phone, however the office keeps record of email addresses and could have communicated the status of my mail to me via email.
4) More recently we discovered that our air conditioner wasn’t functioning properly. We reported the problem immediately the next morning around 0800 (office opens at this time) and the office said they would address it. Though they did, they failed to inform us that the issue was not fixed. It was only after we took the initiative to follow up on the issue did we learn that the problem would not be fixed until the following week. I spoke with the representatives at the office to see if they had a spare fan or if perhaps we could get some sort of a discount to rent as it is an air conditioned apartment that we are paying for. Both requests were not met. I was told that if Lions Run had met our request at getting a discount, then all customers with maintenance issues should get a discount too. I asked that question under the logic that lack of AC in TX summer weather constituted an emergency or at least some sort of reimbursement to account for 5 unbearable nights of heat (we even purchased a fan but it only blew hot air). Apparently not. Thus, we endured 4 days and 5 nights without AC in high 80 – 90 degree weather. More importantly, we were surprised to learn that piece of equipment needed to fix the AC had to be ordered and that spare parts weren’t kept on hand.
I would not recommend this apartment to anyone. As a customer, I felt that I had suffered for the lack of preventative checks/​services that Lions Run did not conduct on equipment that is commonly used due to severe summer heat. I also felt that I was not valued as a customer, since blistering heat wasn’t enough to have the maintenance personnel work during the weekend nor to have the office representatives keep me constantly updated of the status.
Normally, I wouldn’t list issues 1 – 3, but I feel it is important to support my one-​star rating.
