I walked into this place a few moments ago, looking to buy a slice of pizza. Boy was I asking for it. Upon walking in, the woman working there ignored the hell out of me. She looked over and quickly turned her head. Then, she started pacing back and forth, talking to two other ladies who were sitting at the counter. It was as if I was invisible. After about 4 minutes of standing there like an idiot, the woman finally walks over and asks me if I needed anything. I asked to buy a slice of pizza and she quickly dismissed me with«we don’t have any.» I’ve never felt so small. I hate this place. If this woman doesn’t want me or people like me walking into her establishment, she should be bold about it and put a sign out front.

Not only was the pizza delicious, but the owner Mike is a very sweet man! He cooked my two pizzas to a crisp but wouldn’t dare sell them to me that way. Instead he recooked two new pizzas and gave me the two crispier ones as well. 4 for the price of 2! He also let me try one of his homemade meatballs absolutely free! If you want quality dough and food that someone puts tender love and care into, then this is your kind of place! Choose Mike’s over those other crappy chain pizza shops!

I could forgive the sub-bowling-alley quality pizza I received when I recently ordered two slices of pepperoni for $ 2.75 each. What I couldn’t forgive was the trigger happy woman behind the register, who arbitrarily decided to charge me an extra 75 cents per slice, driving the total cost for 2 slices of truly mediocre pizza up to almost $ 7.50, when the price on the menu board clearly indicated the cost of a slice of pepperoni was $ 2.75. Maybe there was an extra charge for the cardboard-like crust, maybe there was a «carry out» fee. Or maybe she could just tell that I wasnt a «regular» and decided to take advantage of me for a couple of bucks, ensuring that I would never return. One thing for sure is that I would choose literally any other option rather than order food here again.

I swung through Arbutus today and decided to stop at Mike’s on a whim. What do you know? It’s exactly the same as it was when I used to regularly go there… way back when I attended the local college, UMBC, in the 1980s. It’s the kind of homestyle pizza you don’t get at the chain stores with the kind of service you can only get at a locally-owned business. Recently, one of the businesses down the street from Mike’s was torn down and renovated into something new. Here’s hoping Mike’s will stay exactly the same for decades to come. As Americans we’ve been sold on the idea of «progress» as if it’s always something good. It isn’t. Things that already work well don’t need to be changed. Mike Pizza House is one of them. I’ll be back soon and when I return, I’ll bring some friends. A local treasure.

Pizza is great– more expensive than chains but worth it. Closed Sundays, so no football with mikes. Also next door to a liquor store– pizza and beer :)

Old school pizza joint. Great employees and good sub shop food. Pizza is fresh with quality ingredients. Enjoy the sub rolls, usually get pizza or cheeseburger sub

I find myself in this area from time to time and because it’s near a college, there are about a half-dozen pizza places around, both chains and independents. Most of those pizza parlors are, in a word, terrible. The only ones with decent pies are Papa John’s and Mike’s, and if you, like me, would rather buy local and/or have«political issues» with some of the junk spouting out of Papa John lately, Mike’s is where you want to go. The staff and owner are friendly, the ingredients taste fresh, the sauce definitely has that tangy homemade quality(i.e. no sugary or chemical taste) and you can tell they’ve been at it for years because it tastes like the pizzas of my childhood, before chains took over the market, when you had to get your pizza from neighborhood joints like this. I gave it three rather than four stars because the crust is on the doughy side and I tend to prefer a more crispy crust, and also because the toppings, especially if you only get one, can be a bit uneven. For example, your pepperoni pizza is likely to have slices with one piece of pepperoni and other slices with 8 pieces. But if you are a fan of the doughy crust, this will likely be a solid four stars or above for you. And it’s better than all the other places in this neighborhood, which I’m not even bothering to review because I can’t hand out negative stars.

My wife and I have been here twice and both times the service and food was amazing. They really know how to treat their customers. Mike’s is now our«go to» pizza and sub place when we are in the Arbutus area. I cant say enough good things about this place!

You can go to other pizza places, even in Arbutus. But let me put it like this: Would you have the manager come out, call you by name, sit down and chat, cut a tomato and cucumber because they’re fresh, and serve them to you for free? Doubt it. And I hadn’t been in for months. That’s what neighborhood pizza joints are all about. Try it, you’ll like it.

I remember going here with my grandparents when I was like kid and I loved it! The food was always good and service I couldn’t complain about. As time passes though their portions get smaller and the prices stay the same or go up :/

The best pizza ever! I love lil neighborhood places and if they have great food like Mikes, then it’s even better.

Great neighborhood sub and pizza shop that has been in business as long as I have been alive. Homemade spaghetti and pizza sauce. Great for takeout, and even has a dine-in counter. Delivery available, and quite quick at that. Give up the mega chain pizzas and try something home made. You won’t regret it.
