I wanted to like Broken Cookie, but not only are their products mediocre at best, but they are never fresh. Being the first bakery to open in Hanover, I used to visit frequently, because I am a sugar fanatic and their black bottoms are pretty good, but after one too many stale cookies and dried out cupcakes(that must have been at least 3 – 4 days old), I vowed never to return. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra few miles and go to Jacquelyn’s Bake Shop in South Hanover for a far superior experience on every level.

In love with this adorable little coffee shop!!! The cappuccinos and coffee drinks are perfect and there’s a lot of flavor choices. Her black bottoms are the best I’ve had in this area. The cookies are delicious as well. Very moist and flavorful! I also love that I can bring my 5 year old and 1 ½ year old in and they can enjoy a juice and a cupcake while they play in the kiddie area while I chat up with my girlfriends. Very friendly service!

I’ve only been to The Broken Cookie once, but I can honestly say I’ll never go back. Right off the bat, the older woman at the counter was extremely rude. I am a baker myself and asked some questions about the business, which I guess to her meant she should act snooty and too good to talk to the likes of me. Anyway, my husband got a chocolate chip cookie and we agreed that it was far from great. I got a peanut butter tart, which was pretty tasty and the only reason they are getting two stars.

I read some of the other reviews and just had to post. I moved into Hanover a little over a year ago. Since then I have been in this shop atleast once a week(some times more for their delicious coffee!). I have never had any bad experiences here ever. The ladies are extremely friendly and helpful. I have tried their cupcakes, cookies, and lattes. My parents had their cake and thought it was extremely moist and delicious. They are even making my cupcakes for my wedding. Their prices are extremely reasonable and they didn’t up charge me just because I said the word«wedding.» Which most places do. Not to mention, she helped me find cheap(but awesome) flowers. I’m not sure why the other reviewer had such a bad attitute, but this place is one of my favorites in Hanover.

I tried the bakery items here 3x already thinking that it was going to be better each time. I don’t know how this young female owner is still in business. There is never nobody in the shop and I pass through there a lot to get Subway, Chinese food, or go to Dollar General. Every single time I went in there she looked like someone just shit in her cereal. I even went in there two days in a row and she didn’t even look enthused that I maybe, might have, liked something from the shop and came back for more? She makes you feel so awkward that your standing in her store and I even tried to conversant with her and she wasn’t very responsive. The place is cute on the outside but the inside is so bland and gloomy with dark brown everything. She Also sells weird gift baskets with things that have nothing to do with her store or baking. Another thing she sells is day old cupcakes for little to nothing and other bakery items that are old. That’s just so uninviting. THETHINGS I ATE: I had a peanut butter and chocolate frappé, thinking it was going to taste like Reese’s Cups, I was horribly mistaken! The peanut butter whatever the fuck she squirted in there tasted so generic, I couldn’t tell the difference between that and blended grass. The big cheesecake cupcake was the only thing that was good, but it had a weird crust on the bottom that had wayyy to much cinnamon in it. Every single cupcake I had tasted like they were from a 2 day old kids bake sale. CUPCAKES: White chocolate macadamia nut= Was so gross I had to spit it out. It tasted like the nuts were sitting in a plastic container for a year– EXTREMELYEXPIRED! Red velvet= didn’t taste like anything. No flavor except for the vanilla icing which 90% of her cupcakes are topped with(which makes them all taste the same!) Chocolate Snickers= Very average. Nothing popped about it. Strawberry= was ok, had vanilla icing. Thank you for reading/letting me vent!

Espresso drinks are delicious! Haven’t had a bad bakery item and have tried many of them over several visits. My faves are the root beer cupcake and fruit tart.
