In my opinion, the owner is shameless. Don’t believe me. Read the rest of the reviews that have not been written by his friends and family. I rest my case.

The owner of this store, Andreas, is EXTREMELYRUDE, arrogant, and everything in his store is extremely expensive and over priced. I like to support locals, but I will not be in his store ever again.

Andreas is the best guy ever. I’m not sure if he just works there or if he’s the owner, but he went above and beyond the call of customer service to help me surprise my boyfriend with a beautiful set of fancy-shmancy coasters on his birthday. My boyfriend and I go to HMB for day trips a few times a year, and our favorite stop is this gallery. We see it like a wood-craft-museum, and we are always in awe of so many pieces in there(that grandfather clock whose mechanics are even made of wood!). I had a trip planned on boyfriend’s birthday to visit HMB and gallery M. All week andreas emailed with me trying to help me find the perfect gift. I landed on a gorgeous set of coasters, and paid for them ahead of time. When boyfriend and I arrived, Andreas had the coasters wrapped and everything. I snuck up to the desk and whispered«I’m the lady from the coasters emails» and he slyly gave me the present. Boyfriend was over the moon and I couldn’t have done it without Gallery M and Andreas. They didn’t need to help me out at all and yet they went further than the extra mile. They are wonderful there, and their products are just exquisite. Thank you so much for helping my boyfriend have a great birthday :)

Excellent customer service from Peter I’ve never set foot in Gallery M but happily stumbled upon their website while searching for an anniversary present for my husband. I explained to Peter I was looking for a specific item in the $ 300 range. He gave me some ideas and then promised he would ask his boss, Andreas, to send photos of the items I was interested in by 3 pm the following day. True to his word, side-by-side images appeared in my inbox the following day — by 1 pm! The icing on he cake — Peter offered to hand deliver the item to my home in Redwood City since I needed it ASAP and couldn’t get out to HMB with my impatient 2 year old. I realize home delivery isn’t a service they normally offer but I was impressed with their willingness to accommodate me and offer creative solutions for a relatively smaller purchase. I look forward to visiting the gallery in person someday.

Beautiful pieces. Yes many are pricey but some very reasonable. Would have spent much more if I could. Check out the beautiful cutting boards and vases which are very affordable. The owner took his time to chat and tell us about some of the higher end pieces. In the middle of a remodel and plan to come back when it’s finished to add some pieces to my room.

BUYERBEWARE!!! RUDEOWNER and SEVERELYOVERPRICED. The owner of this store is a complete JERK. Had I fully read one of the reviews, my friend and I would have NEVER made the trip here! The owner comes off as prejudice against anyone who is young and not like, ‘Him.” Older white ladies were taking photos of a large piece of wood furniture and he didn’t say a word. My Japanese friend took photos and he belittled him in front of the other 4 customers in the store. I think we can all read between the lines there.(My friend and I were dressed in expensive clothes less anyone think we caused this type of concern because of our looks) Here is the thing about this guy and his store. There are some nice pieces of wood work here but nothing you won’t find at every other wood crafting store. There are wooden pencils, jewelry boxes, wind chimes and other trinkets. This guy will get pissed and tell you not to touch any of the merchandise… lol How do you know if you want an item like that without touching it? Fragile items I understand, but that only applies to about 10% of what is in this store. The items they don’t want you to touch have barely visible sticker signs on them. It was like we were on a hidden camera show with this clown. When this jerk eventually aimed his sights on me I put his ass in check. He said to stop touching an item that had no sign on it and I told him right back to relax and that there was no sign on the item. I told him not to worry though because we were going to leave the store with our wallets and that I would certainly warn the folks on Unilocal about him. I don’t believe in wishing someone ill will but I will say this. Want to hurt a prejudice, over priced business owner, walk out without buying anything(Which 99% of the people did) and then blog about it. Which I did! Dear owner, Here are a few lessons for you and trust me you need them; 1. Young does not mean unsuccessful and poor. Both my friend and I are in our mid thirties and both make over six figures. You lost a sale today on a $ 200 item because of your discriminating and detestable behavior. 2. There is no sign that says you cannot take photos. One might assume you would want your work to be floating around the social media world to gain exposure. The old lady that I assisted in taking a photo of a $ 4000 piece was sending it to her son who lives out of town to determine if she would buy it. You lost that sale too because of your behavior. She told us she would not buy it after how you treated us. I’m curious, do you think people are taking photos of your work because they want to steal your ideas??? If that is the case then you are also an out of touch ego maniac too. None of the items were so unique that they haven’t been seen in similar stores. I just so happen to know that because we were at two stores in San Francisco today and saw the exact same wooden boxes for about 30% lower than your boxes were priced. Same quality too. If you want to be proud of something, be proud of this. You out priced two stores in one of the most expensive cities(SF) in the nation. No easy task so Congrats! 3. When I told you I would blog on Unilocal about my experience. You balked at it but got nervous when I checked in on my phone. On Unilocal, one of first reviews you see is how rude you are. Sir, Unilocal is a powerful service that helps people decide where to shop, eat etc. Never underestimate the power of the pen, or in this case the keyboard. I don’t go into a restaurant or store without first checking Unilocal. Most people are the same way. Good luck winning people over with that award winning personality. You are going to need it. Btw, my friend is filing a complaint with the BBB and the Chamber of Commerce. When you are a mean and prejudice person, eventually you run into someone that will follow through making sure people know who you really are.

Everything in this gallery is beautiful. I would take it home, except I can’t afford any of it. As an artist I know what it takes to make and sell art… but I think this gallery’s prices are very much bloated. Thus in nearly several years of visiting here, I haven’t seen much inventory move. But always a treat to go inside and smell the wood!

The staff in this store are incredibly rude. I tried to take a picture of a piece I knew my friend would love and got chewed out by the clerk for trying to snap a pic. That’s alright, I can take my money somewhere else

The pieces in this store are absolutely amazing. The craftsmanship is really something else! You can definitely tell that a lot of time and effort goes into each creation. The prices might blow you away so don’t look at them if you’re just here to admire and not seriously looking to buy… there are smaller tchotchkes all the way up to full-size furniture items. Some are inlaid with mother of pearl or various metals. Everything is one of a kind.

No changes to my previous review… such a great Gallery, anyone visiting HMB should give it a go.

If you are looking for top quality wood furniture with unique design, this is the place. Their prices are high if you compare them to mass produced ones found at ordinary furniture stores, but if you compare them to to high quality ones which were handmade by skilled woodworkers, then they are reasonable. I bought a bed, a pair of nightstands and a custom made dresser from them a year ago and me and my wife are highly satisfied. These pieces will be passed down to my children as heirlooms for generations to come.

I did not purchase anything here but I think the pieces this shop carries are absolutely beautiful. Everything is made of wood and the craftsmanship is truly outstanding. I was ogling some furniture pieces that were just gorgeous, they were finished flawlessly. They also started at $ 2000. But I did eye some less expensive pieces such as keepsake boxes for under $ 100. I am sure you can get them engraved. If I need to buy unique, original wooden gifts, I will return here to select something. Everything is Made in USA by Californian artists. I don’t know if ALL the wood is sustainable, but you can probably pick and choose. .
