A customer service commandment should be, «if you are going to offer a service, make sure your guest has an excellent experience.» I dined at this Denny’s today(5÷15÷2016) for breakfast. My girlfriend and I arrived at around 10:30, and after a short wait were seated — in the back video poker room. A server was prompt to take our drink order, and after a few minutes, our food order. This is where things began to falter — it took quite a while to get our food, and I suspected it would not be hot. This was true. Everything was just slightly warm. Our server returned not long after to check in on us, and I let him know how the food was. He apologized and took it all back to be prepared again. Management probably had him dealing with a lot of tables, because it was another lengthy weight for our food. This time, it was worse than the previous time as far as temperature(butter not melting on a waffle, for instance). At this point one of the managers came by(and I should have gotten his name, so I could thank him here publicly) and we told him about the food quality; he offered to comp our bill. This was done proactively, by the way, so I have to give our server and this manager props for taking the initiative. If management is reading this review, I would say it was around 11:00 a.m. that this manager came by with the offer to comp the bill. I can’t give this review a higher rating as the overall experience was spoiled, but five stars to staff who are committed to ensuring their guest is taken care of.

3SOLIDSTARS and this is why… It is Denny’s, you probably grew up with it, late night Moons over My Hammy with .79 cent coffee and that gold tin ashtray. OK so no ashtray and no more cheap coffee. But on a evening when you are just looking for some mediocre food We had our lovely daughter in tow and believe it or not, this was perfect, as the only other people in this place were 2 other families and their kids. Entertainment all around. The servers were nice and swift and flexible. The food is what is expected. Hot food. Well Priced. Consistent and friendly. The place is CLEAN. CON: No bar, only Budweiser is bottles. Missed opportunity on more selection. Go Figure.

It’s Denny’s people. I’m giving it 5 stars because it met all the marks its supposed to live up too. It’s cheap. It’s low class. It’s run down. It’s Denny’s. If you’re on Unilocal,so desperate for food that you’re looking up Denny’s than you should already know, ITSDENNYS. There isn’t anything else to say. It’s Denny’s. Denny’s people. Denny’s.

This place used to be cheap which played perfect to their clientele. Now they are spendy and are delivering the same food. If you’re going to charge 10 dollars per plate then you better be on par with places like Biscuits and Cadillac Café. I used to love coming here and getting the 6 dollar grand slam but those days are over. The inside is dingy and ambience is old and boring. Probably won’t be back unless i have to.

Oh man… I thought the Denny’s in Canby was bad. It took 20 minutes to even get our food and it was still wrong. Sent it back… and after 20 more minutes it didn’t come back. So we left. 45 minutes. No food and the manager, Steve, couldn’t care less. The server was slower and older than any Walmart greeter. Calling corporate. Again. Like Denny’s really cares.

I had a doctors appointment over by this Denny’s and thought I’d stop in and get breakfast. I really wish I drove by and went anywhere else. I waited 5 min to be seated and the place was almost empty. I ordered a skillet and some coffee. When I got my food it took up about half the skillet. I asked the waitress if I ordered a half order and she laughed, set down the bill and walked away. That was the last time I seen her. When I went to pay I asked to speak to a manager and told him about my experience. His response was«Oh I guess you want your meal for free» so I dropped $ 11 dollars on the table and walked out. I’m NEVER going back

Sadly we were hungry and thought it would be a great idea to stop here… Well, think again! The extra crispy hash browns were served on a plate with a ¼ of oil… The service was so slow we never got butter to go with our cold pancakes. Oh and a refill for coffee never happened… Also my water glass sat there empty. I will NEVER come back here again, ever. I don’t care how hungry I am. There are way too many good places in portland to eat. No sense in spending your hard earned money here!

Let me start with the good, because there isnt much: The inside is clean. Its a late night diner, so I dont know why anyone is complaining. The food is good what it is. Complete meals at a Dennys for less than $ 8. Are the people who are complaining actually thinking they are gonna get 5 star quality food at a fucking Dennys at 2AM? Pull your head out of your ass. The food is just fine. The bad: The downside of this particular Dennys is a deal breaker. The service is the worst I have experienced in Portland. That is not a joke. I have been into this Dennys twice. Both times it took at least 15 minutes before I even placed an order. Both times there were only one other table of guests. That is unacceptable to me. After that, the food came out in about 20 minutes. Again, with a total of 5 patrons in the restaurant, that isnt good. Both times I went, I ordered the all you can eat pancakes. Both times they brought out 2 pancakes, then only came back 30 minutes later with my bill. WTF? My party of 3 all ordered drinks which were never refilled in the hour we were there. Again, there were a total of 5 people in the place. What was also weird was the manager was there the whole time, watching us eat, but never did anything about the lack of service. That is a deal breaker. Overall, I would say stay away from this place, no matter how drunk and hungry you are. Other Dennys I have been to are great for what they are. This one is ran by an incompetent manager and should be avoided. I have never said that in a Unilocal review, but this one warrants it.

The breakfast is what keeps me going back over and over again. It doesn’t hurt that this location is directly across the street from Clackamas Town Center.

I gave this rating based on the food, not the ambiance. I had an Ultimate Skillet, but had them to substitute extra spinach for the potatoes to keep it low carb. I get these at a lot of different Denny’s but THIS was the best one I’ve ever had! The place could use an extreme makeover though.

I kinda feel like throwing up. I wish I had just gone to a drive through burger joint. Seriously nasty stuff. This is eight hours later, my husband is sick too. I still feel like vomiting. Please don’t eat here.

Hmm. The horribleness of last night’s experience may have been attributed to our party size being approximately 25 oddly garbed, strange talking, people your parents warned you about types. After a long session of LARPing we were hungry, in dire need of caffeine, and an“afters” discussion on how the evenings event went. It took about 15 minutes for the first of to even have our orders taken, and another 15 before the first drink was served. After that, you had to practically get down on your knees and beg for a coffee or soda refill as the waiter did his best to not look in the table’s general direction lest he be required to actually help one of us. Completely unimpressed with the quality of food, my omelet was cold by the time it was presented to me, and rather sloppy looking. From the comments made from one end of the table to the other, I was not alone in the disappointment. If it wasn’t that this seems to be the preferred location for post-talks, I would not recommend returning here. Ever.

I love this place! The food is WAY better than Sherri’s!

This Denny’s is stuck in a 1970’s time capsule, and not in a good way. The décor, lighting, fixtures all looked tired and worn, and the ambiance was that of a small town rundown diner. The waitress fitted right in with that post-rehab, off-strip Vegas rough look. Nothing much is open late in this part of town(new mapping now puts this Denny’s in Happy Valley) so people looking for that 2AM breakfast end up here. The food is familiar high fat short-order cooked fare with lots of calories, salt and sugar. Good old American all star breakfast and shakes! I can’t deny that dives can have their charm, but its not cute when a national chain is slumming it.
