This is by far the saddest remnant of a one time regional giant. Filthy floors. Menus stick to your hands, table tops with glass ring marks all over them chairs sticky. Uniforms old and dirty kitchen area, cashier area. Food cold. Not a glimmer of the Friendly’s of days gone bye. Actually sad. No sign of management clearly a sinking brand. Do not go here

This place SUCKS!!! The people are lazy, it’s dirty and the food taste like s#*}t… When and if it EVER comes. When we walked in the lazy waitress looked at the other woman who worked there who was apparently on a permanent break sitting in a booth and said«great, four more people». Half the tables in the restaurant were covered with used dishes and after 20 mins of sitting at a table and not getting even a glass of water… We got up and left. We come to this town every year the same weekend for a soccer tournament and made the mistake of coming back this year after our horrible service the year before BIGMISTAKE!!’

They should rename this place«The Wait». Wait wait wait wait to be seated. Then you wait wait wait for a waitperson to take the order. Wait wait wait for the food. Wait wait wait for the check. Wait wait wait for someone to pick up the check. The waitstaff works in ultra-slow-motion. Also, there’s no place to hang your hat and coat. Been there a zillion times cuz it’s nearby, but it never improves.

In January we went into this Friendly’s to get some Ice Cream. They were out of 2 of the flavours we asked for. We went again in the spring and they were out of flavours we wanted. Then last week I went in craving a Heath bar crunch Freeze only to be told they did not have heath bar and then the cherry on top, pun intended. On Sunday we went in and 3 people in our party ordered Sundaes and when the waitress brought them to the table she put them down in front of us and calmly said«we are out of cream». She knew there was no cream but never informed us when we ordered the Sundaes. How can you send out a Sundae without cream and how is it possible for a restaurant that specializes in Ice cream dishes to run out cream. There is a Stop and Shop 5 min down the road… send someone to get cream if you are out. That was the final straw for us. This Friendly’s will never see us again. The DQ is further away but at least they always have what we want

There are just some things you have to eat at Friendly’s when the cravings hit. One of our favs are the waffle fries with all the good stuff. Another is the honey BBQ chicken supermelt. Are they great? Not particularly. Are they necessary? Yes. Sometimes. Service is almost always harried — they usually need more staff on since the ones they have are just not up to the volume of customers. Would I go back? Of course — you can’t fight it when it hits you. Ice cream is pretty good as well. I usually regret the salt hangover I have afterwards but try not to go too often ;)

The food was solid but this review was mostly for the service. As a father with my two year old son, and my wife not there, this could be have been a very challenging night out. Judy made sure to check on us as much as she could, and was so friendly. Even helped recommend things for him to eat given his very fickle appetite. She was awesome. She’s the epitome of great service.

I brought my kids to this Friendly’s recently because we really do love the ice cream. The server at the window could not possibly have been any moreless friendly… Basically she just stared at me as I waited at the window, no hello, no «can I help you?», nothing, even after I pleasantly greeted her. So terribly sorry to have bothered you miss, how dare we come to the window and place an order, who do we think we are, my deepest apologies!!! As I stated my order, politely, she didn’t even look at me, just plugged it into some computer screen… no smile, nothing. Took an extra long time to make the ice creams, I think she wanted us to freeze to death while waiting… after my daughter said thank you when she was handed her ice cream, she just gave her this deadpan look, no «you’re welcome.» Anyway, needless to say, her tip jar was not made any fuller by me… and that is really too bad because I am the world’s best tipper, just not for BITCHES! Her behaviour towards us was completely inexcusable! Sorry! «Friendly»? … yah right!

This will be my last trip to Friendlies for ice cram. The waitress counted out my change and touched the counters with her latex gloves before serving my ice cream. Did she think the gloves were to protect her from the ice cream? Then she handed me a tiny scoop in a giant non-recyclable styrofoam container. No more!

Worst service we’ve ever seen. Dirty floors, dirty tables… waited 10 minutes before any staff said hello. Watched many people walk out wish we could’ve too.

what a disappointment! the waitstaff were nice but they are clueless about promptness. waiter said they only had one cook working… perhaps he should have told us it would be a longer wait than usual? they had the overhead music blaring and there is no privacy with their booths. Food was okay once we finally got it. No wonder why half the locations have closed down if they are run as bad as this location!

Walk in 12:15 not many people should of been a red flag. Server says how many I say just me. We walk by several CLEAN tables and she brings me to the back table. It’s a 6 top! I sit I notice my menu is sticky. No biggie it happens. Then I see ashes all over table ketsup and brown sticky stuff. First it’s a non smoking place y the ashes? Second the more I look around I notice dust, grime and nastiness. I get up and the server say where u going I say it’s gross and nasty in the dining room hate to see kitchen. She says your crazy this is a clean restaurant. Yeah ok I wish I brought my phone on to take a picture of the nastiness!

My husband and I stopped in here on a Saturday morning for some breakfast. It was pretty much dead, maybe 3 tables of 4 or less people. Food took way longer then it should have. Over 40 mins.(by the time we got it it was lunch time). My husband liked his but was annoyed with the wait and our waitress. I got an egg sausage on sourdough breakfast sandwich which had 1 sausage link(very skinny kind) sliced in half on a mountain of eggs. Not worth the money or the time wasted.

The bacon burger was excellent served with a side of golden delicious onion rings. The cookies and cream ice cream sundae with walnuts as well as strawberry sauce was good. It was hard to overlook the lethargic service of the hostess as the restaurant was a ghost town. After I was seated, the lethargic service of the server was unacceptable. It took about ten minutes for her to come over to the table. In a friendly manner, she took my order. After the main course, I had to remind her a sundae came with the meal. Then she takes the card and comes back with a swiped amount higher than the bill which was eventually corrected.

We walk in on a Sunday and it’s pretty much dead. We stand around for about 5 minutes when a waitress tells us that she’ll get to us shortly. 5 minutes later she tells us to sit at this booth and she’ll get to us soon. The booth is filthy. We knew if we stayed this is how the rest of the service was going to be. We decided to leave. As we left the waitress walked right by us and seated the next person right away without saying anything to us. We’ll never be coming back here again.

I have debated on leaving this review for a month now… I just have to… On 11÷3÷13 my boyfriend and I wanted to grab a quick dinner before we had to bring his 11 yr. old daughter back to Salem, MA to his ex. So… being that I have always felt Friendly’s was supposed to be a fun place to go, I hadn’t in years… I was actually looking forward to it. Boy was I wrong!!! We got there at 4pm… I was not very busy. so please keep that in mind while you read our horrible experience… took 5 mins for someone to seat us(to a dirty table –that they wiped down after we sat down) en after we sat down, while we were waiting for a waitress to come over, we decided to look at the menus(which we extremely sticky and dirty)…after 15 minutes of just sitting at our table, I walked to the front and asked if we could have some service — we had been waiting 15 mins — I was told yes, right away — another 5 minutes. The waitress finally arrived — asked if we were ready to order, I said yes, since we had been waiting 20 minutes — we did know what we wanted, also… we need to be on the road at 5pm. Our waitress did apologize and told us our drinks and any dessert we might want would be free(okay — not bad) She took our order and 10 minutes later our sodas arrived(not good) — then she brought over utensils… okay. here is another bad moment… the utensils were all wet — the waitress told us there were no more napkins in the back — so the utensils were all wet — but not to worry, these were not dirty… just wet — and lays them on the(dirty) tabletop. You have got to be kidding?!! So we then proceed to pull the cheap napkins from the table to wipe our utensils dry… I wanted to leave, but our 11 year old was hungry — and I didn’t think it would be fair to her. Our food finally arrives(we have about 10 minutes to shove this down and get on the road) — the food was gross…$ 9.00 for a cheeseburger that was cold… the burger itself was small and the bun was the main part of the meal… we ordered two of these. so there is $ 18 wasted. Our munchkin… she ordered the kids mac and cheese — $ 5.79…honestly beside her mac and cheese being cold… I swear this was Kraft mac and cheese — which is what…$ 1.50 per box!!! Furious!!! My boyfriend yells for our waitress and tells her — if we get free dessert — we need it to go because we have to leave. he and I get Fribbles(surprisingly — these were not screwed up) and our young one orders a small sundae — which they got wrong… but she worked around it. OH! And I cannot forget — not only were we sat next to the bathroom… the bathroom was absolutely disgusting! I have traveled to Mainland China. and at times had to use a facility that was basically a hole in the ground… those were cleaner than this bathroom… Our bill was $ 24.13 — I tipped $ 2.00 I am embarrassed that this is what Friendly’s has become. I am 43 years old… and I had fond memories of Friendly’s as a child… I will NEVER go back again…

The service here blows. Came in for breakfast one Sunday morning with my wife. We both placed our orders, and when they came out my wife’s order was completely wrong. The waitress apologized and took it back. Since my food was getting cold, my wife told me to eat. It took and about 20 – 25 mins until my wife’s food finally came out.(Even though it was a little busy, usually a messed up order goes to the front of the line. Or so i thought) By that time I was pretty much done with my plate, and now had to watch my wife eat. Honestly, the food is actually pretty good. Which is why I’m giving 2 stars instead of one. But I’ll be staying away from this particular friendlys

I usually love friendly’s. It’s not a place you have to dress up for. Its pretty cheap and the foods good. And who can resist delicious ice cream!!! My only complaint has been about the Hanover location. It was a busy day but the service was Nothing special. not bad enough to make me leave terrible feed back. They could have just been a little more prepared. (after saying this, they close half of their locations) Good luck friendly’s!

went here for lunch on way to cape cod. we wanted to order fish sandwich and they tell us it sold out. that is pretty fast when it mid afternoon around 12pm lunch time. we order the kids grills cheese with side of veggie. from the kids menu. you know how some places when you order from kids menu and u get free ice cream from picking three. drink, food, ice cream some places will give u free ice cream coupon because you didn’t have the ice cream on spot it was in your order and it was it the menu. the waiter came once or twice to see if we need anything. not really water refill. my husband order u pick two salad and sandwich and i order chicken sandwich. they seem to over cook the chicken it was not moist it was little dry.

Ok… so its Friendly’s so you know pretty much what you get when you come in — expectations are generally pretty low but the food is decent. Came here for lunch and my low expectations were not disappointed. The food was ok — the service was AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL(yes, that’s 3 and all caps.) We came for lunch and while it was bustling — it was not full and not crazy. We stood waiting to be seated for 5 minutes before we were even acknowledged(though we were ignored by about 5 different servers who walked by us). When we were finally sat, it took the waitress 10 minutes(TEN!) to come over and acknowledge we were there! When our food DID arrive, one of our meals was wrong, it took her 15 minutes to clear our plates and take our ice cream order(even after the torturous service — we had to have ice cream!). Meanwhile… the table next to us had an employee(on break I guess) having lunch with his family and every server in the place stopped by to say hello and talk for 5 minutes — ignoring other obviously frustrated patrons. My expectations were low — but the servers here are awful and should perhaps find another line of work…

As you may know from past reviews of mine I’ve reviewed a number of Friendly’s Restaurants. I also used to work at one as a teenager and managed to survive for about 2 years until the store I was at was closed! Another staff and I took two of our special needs students out for lunch and of course they love Friendly’s! Even though I’ve been living in the area for awhile, I’d never eaten at this particular Friendly’s. The inside was quite nice and it wasn’t overly busy. We were sat, the four of us, fairly quick. Our waitress, Michelle, came right over and took our drink orders. More customers started to filter in, so it took her a few minutes to come back and actually take our food order. As you know, Friendly’s has a reputation for being slow but it wasn’t as bad as I’ve experienced in other restaurant locations. The food came out well and was made to order. Michelle was friendly and silly. She remembered the side sauces we all wanted and had brought them out ahead of time. She came back twice to make sure all was well at the table. She wasn’t hovering but she was attentive. The icecream orders threw her off a little bit and we ended up with an extra sundae! One of our students cannot have icecream, so she was nice enough to bring out a special oreo brownie for him that he had requested. The sundaes were good but missing cherries and the candy toppings were brought seperately? It was a little strange. Not sure if they pre-measure toppings now or something along those lines. Overall it was a fairly good experience. We were there shortly before the lunch rush and Michelle was kind and took care of us, if at times a bit slow, we got everything we had ordered.
