I’ve always come to Mariners to eat. The food is great! However, my four friends and I came today and the staff was horrible. We sat at the only large outdoor table that they had(in order to fit all of us). You could tell immediately that the waitress(red hair) was upset about it and said«did y’all just sit at this dirty table and push the stuff to the side?» After she cleared the table she never came to wipe it off she went inside to tend to other tables. I had to go ask for it to be wiped clean and she stated«oh which table are you at that dirty one that had to be cleared off?» It took about thirty minutes just to get our drink orders and when our drinks were brought out two of them were wrong. We ordered two appetizers which took way longer than they should’ve. When our appetizers arrived one of the two was wrong. After they brought the appetizer we finally got the two drinks that were wrong. We had five people and they brought two appetizer plates. The waitress said she’d bring more and never did. At last we got our food and are still sitting here(still waiting on the boxes we asked for twenty minutes ago). From everyone else around us getting their food I’m almost positive our food was purposely taking a long time to come out. I’m so disappointed and will most likely never be back. When we got here they weren’t even slammed or anything for there to be an excuse for the terrible service and attitudes that we got today. Disappointment and waste of money isn’t even the word to describe it.

4.6 so I’m rounding up to 5 stars. The food is exceptional. Huge portions. Started with jalapeño crab stuffed peppers. Big, succulent peppers and a lot of REAL crab stuffing. Shrimp PoBoy. Huge serving filled with delicately fried shrimp. One of the chicken sandwiches, I think it had ham and Swiss cheese. The breads are freshly made on site, so that’s a huge plus. Had the PoBoy on the French bread. The chicken on Texas toast. Perfect decision. So, why not a solid 5? There was a bit of confusion as to who was our server, so we didn’t order when ready. Otherwise, when we got a server, he was attentive and great. Oh, and there was a mix up on one of the side dishes. But all in all, a solid choice for dining in Hammond.

Our first time here, but not our last. Fast friendly service, large portions, and really good seafood. Next time want to try the hamburger that they claim is so good-because I love a good burger!

Very good place to eat. If you have a dog with you, it’s ok to eat here. They bring out a water bowl for your dog. The prices are reasonable, service fast, comfortable atmosphere. They are open late so you can order food until midnight.

Mariners has been my go to for many, many years in Hammond. It’s good on your own, but it’s even better with the company of friends. It does seem more sanitized than it used to be in some way. Maybe it’s perception, or a simple change of the times. The food is always about the same. Good. It’s not Antoine’s, but it’s good pub food. The last time I went I had the Monday special, red beans and rice, and it was particularly tasty. I did notice that service seems to be a little bit nicer than it was around 95 or so. People actually smile now. That’s good!

I had the Drum covered in Shrimp and mushrooms. Fish was a little over cooked but otherwise was delicious. Staff was friendly and service was great. They have local beer on tap. I recommend this place.

Went for lunch and had the filet mignon and loaded baked potato. Delicious! The décor is a mix of various nautical ‘artifacts.’ Nice staff. Would definitely go again and try something different.

Today I had the the daily special… Salad followed by London Broil with veggies. From the time I walked in, to the time I finished my last bite was 25 minutes. Very reasonably priced and generous portion size. Andrea and the team did an excellent job on the service side of it. Would highly recommend.

Good Food! Drinks by the pitcher! Friday night Jazz band on the patio! Seems like a great time. Until 2 guest show up with their dogs I understand people love their animals like family but I don’t want your dog sniffing my feet during my meal. I asked the waitress were animals allowed at the restaurant? She says yes they are allowed on the patio because ppl expect animals on the patio. WHATPEOPLE??? People expect mosquitos and flying bugs of course but dog??? Not dogs… Especially not Big Marmaduke dogs. Ive always overlooked their crappy waitresses because of all the other great benefits. Lets just say… She didn’t get a tip from me and I will tell everyone who wants to hear not to go there. Dogs at a restaurant… THENERVEOFTHEM.

We had lunch, fake bacon on the salad and the potato yuck! Fried oysters were milky and had liquid green coming out of them, I don’t think that’s a good sign. I won’t go back. Husband’s steak was over cooked

Oh my goodness gracious! Mariner’s Inn is my kind of place. I recently found myself in Ponchatoula with some time to kill while my oldest rehearsed for the choir. Having absolutely no clue where to go, I consulted with my go to expert on all things Tangi. My buddy Topher grew up nearby in one of the funniest named towns: Pumkin Center, LA. Seriously y’all, that’s the name of the town. Anyway, he recommended Mariner’s so that’s where I headed. When I got to downtown Hammond I was surprised how crowded it was, especially for a Thursday night. I had to circle the block a few times before finally finding a parking sport right out front. I had to parallel park, but remembered smooth fluid movements and next thing you know, I was parked. Mariner’s had a nautical theme which made sense. There were maps, ships wheels, glass fishing floats and other nautical themed items on display. I guess that type of décor is not for everyone, but for me, it brought back great memories of visiting my grandparents house. My grandfather was a mariner and his house was decorated the same way. Despite being very busy, I was able to score a table in the main dining area. Mariner’s definitely had a bar type feel, but there were kids in there so it was family friendly. Service was friendly and the menu was larger than most bar/restaurant combos I’ve visited, but something caught my eye. Jim and Dave’s kickin chicken was their signature item, and what my buddy recommended, so that’s what I ordered. Since it was named Kickin Chicken, I expected buffalo sauce or some spicy topping. In actuality it was a chicken tender sandwich with cheddar and ranch. I was slightly underwhelmed until I took that first bite. Whatever they did, they knew what they were doing. That was one damn good sandwich. The best part was the sandwich with fries was only $ 9. There was also a check in offer for buy one get one free draft beer so for under $ 20 with tip I had a couple of Gnarley Barley drafts and the sandwich and fries. I would have gladly paid $ 94 for this meal, but appreciated the great value. Since I am rarely in Hammond I don’t know how often I’ll get to visit Mariner’s, but if you find yourself in the area, I strongly recommend you pay them a visit.

Really wanted a great poboy and was so disappointed. Service was nice but food took 45 mins to get nothing special. Bread was not fresh and burgers which they are known for was dry. This was my second time there and there will not a third.

We’ve always received great service here! This is a good place to kick back and have some drinks. The drinks can be pretty cheap and especially a good deal if you order by the pitcher. I like that there’s no smoking inside since it’s also a restaurant. It can be noisy if you sit in the back by the pool table depending on what kind of crowd is there(and how late it is). If you don’t like it inside, there’s always the covered area outside. As another reviewer mentioned, it is basically Hammond’s «Port of Call» for all who have been to the one in NOLA. The burgers are decent. Make sure you specify exactly how you want it — especially if you are picky about how well(or not) you like your meat. The food can be a hit or miss depending on what you’re looking to eat. Example: The gumbo is very thick and tomato based, and I was disappointed as I was expecting a roux based one. It has grown on me over time though. I have better luck(in terms of taste/flavor) when I order things that are typical bar food: burgers and appetizers/snacks. The other items I’ve tried(blackened tuna, grilled chicken, etc) are average. I feel that some of the higher priced items aren’t worth it. I’d like to give it a 3.5, but it won’t let me give a «half.»

It’s a nice and relaxed environment with comfy outdoor seating. The food was good. There’s a bar for drinkers. Excellent service.

When I got to Marriners Inn I ordered a cheeseburger. I waited for about half an hour to 45 minutes(There were only one other party of people in the restaurant). Finally my cheeseburger came. It wasn’t bad but it definitely was not the best I’ve had. Two things I noticed was that the cheese was shredded, and instead of asking what you want on it they put everything on the side. The burger was pretty good, but not worth a 45 minute wait.

Has somewhat of a «dive bar» feel but it’s okay to bring your kids. Burgers are best in Hammond. Seafood is on their best selections. Service can be a little slow and prices trend to up time to time.

Love love their soups, the chicken nachos and the shrimp poboy! Sitting inside and outside are both great options! Great live music and bar

Good relaxed atmosphere right in downtown Hammond. Good local food and plenty of menu options. Waitresses are nice, service tends to run a little long though. Kick’n Chicken sandwich is the way to go.

Good menu selection, but my wife has food allergies to MSG and they were not much help in helping to find something safe. Pretty much just stated everything is marinated in something. You really should know what you are serving your customers!!! She had a cheese sandwich and I had a burger. It was OK, but I have had better.

Just moved back to the area to live near family, and the huz and I set to work immediately to find«our joint.» Of the several restaurants we’ve sampled, Mariner’s won and continues to own that status hands down. Great food, good drinks, homey fun atmosphere, and open late to boot. They even know how to make a burger that’s nice and RARE. Not pre-cooked. Just wonderful. We’re sold! Any of the burgers, the mini meat-pie appetizers, the crab-bisque or gumbo… all just so good. White Russians, too! Go. Now. It’ll make you happy. :)
