We live in the area and we absolutely love Rumba! Their menu is fun and they really make you feel like you are on vacation. For apps I would recommend the duck empanadas

Great food, great staff, great ambiance. We had a wonderful day today. Everything from the duck empanadas and Dominican ribs to the fish tacos and tres leeches cake, was amazing. And the view can’t be beat. Thank you!

Rumba is an interesting fusion of beach bar meets gourmet Caribbean food. The perfect spot for a casual but slightly more pricey date night or to have a drink and watch sunset. We started our meal off with the mussels in the curry sauce. These mussels were AMAZING. The sauce had a subtle coconut flavor with a hint of parsley– nothing too overwhelming for the gentle mussel flavor but something more exciting than the classic white wine sauce. Make sure to order the bread in the side if you don’t like soggy bread($ 16). Then we enjoyed the ahi tuna salad. Again there was a nice balance of flavor. The salad was served with nice large chunks of avocado and mango. However, the onions were cut too thick and for the price, there was not a lot of salad. A prefect light dish but a definitely pricey for portion size.($ 19) Finally I had the duck empanadas. By word of mouth these were supposed to be one of the best dishes. However, a couple of mine were cold on the inside and I thought this was the most disappointing dish.($ 2) To drink definitely try the passion fruit Mojito or the prickly pear margarita. You could taste the fresh passion fruit in the Mojito and the prickly pear margarita was delicious– not to sweet and a lot of flavor for prickly pear.($ 12 each) Our servers were very kind but the place is popular so super busy and the service has tendency to be slow(think island time). Waited for our reserved table for a bit and we had quite a few mixed up orders. Tacos were $ 4 – 6 and large entrée plates averaged $ 20. Overall I would recommend the restaurant!

All these 5 star reviews and seeing the 2nd location being built in Patchogue, I had to see what all the hub bub was about and stop in for a drink. And what a drink, mamma mia! Strong and fun being served in a mason jar, it’s Rumba time! Driving thru Hampton Bays, it’s like hometown America. This is the Hamptons that everyone zooms thru to other destinations. It makes me feel good to have a fun restaurant serving good food in Hampton Bays. Pulling into the parking lot, there’s valet parking. I’m not a fan of valet parking, I saw Ferris Bueller’s Day Off! But this being one of «The Hamptons», I’m sure these guys have parked some crazier cars than my Dodge.(Keep your Porsches, I have a Shaker Challenger and its just sexy) Walking in, if you want to participate in Happy Hour, you can take a seat at the surfboard or at the bar. You’re not getting Happy Hour in the dining area. I like to be happy, lets get the happy hour underway! We order out strong drinks as well as Duck empanadas, Jamaican wings and Fish Tacos. The wings, my wife said were a little too spicy for her but I thought they packed a flavor punch! Spicy, sticky and yummy, these ribs were packing some great flavors. The Duck empanadas also tasted great, the empanadas were very flaky and the fish tacos, I was hoping for fresh fluke, I had fried fish in my taco. Just sitting and seeing the water makes this place a Long Island treasure. And they have a water taxi to another location? what the what?! Rumba, you had me at hello. Great drinks, fun carribean foods and on the water makes this a 5 star Unilocal destination.

I’ve been to Rumba a bunch, but recently came here with the boyfriend for a late lunch/early dinner on MDW. The place was packed out, but the hostess managed to sit us right away on the outside deck. The waterfront views here, just like their sister restaurant, Cowfish, are on point. There’s a dock(where the RumBarge is located) with plenty of seating so that you can enjoy a drink or two before/after dinner. There is also high top seating on the outside deck that overlooks the water. If you’re stuck eating inside, there are plenty of opportunities throughout your night to go outside and enjoy the beautiful views– especially if you decide to take a ride over to Cowfish on the RumBarge(highly recommended). Drinks and food are the bomb. The Rum punch is always a great choice. It’s served in a mason jar and the smallest size is actually pretty large(and strong!). My two absolute favorite menu items are: the Dominican ribs and the Sriracha wings. The ribs are so flavorful and the meat falls right off the bone. The wings are just delicious, end of story. We also ordered the sunset crab cake salad which was so refreshing and delicious(mind you, I’m not a huge crab cake fan) and we split three tacos– the buffalo soldier, shrimp taco, and the smothered pulled rib taco. All great, but my favorite was the shrimp(which is a new menu item). Service here is always a pleasure. The food comes out quickly and every server/hostess/bartender is super friendly and willing to help you/each other out. Quick tip: Parking is limited. You can valet your car in the main parking lot, or there is a «Rum Bus» that will pick you up from the Mariner Cove Marina when the main lot is full. Moral of the story: Rumba is the bees knees. If you are given the opportunity to grab a bite here, you’d be crazy to pass it up. The atmosphere is fun, the vibe is laid back, and it’s overall just a genuinely great experience. This might just be my favorite summer spot on all of Long Island and I would drive many miles just for a rack of their Dominican ribs.

Great food and vibe. I had the crab cakes with the coconut risotto. The crab cakes were delicious, the risotto was not as flavorful though. Rum punch was awesome! Highly recommend. Very laid back and friendly atmosphere. We went on a Friday afternoon and were seated immediately… very friendly staff.

Not to mention the drinks was DELICIOUS!!! The coconut drinks were the perfect amount of sweet for me and really hit the spot. The views are fantastic and so is the atmosphere and service. I really loved this place. It was the best spot I could pick for lunch for my girls and I!

Hands down one of the best restaurants on the island. I’ve heard about this place many of times but never wanted to take the ride east to try it out. I’m so glad I finally took the ride out to see what all the talk was about. Everything I had from the mango mojito to the duck empanadas to the rib eye was delicious. I even ordered the Jamaican wings which were bomb! The ice cream sundae was killer and I mean KILLLER! I can’t wait to go back and try the Dominican ribs. But not only is the food good but the location is perfect. It sits right on the bay so in the summer I know this is the place to be and enjoy. I’ll be back VERYSOON!

This place is absolutely great. Even open on Mondays in the dead of winter. We have dined here twice in the offseason and the food was amazing both times. The second time we went we ordered two of every taco. There were 5 of us, while we did order appetizers we ended up with left overs. Still great tacos for lunch the next day. The staff here is super friendly. Exceptional really both times. Highly recommend this place. A real gem!

When your dine at Rhumba you feel like your on an island with white sands. The service is immaculate and excellent food. Try the Rum punch and you will definitely go back for round 2. The wings are to die for and the tacos are yummiest. Best time is in the summer the reggae music sets the mood. Make time to stay and enjoy the scenario of the outdoors with spectacular water views. 2 Thumbs up!!! Keep coming back for more.

I just wanted to put a small update in for Rumba. Having now been here during both the busy season and the dead of winter. This place is on point with every visit. The food has always been cooked to perfection on all our visits. The drinks are some of the best I’ve had in the area. And service is great. I highly recommend checking this place out to anyone that has never been. Try the ribs, you will say they are some of the best you’ve ever had. Also worth mentioning, the Mahi dish they make is one of the best I’ve ever. We will continue to make the trek but we’re anxiously awaiting the opening for their next location(Patchogue).

Another great meal had in Hampton Bays. I literally wanted to order everything on the menu, it all sounded so good! In the end I chose the Chili rubbed pork tenderloin with coconut risotto and plantains. It was so tasty, I didn’t want to finish. It was a great combination of flavors. My husband had the Caribbean noodle & steak salad, it was huge. He really enjoyed it. The restaurant has a complimentary shuttle bus and boat from a nearby car park so you don’t have to worry about parking, or driving if staying nearby.

RUUUUUUMMMMMBAAAAAAAA! Staying in the gorgeous hamptons and was told to come to this place, glad we did. It was a fun little experience taking the tiki boat from cowfish’s dock to the rumba dock and back. Parking is crazy over there so it’s better to probably get dropped or take the little tiki taxi. About a 20 min wait which was fine bc I wanted a mojito. Mango, passion fruit mojito made me feel like I was on vacation. Actually, being at this restaurant made me feel a little bit like I was away. The Caribbean food smells(I was def smelling those ribs) filled the air and everyone seemed really chill, it was nice. We all had the Caesar salads which were delicious(how can you go wrong? Slightly overboard with the dressing but it was ok). I had the seared ahi tuna, friends had the island rib eye with sweet potato mash and the Dominican ribs with fries… All perfectly seasoned, ribs were falling off of the bone and the ribeye was cooked perfection… My friend actually said«it was the best piece of meat she’s put in her mouth» HAHHAHADOUBTTHAT. Anyway it was delicious, I would come back here when in the area and would recommend it. They have a good crowd here and drinks on the deck can turn into an all night affair I’m sure.

Stopped by for lunch today and was happy to be seated outside with a nice view of the water. Rumba is a casual, but pretty little restaurant. Our server forgot our Dominican Ribs appetizer and brought our entrees out straight away. I was a little saddened by this, as I’d been looking forward to tying he ribs. My jerk chicken platter had great flavor with the perfect amount of heat, balanced by the sweetness of fresh mango and papaya salsa. I was a big fan of the creamy coconut risotto it was served over. We didn’t get to see a desert menu, and I was surprised by this as well. The place wasn’t very busy so it wasn’t like someone was waiting for our table. Anyhow, I would give Rumba another try if we were in the area – for the food and view, not the service.

I’m REALLY glad we came here for lunch. The service was excellent and the food and drinks were perfect. The view doesn’t hurt either. Based on previous reviews we had the duck empanadas which were delicious. They came with a sauce that had wasabi in it that my wife liked, but I was impartial to. I thought they were good enough without it. I had the Caribbean run punch while my wife had the margarita. We were extremely happy with our drinks. For lunch we just had all of their different tacos and they were all great. They had Sriracha hot sauce on the side which helped. The server was right with us more then we ever needed. All in all this place is perfect.
