The service and presentation here are top notch for a mom and pop Mexican restaurant! The flavor of the food wasn’t so great. Chile relleno was obviously premade, then topped with a less than stellar mixture of cooked tomatoes, onions, and Chile. There was a lot of cheese, but it had no flavor… none. Chile Verde lacked that characteristic tang. Overall, it was bad quality l, but the flavor isnt something I’d come back.

I love this place. I come here often, there are so many great dishes to pick. The Chili Colorado is so silky, smooth and tasty. The beans are so flavorful! The Green Chili Wet Burrito is also very good! The Garden salad is enough for two people. The owners are very lovely people, always so welcoming! Try this place you will not be disappointed!

Staff was really friendly. The food was super pricey for what it was. It wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t bad. I got 3 chicken tacos, 1 carnitas taco and one asada torta and the check was 24 $… Tad too pricey for me!

This place just keeps getting better. I come here all the time and the waitress/owner remembers everything just the way I like it. Prices are very fair. My glass is always topped off thanks to the very very sweet owner. I can’t say enough good things about this joint. I bring all my coworkers here and they always love it. Carnitas are sick as tits. Well almost. Tits are the best, then there’s monarcas carnitas.

I love this place. This is a family run restaurant and my company actually caters a lot of food from this place. They have a variety of Food items that I have tried over the years and the quality and quantity never changes. I can always count on my order being the same, super delicious. My recommendations are the tortas, tostadas, burritos and the shrimp cocktails :) also ask for their spicy salsa. It has a pretty good kick and tastes yummy with the food. You know this place is good if they continually cater to my company :) A plus is the complimentary chips and salsa.

Man, not quite sure why Monarca’s gets so many stars. The service was nice and friendly, the décor homey and clean, but… the food was way below average. I won’t be going back. If you want better Mexican, go the extra 5 minutes to Taco El Gallito.

I am so opleased to see this cozy little restaurant nearby… first off you are greeted by these warm older mexican ladies in quaint mexican outfits. A true taste of of a family restaurant in a barrio of Morelia… The taste reflects those of the State of Michoacan the wintering ground for the Monarch butterfly… Hence the name Monarcas. A true test of an authentic mexican is to try the Pozole. This was good tasting I orders the chicken pozole.

This place is really really good. I been coming here since it opened and the only disappointment is I just found out the Santiago mole is gone. The food is so well prepared you’d think your abuelita cooked it. My wife loves the milanesa from her. I like everything the serve. It’s all good and definitely can’t go wrong. Please do yourself a favor try it I’m sure your going to like it.

It’s funny… I use Unilocal to research places when my wife & I go out of town, but rarely ever use it for restaurants close to home. We’ve become creatures of habit these days, and it takes a lot to get us to try someplace new. We showed up on a Saturday afternoon with two other groups seated for an early dinner. The lone server was rushing to keep us all happy, and she did an amazing job. Marie got an order of fish soup & the chicken salad. She ate until she was ready to burst, and still took enough food home for another couple of meals. Since it was our first time, I ordered the hard shell beef & chicken tacos, along with the Monarch burrito with chicken. All were delicious! I fully expected to take some of my dinner home, but ended up eating it all there. I’m a big guy, and I walked out of there full. We will definitely go back!

I had the cheese enchilada beef taco combo. I give it a strong 7 out of 10. I didn’t care for the enchilada sauce at all, but my taco and rice/beans were delectable. They should offer a hotter salsa option or taco sauce. I needed spice.

REALLLYREALLLY good Caldo and Pozole. As good as it gets to Mom’s homemade cadlo de pollo and pozole. Bonus is that its served everyday. Family business that truly cares about the customer and quality of what the serve and how. Highly recommend for anyone that is looking for Mom’s cooking.

My friend and I were in the area and stumbled upon this place through Unilocal. To start, the salsa is excellent. I can’t remember the last time I went to a Mexican restaurant where they served chunky salsa. It was fresh and had a little kick. I decided to order the chicken burrito with a cup of albondigas soup. The burrito was one of the most amazing burritos I have ever had! I was expecting the chicken to be shredded, because that’s how most restaurants i go to make it. The chicken was very well seasoned and came in stewed pieces. The burrito was great throughout, with rice, beans, tomatoes, cilantro etc… and it was GIANT. The albondigas soup was light and flavorful made with fresh veggies a meatball. My friend enjoyed a fluffy chile relleno accompanied by rice and beans. The service was great, we had a very friendly and attentive waitress. I was surprised at how empty the place was, but there are dozens of Mexican restaurants in this area… there’s even another one in the same small plaza. All in all, I highly recommend this place.

What a great little Mexican restaurant. I happened to stumble into Monarca’s one evening to purchase some food to go. I was going to be staying overnight at the Kaiser Permanente across the street and I didn’t want to go hungry. I walked into this small restaurant and was warmly greeted by the woman at the register. I took a quick glance around. It was late and the place was empty, but decorated quite nicely. They had just mopped the floor and I was tracking my dirty footprints all over it. I felt bad. Almost wanted to grab a nearby mop to clean up after myself. But the woman seemed eager to take my order. I ordered the taco salad with carnitas. As i waited, she offered me a glass of water and salsa & chips. While this is common in many Mexican Restaurants, I find it rare when you’re ordering To-Go. I appreciated her thoughftulness. It took a while before my food was ready, but I suspect this was due to me arriving shortly before they close. I took the to-go bag, bid her a good evening, and headed to Kaiser. Once I had a chance to settle in and eat my food, I was rewarded with a surprisingly large & delicious meal. The shell was just ok but everything inside it was delicious. The carnitas had a good amount of flavor and were juicy. I devoured the taco salad as if I hadn’t eaten for days. By the time I finished, it felt like my gut was gonna burst. It was a huge meal and I was slipping into a food coma. Good thing I was in a hospital. J/K. All in all, if Monarca’s were closer to my home, it’d be my go-to place for my Mexican food fix. Decent prices, friendly service, large portions and delicious as well. A winner in my book.

This is a really cute MOM/POP shop. It’s near my other office and I was craving Mexican food. It’s right next to another Mexican restuarant I like but I saw the reviews for this one and wanted to try it. I got the fish taco and al pastor burrito. FOOD: Free nachos and salsa… woot. The fish taco was alright — not the typical deep fried fish. It was grilled and I felt like it didn’t have much flavor so I asked for hot sauce and it helped a little but but it needed more salsa/flavor. It tasted really bland. The burrito was good. I love al pastor and I put lots of salsa on it and it helped with the flavor. I think this place has a little problem with flavoring but with the salsa I asked for, it helped. I think the flavoring needs something. They were good propotions tho! SERVICE: Very good service. They are quick and really friendly. NOTE: $ 10 credit card min Parking in area
