Super Saver Laundromat

This place has fallen apart. 60% of the dryers are broken and don’t have signs on them. You have to keep taking clothes in and out to find one that works. Never coming back.

Decided to try this one out. They only have an 18lb, 35lb, & 55lb washers. 35lb is close to $ 7.00 & the 55lb $ 9.07. Drying is free. They have no cash on the premises and no change machines. You have to get a super saver card & put funds on it with cash or credit card or EBT. There is an ATM machine it charges $ 2.00. They have a bag machine, snack & drink machines, & arcade games… My experience — today is Saturday. I got here around 11:30 am. I rang the bell for the attendant 4 times. Finally the older lady that was on her cell phone behind the counter decides to get up. She had an attitude when responding to my question. I let it slide. I wash three loads and they all came out soaked. It spins but the water is not extracted enough. The time left is not displayed on any of the washers. I am upset to begin with since the biggest machine was a 55lb capacity. No big loaders here. Plus compared to neighboring laundromats their prices are higher. Sometimes I can overlook price and small things that happen that may be out of the owners control. However I dont excuse low quality customer service. Everyone has bad days, even customers. But u dont show it to customers. The only somewhat helpful person was a gentleman on the floor who would answer questions, provide direction, & just walk around to tend to things.

I’ve been to the Super Savers in the area and this one on a Saturday morning was the most comfortable. It wasn’t crowded by any means and with no kids screaming and running around unchecked you aren’t worried about bumping into others (in New Haven there was a shouting match between a customer and employee; in West Haven kids were running around sticking their heads into washers and zooming in the carts). The 35lb washers are $ 6 and the 50lb washers are $ 9. There is an 18lb washer but I haven’t used it so I don’t know how much it is. Drying, of course, is free and here (as opposed to the one in West Haven) you can use more than 1 dryer. Thank god because I still don’t understand the concept of drying an equivalent of 4 loads in 1 dryer…

Disgraceful, uncouth, and dishonest! All terms I would use to describe the owner/​manager and staff of this establishment. I have heard this woman (who may be the manager or owner?) curse out other customers before, but gave her the benefit of the doubt, rationalizing that these customers must have been difficult. HA! I WAS SO WRONG!
I usually came here because the prices were okay, and drying is free with one of their pre-​paid cards.
On this occasion, I was in a rush, so I quickly gathered all of my clothing from the dryers, and left. It wasn’t until I got home, that I noticed leaving some things behind. Yikes!
My first instinct was to call the laundromat to ask them to secure my things, and tell them I’d be coming back right away. But there was no answer at the mat. Poo!
Anyway, I hauled my tail back to the laundromat, only to find my clothes missing from the dryer. «No biggie», I thought, «I’ll just ask the attendant if he’s seen anything in the dryers.» The attendant was a totally useless! He gave me a blank stare before denying knowledge of the whereabouts of my clothes. No offer to help, or look in the back, or ask the manager… NOTHING!
Defeated, I was about to walk out, when it occurred to me that the owner may want to know that a costumer’s clothes went missing. WRONG AGAIN! I asked to speak to the owner. The woman who I recognized as the owner from my previous visits had left for the day, but he called her up.
I explained my situation to this woman, and that’s when things got weird. She began to yell at me, asking why I left my clothes in the dryer so long. Once more, I explained that I had been in a rush and overlooked the dryer. She became more irate, despite my explanation, then confessed to having my clothes locked in her office. HERE IS THE KICKER — SHE SAID SHE WOULD BE KEEPING MY CLOTHES TO TEACH ME A LESSON. What! In! The! World!
At first, I thought, «I’m being Punk’ed, right?!» So I laughed nervously, tried to remain calm, and asked her again for my things. It wasn’t until she yelled, «Bitch, what part of I’m keeping them don’t you understand?» and hung up the phone on me, that I realized that this woman is really psycho.
Sadly, I had to get the police involved to get her to return my clothes. Yeah, it went that far. My clothing was intact, but the ordeal was ridiculous. The officer was very sympathetic, stating that they get a lot of calls about her. Soooo… other people knew this woman was crazy and didn’t warn me… thanks guys!
Well, consider yourself warned! DON’T RISK THE WRATH OF THIS INSANE LAUNDROMAT OWNER!!!

I needed to do laundry and had a large comforter that needed washing. I’ve been here for the wash and fold services which are wonderful, and the prices aren’t that bad either. Today, I needed to get stuff done, and was pleasantly surprised that there were 3 sizes of washing machines! I didn’t have to wash everything separately, which saved me money, I used the middle size washer, 35 lb, for ~$ 6 a wash. The super sized washer I believe is around $ 8, which is still not bad considering the amount of laundry it can hold. They also sell powder and liquid detergents, as well as fabric softener. One of the things I really like about this place is the card. Yes, it costs initially $ 5 for the card, but the money is loaded on the card, and it is simple to add money to the card, without having to carry around a lot of quarters. The only downfall is the machine to load the card doesn’t take quarters, which would be beneficial if it did, but oh well.
The machine was clean, and there are an adequate number of machines of each size. The place was busy when I arrived, and stayed busy the entire time I was there. After my wash was done, my clothes came out clean, and I proceeded to use the FREE dryer! This free drying when you’ve done your wash there is extremely helpful, the dryers are large and have 4 heat settings. Bonus! Overall the place is pretty clean, and there are machines for snacks inside, as well as a chinese restaurant next door if you get hungry.
