Polish Market is an extreme latecomer to the once thriving Polish Bakery and deli offerings of the east side. I’ve never bought any of their meats because that would not be doing justice to any of the long established markets that do it well and have done it well for many years. They do offer a lot of choices. The big plus is that they are truly a full service polish grocer-easily three times the size of the next largest grocer. They offer a huge variety of name brand imported goods you just can’t anywhere and that is what truly establishes them here in the Detroit area. Jams, jellies, imported pickels and the like from vendors like Cracovia among others. Huge selection of canned and jarred fish. Big selection of pierogis shipped in from Chicago by way of Alexandrias. They’re good though I can get Alexandrias almost anywhere. They offer fresh baked goods like Polish rye bread and Kulkelka as well as cakes and other confections. Their two locations in Hamtramck and Troy are very, very clean and the staff is usually pretty helpful.

Everything looked delicious, and the best selection of pre-made pierogis I’ve found.

Top shelf, it’s all good, hit the smoked sausage, cheese, sliced anything. Great food and bread. Ethics chow, its a great day when I eat dinner for this place.

I really really wish they had fresh produce but everything else is authentic and delicious. Delicious condensed soups, fresh pickles galore, in fact, they have pickled everything. The baked goods section smells better than any bakery. It’s quiet and clean and the building is old, but they do their best. And their prices are reasonable for imported foods. You won’t be disappointed, try them today and see what goodies await you!

This store has an amazing selection of imported Polish foods and freshly prepared foods, and I was very pleased by the prices. The deli meats selection is very impressive, great quality, and equally well priced. I will certainly continuing coming here regularly for the majority of my grocery shopping.

Pickles, pickles, and more pickles. And every other product from Poland! Totally reasonable prices and one serious looking deli meat counter. If I lived here, I’d do a lot of my shopping right here!

Oh yeah, this is the real deal. I brought all kinds of stuff from Poland when I could have just gotten it here! All kinds of preserves, soups, noodles, even the Polish mushrooms. Although I think they only have the stringed version of the mushrooms around the the holidays. Good meat and deli selections. If you’re Polish and in the area do not miss this place!

Always the best. Fresh meats and pre made sides. I do a lot of grocery shopping here. Love the foods that remind me of my childhood and they make recreating traditional recipes easier. Like that my family can try new things as well as our old favorites.

It’s spacious. It’s clean. It’s all in Polish. Very much reminds me of Bobak’s in Chicago. The people here are friendly and they all speak English so don’t fret over a language barrier. Parking on Jos Campau is at a premium so your best bet is to park in the municipal lot for free between Polonia and Polish Village(Yemans or Evaline) or park on the street and feed the meter that may or may not work. You may or may not be ticketed by the roving parking authority. While I still prefer the smoked kielbasa at Srodeks, PM offers about 10 different varieties including fresh. They almost all taste similar but the garlic sausage is their standout. Their Polish/Ukrainian/Hungarian deli meats are very good too. Beyond the meats, they carry a wide variety of jarred mushrooms, frozen pierogi and kopytka and soups. I like this place. Word to the wise – Saturdays are very busy. Plan your trip accordingly.

Clean organized store. Pleasure to shop there. I hope someone in the area will know how to make paczki like they do I. Poland. Paczki sold in Hamtramck are big, heavy not good taste filled with slimy jello. But it’s not fault of this market. Ladies at deli are nice and smile which you can’t experience at other store, like bozek. I still miss one store which burned long time ago…

This is the best polish store in Michigan. Wonderful selection of cold cuts and other polish delicacies. They have fresh breads daily and delicious cakes. I strongly recommend this store to anyone who likes and appreciates polish products. The stuff is super friendly and the manager is knowledgeable and so helpful. Great store!

This place is pretty ok for Hamtramck. Decent meat section and the collection of European goodies is nice, but everything else is pretty unremarkable. Not the greatest produce selection and a lot of the pre-packaged Polish food doesn’t seem all that appealing. Fine if you want some sausage or eastern European-style baked goods, but you can do better elsewhere for most other things.

Clean and Authentic with many Polish national guests. Although the food is ho-hum, the real secret here is the bakery. Any of the pastries that contain fruit or cream are simply delicious. I was hoping to see a hot food bar or perhaps an on premises eatery option. No dice. Clearly a local gem in Hamtrack and worth checking out.

Immaculately clean with a full assortment of ethnic Polish food. You will be hard pressed to fine finer market of any kind. The fresh, homemade sauerkraut and pickles are great. Herring of all kind especially my favorite, creamed. A jewel of Detroit.

Not bad, but there’s a better grocery store about a half mile away. Keep an eye out for the expiration dates on the dairy products. I’m usually pretty good at checking the expiration date, but one time I bought a gallon of milk there and noticed it was three weeks past the expiration date. I’ve found a few other items that were also past the ex. date. Another beef I have with this store is that they will close up their veg/fruit section 15 – 20 minutes before the store closes. I guess you can move the the plastic sheeting, but I find it annoying that they want to make it a little more difficult for their shoppers so it’s less difficult for them later so they can get out of there and go home.

The best kielbasa of all the Polish groceries in the area. Hands down. The twice smoked kielbasa is so delightfully garlicy. Oh dear. I love it! The hardest part is driving with my car smelling of the stuff and having to wait until I get home to dig in. Maybe I should just start carrying a knife with me when I go there? Or just eat it by the hunk on the way home. What a sight I would be to other drivers on the road! Their other meats are also great. Love the smoked Canadian bacon(poledwica) and veal weiners(parowki) and get them every time we go. They have a vast selection of lunch meats and uncooked meats to choose from as well. Oh and cheeses! Lots of cheeses for the slicing! The baked goods are also top notch. Love the sweet rolls and we always leave with a few loaves of bread(rye and otherwise). But when it comes to the bakery section my favorite is the cheese coffee cake. OMG it tastes like cheesecake wrapped in sweet bread. I start drooling like Homer Simpson when I see that stuff. Also, what about all those awesome other cakes and pastries? Cheesecakes, tortes, apple cake, oh man. Amazing. Tons of dry goods and veggies for SO cheap. Forget buying fresh nutmeg or cinnamon at Kroger. Come to Polish Market and get a huge bag for just a few bucks. Rows of tea, juice, canned picked veggies, grains, pastas, cookies, biscuits, and delicious Polish candies. I can’t handle it. I’d leave with a massive bag of Prince Polo chocolate wafers if I could. Luckily I reign it in. In the refrigerated/freezer section you can get frozen pierogies of all flavors – from cheese, potato, or sauerkraut to meat, plum and blueberry(my favorite! Served with a bit of sour cream and sugar. Heaven!). Also soft cheeses, butters, and other dairy products. You can pretty much do all your grocery shopping here, even if you weren’t coming for specialty Polish goods. Looking forward to the big haul we get there for Easter next month. And bringing home a delicious little butter lamb!

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Polish Market. The staff has always been friendly, helpful and patient when helping me find a particular item(Although I am part Polish and grew up in a household where it was spoken occasionally, I only know small phrases — and reading it? Forget about it!) They have a great variety of kielbasa, sausages and meats, as well as some of the best pierogi I have ever eaten! During my mothers first visit there, she purchased some of the pierogi and favorably compared it to my Great Grandmothers cooking that she remembered when she was younger! It’s nice to see a market that caters so heavily to the Polish community with such quality and pride!

In any of the surrounding cities, the Polish Market by far has the best deals of any grocer. They serve the Polish community, and as such, their products are almost all in Polish, save for those products that have English stickers that have been put on by the Market staff. For this reason, it may be tough to find what you’re looking for if you don’t speak Polish or don’t know what it looks like. A little critical thinking, and you’ll figure it out. I’d recommend anyone looking for Polish sausage, baked goods, or any spices to come here before anywhere else. Forget about Kroger value packs of spices! You can buy a bag of fresh ground pepper for $ 1 here that ends up being as much pepper as 5 or 6 of the Kroger packs. Lots of their spices come in this way — just a big bag — and as a cook, it’s totally awesome to find healthy portions of ingredients and unbeatable prices. They have an entire counter dedicated to sausage, and… say, 30? 40? different kinds! Their bakery is equally as good — half the stuff I don’t even know what it is, but of all the pastries and breads I’ve tried, I’ve loved each and every one. Add a little adventure to your confections! Dea’s right, to a certain degree. They primarily speak Polish — so when I was there last, the cashier used the Polish word for«next» before she actually said NEXT, because I was daydreaming and didn’t know it was my turn. However, I have yet to encounter outright rude employees here considering that sort of language barrier, so I can’t say much else. I find myself typing this phrase more and more, but if you’re looking for a frugal alternative to Whole Foods, come to the Polish Market and save a buck, or ten!

A small Polish grocer located on Joe Campau street in the heart of Hamtramck. It’s one of the original Polish delis in a neighborhood that is definitely changing. The deli serves MANY varieties of kabanosy and kielbasa as well as various kinds of lunch meat hams. — 1 star because the teens working the deli counter are a little rude if you don’t speak Polish to them and they didn’t have enough fresh house made pierogi out.
