Where to begin with sushi palace. This place is consistently good. You know exactly what you’re getting every time. Don’t let the C grade on the door deter you, it’s good quality sushi. All you can eat for 2 runs around 40 bucks so it’s great for a date if you both can really eat. It would have 5 stars if the service was better and the grade on the door was higher. I highly recommend the Godzilla roll though. Definitely the best bang for your buck when you’re in the mood for sushi

Very good sushi and price. Not far away from Yale and is very popular during the Friday night. Strong recommendation!

Not going back to either location until that health inspection grade changes to an A or at least B. This is raw fish were talking about

Pretty decent sushi for an all u can eat joint. The service is not great, it’s passable, but I’ll endure bad service in order to sample all this delightful sushi for a fair price. I ordered plate after plate of sashimi most of it good, a few had tough bits that would never have passed at another sushi joint, but again, most of it was good and the all u can eat allows more experimenting than I can normally afford. I enjoyed new combos my companions ordered fun fancy rolls. They screwed up a few times,(once substituting fake crab for some sashimi I ordered) but I pointed it out, and was told we didn’t have to eat it. Almost everything is yummy except for a lot of the fried apps are doughy and greasy. Stick with miso soup, seaweed salad and rolls

My husband and I used to come here all the time but recently it has gone down hill, The wait staff stands around when they should be tending to the customers. It doesn’t really matter if the are busy or not; same service either way. The hot food comes out cold and the fish is mediocre at best. They’ve gotten way to big for their britches, Try Tokyo 2 in North Haven for superior food and service.

Absolutely the best All You Can Eat Sushi Place in Connecticut right now. The menu is full of quality choices along with daily specials written on a white board in the dining room, so experimentation is key. The waitstaff are friendly and attentive and, best of all, don’t seem to judge or look to limit the definition of «All You Can Eat.» Everything ordered was delivered timely and cooked deliciously. The only negative: the place is small and parking is horrible. On a busy dinner night, if you don’t arrive early, you probably can expect a lengthy wait. As for parking, they do offer some spaces on the side of their establishment, though they are angled in such a way that the only option when it comes time to leave is to back out in reverse the entire way until you get to the street. Not the safest way to park or drive. Even with those minor hiccups, if you plan the night right, show up a little early, and get a good parking spot, you are in for an awesome night of sushi, Japanese kitchen staples, and desert!

Do it! Sushi palace is so cheap for decent sushi and all you can eat win win. This place is always busy because local sushi is over priced for basic quality sushi, if you don’t know sushi this is the place to try it.

I love this place. All you can eat, made to order. They have the standard rolls and some more interesting rolls. I love bringing people new to sushi here so that we can try lots of things and experiment because it’s such a great value. The hardest thing to do is to park in the lot, I strongly suggest parking on the street. If you park in their small lot, you have to back out onto Dixwell Ave.

If you are a sushi lover this is the place to be. But i wish they had a wider variety of non sushi dishes for my family and friends who don’t eat sushi or tempura.

Great sushi! I was skeptical when my boyfriend first took me here because the outside appearance isn’t amazing. But boy was I shocked by the quality of the food. If you go on a weekend, expect to wait — it’s well worth it though. Once you are seated, you are served within 15⁄20 minutes of placing your order. The staff is super attentive, and they don’t rush customers even when there’s a long wait. This place is small and has awful parking options. But be prepared to be amazed!

The ONLY sushi restaurant I will go to. It’s my little hole in the wall. Get the Crab salad and Godzilla Roll is a must. They are Amazing! My mouth is watering as we speak. The only problem is the parking but little does everyone know there is parking behind the restaurant, it’s between the restaurant and the house next door, it looks like a drive way. Hope that’s helpful.

This was pretty good for sushi in Connecticut. The food came pretty quickly and they actually brought everything out that we ordered. My only complaint is that the parking lot is absurdly small and very hard to get out of.

My review for this place can’t do this place justice. It really looks like a whole in the wall on Dixwell Ave in Hamden. I’ve been here a few times now and I have to say, it’s a different experience. The people who come here are loyal, local, and repeat customers. The food is very good and made to order. You will want to come back. My first time coming in though, it was a bit confusing how to order since I didn’t know what I was doing, but after I figured it out I was hooked.

This was so fabulous. We took a bus here, and would do it again in a heartbeat. Everything was incredible! Perhaps they have recently changed the staff from some of the former reviews(or just better staffing in the summer?) because our waiter was terrific! Food came to us unbelievably fast – sitting at the sushi bar, we could see how quickly they made the dishes – and the server was very prompt and polite about every request. We’re coming back. (Edit for context: we’ve been to 5 or so sushi buffets, so that’s what we’re comparing to)

A few days ago I had a craving for sushi and used Unilocal to find a restaurant with high ratings. Sushi Palace topped the list, so I decided to give it a go. Parking at Sushi Palace is unfortunately problematic. There is no lot parking available; street parking(with ‘1-hour limit’ signage) seemed to be the only available option. Because I went for an early dinner on a weekday, it was not much of an issue for me — I found sufficient street parking only one block away — however, I would be unsurprised if parking is especially troublesome during the dinner rush and/or weekends. When I entered Sushi Palace, I was seated promptly and was offered a menu. I ordered an assortment of their sashimi, which tasted fresh. The maki and nigiri were also good and made-to-order. The price-value was well balanced. Sushi Palace provided good customer service. Once or twice there were small issues with communication, but the staff worked to ensure their guests were having a positive experience. Recommendation: –Avoid peak dining times in order to avoid parking problems Verdict: I would recommend this place to others.

One of the best all-you-can-eat sushi places in New Haven! At least, better than the other ones I’ve been to in the area. The service was very quick and although the store itself is small, it felt cozy. The various rolls were pretty good– first time I had mango in sushi that actually tasted good. Some of the rolls were pretty distinct and didn’t just taste like a rehash of various combinations of salmon, rice, panko and sauces. They had a special the day we went of a sushi roll with lobster, but the lobster just looked like pink slime. Wouldn’t recommend, but everything else was great!

Good sushi at a great value! It’s all you can eat for $ 20! I had 6 mackerel, 6 eel, 4 tuna, 4 salmon, 4 yellowtail, 2 red snapper, 2 squid, and one spicy grilled salmon roll with mango! Didn’t care for the squid, a the tuna was a little bland… even for sashimi. I LOVED the eel, mackerel, and the spicy grilled salmon roll! I also ordered edamame which was mediocre(not very fresh). Sushi was really good and the service was great! I’ll be back pretty regularly… even though the parking situation is… odd.

First of all, I have to clarify their food is pretty good– fresh and authentic, some innovative dishes are delicious as well. 4 star for food itself. –2 star for their service, which brings the overall rating to a 1 star. There is a guy with glasses who is very rude. As we were chatting over our last few pieces of sashimi and sushi, he suddenly came over and took away all of our food, saying«you know what, time is money». And then he stormed out. He also rushed us to leave whenever he got a chance, and made a lot of noise when cleaning nearby tables, as if he was bothered because we spent time talking as we were eating. This is the most ridiculous dining experience I have ever had. I have been to Sushi Palace a couple times. I would say their food has been good and consistent in quality. However, the waiters and waitresses are mostly depressed-looking. I don’t know what is going on with the staff, but it is not a good idea to vent to customers. Will never go back to eat.

$ 20 for all you can eat, fresh, great quality sushi — you can’t beat it. You can place orders as many times as you’d like from the sushi bar or the kitchen, it’s all included in the price. A tip though: don’t over order. You shouldn’t leave much left over on the plates and you can’t take left overs home!
