Turtle beach! Turtle power! Great place to spot some turtles in their natural habitat. I was so thankful to have been able to see some out in the ocean just floating along with the waves and occasionally taking a peak out of the water to breathe as well as seeing one out in the sand taking in the sun. There was a volunteer out there that could provide you educational information about sea turtles as well as making sure that no one was too close to them. The usually put a red rope around them so that you don’t get too close but you can still get a nice selfie from a distance since those babies are pretty big in size. The water is so clear so that helps you to spot a few out there that might be feeding and floating along. I didn’t see anyone swimming at this beach and the waves seemed a bit rough so it might be a tough spot for you to go out here and try to snorkel unless you’re a strong swimmer. TIP: Parking is super limited here. We parked across the street from the beach. Be careful crossing the busy road. #15/2016

So there are no sea turtles their, we visited this spot and saw zero! The area was blocked off because of the high tides their that destroyed homes. Perhaps thats why the turtles were not their?

I don’t feel this is the best beach for swimming or enjoying clear calm waters, but if you are in search of spotting sea turtles then this is the place for you! We saw numerous over a few hour span and definitely was the highlight of my entire trip to the island!

I’M SOHAPPY; I GOTTOSEENOT1BUTTWOOOOOSEATURTLES!!! My vacation became complete. I was hesitant about coming because I wasn’t sure if I was going to see any turtles, and I knew i was going to be quite disappointed if I didn’t. My advice is just take the chance because the experience so special and breathtaking. Be careful of slipping on the algae

This was such an incredible experience. I loved that I got to experience this place with my niece and nephews. It was all of our first time getting to see sea turtles in their natural living environment. There were too many people so there weren’t any on land but they were swimming all over the place. They have some nature people there to make sure no one messes with the turtles but they also were educating people too. Great nature experience for sure!

If you’re ever visiting the area or just taking a stroll, this is a great stop. Once you arrive and step out of your vehicle, an instant fresh air and the smell of ocean mist. They say you can spot some sea turtles in the area, unfortunately I never see them when I’m there. Lol. But I’ve seen sea lions at White Sands. haha. Anyways, it’s a great place to come through after grabbing something to eat at the town center. But please throw your trash away. Be mindful of the environment and the animal life. Also be careful of the rocky areas and algae, you may slip. I used to come through with family and friends when I lived here, but now living in the mainland and coming back… makes me appreciate this area more. :) it’s a great spot to hang out and take some pics, but it’s a small area and there’s only a one way road. So be cautious here too!

Beautiful small section of beach. Unfortunately there were no sea turtles when we came here. I did some research and the sea turtles mainly like to come up during the summer or when its low tides and the waters are calm. It was high tides when we went and the waves were pretty strong. Month of January. Most of the beach was«caution» taped up, but we still went past it and climbed down the rocks. I did notice one or two swimming in the water but none were coming up when we stayed here for quite some time. Sad but oh well, better luck next time.

06÷20÷14(last visited) We’ve been to this beach twice. There were several turtles sunning on the beach and several more in the water that we were able to swim with. On the far north part there are volunteers that can tell you about the turtles. This is one of the better spots to see the sea turtles. The experience here is totally dependent on seeing sea turtles. If you see them up close it’s an excellent experience. If they’re not there that day there’s nothing really special. If you come during the weekend, get there early. Beach tends to be busy. Difficult to find parking and expect to be delayed on the road to and from the beach. City is trying to accomplish by attempting to ban significant amounts of parking across the street. However they have placed a lot of signs stating that you are not allowed to park there. For the most part people seem to be ignoring the signs and parking anyway. Police are looking to give tickets so make sure you have parked legally. Park on the other side of the road and walk a bit. Laniakea Beach on Oahu’s North Shore is a haven for green sea turtles. That’s how it got the nickname«Turtle Beach.» Volunteers, part of the«Show Turtles Aloha» campaign, monitor the beach and place red tape around the resting animals, creating«no go» zones. Visitors still get close enough to take pictures without disturbing the turtles. Get ready to sit in traffic. Nice beach, but really busy.

if you want to stop somewhere to watch the sea turtles hang out this is your spot. We could not take any good pictures because they moved pretty quickly in the water, but relax and enjoy they beauty that is Hawaii plus see these cuties in live action. Parking along the highway was pretty easy to find and just follow the gobs of people. It was well worth the trip. I would highly recommend. Super cute!

Whether you’re a snorkeler or not, this beach is a must see if you find yourself on the North Shore. The beach itself is not very large, and it has some very rocky portions. It is probably not ideal for sunbathing. It is redeemed, however, by the fact that there are always sea turtles lying on the beach! The turtles are protected, so you may not touch them, but please do take a ton of pictures to make all your mainland friends jealous. The water is rocky, and not ideal for surfing. It is great for snorkeling! The current can be quite strong, so if you aren’t a strong swimmer, be sure to wear a life vest. The reef is teeming with green sea turtles that like to check you out while you’re swimming by. I must have seen at least 25 of them in my short 1-hour visit. The rocks are covered with urchins, so if you are planning to touch them or planning to navigate the small spaces between the rocks, I’d recommend wearing gloves in case you find yourself wanting to grab a rock. An urchin stick is pretty painful. Other details: Like all North Shore beaches, the parking situation is not great. If you come during the weekend, get there early. There is free street parking, but space is limited, and the only road that runs along the North Shore can be very congested. If you can, go during the week or early in the morning. This is a tourist attraction, so there can be many people on the beach to see the sunbathing turtles. All the people make it even less ideal for a relaxing day of sunbathing. All those people also means your belongings should not be left on the beach. The good news is that there usually aren’t a lot of people snorkeling, so you’ll have much of the place to yourself!

Fantastic place to see green turtles on the shore and swimming just off shore. I lucked out last week when I stopped and saw 12 – 15 turtles. Some were eating on shore; most were swimming in the surf. Very, very cool to see so many turtles at one time. Sadly one moron tourist had to have her picture taken while she was standing right next to a turtle. No, she didn’t touch but the idiot was only a couple inches from the big turtle. Without the moron tourists doing stupid things, this is a wonderful place to stop and maybe see some turtles. As far as the beach itself, it’s meh. Okay but nothing special. Hence the reason I’m rating four stars instead of five.

This beach is famous for their huge turtles! I specifically came to this beach during my last Hawaii trip to check it out. I highly recommend to get here early because there’s only one route that gets you in/out. Parking is limited as well so prepare to walk a little. Do not come here and expect to see turtles everywhere. I was fortunate enough to spot one on the beach. They have volunteers that rope off from human contact because turtles in Hawaii are supposedly endangered and the government wants to protect its habitat. If you want a selfie with the huge turtles, you’re going to have to sit in front of the rope and zoom in! Random tip: There’s roosters on the beach too. Hide your food because they will walk by and start pecking! Yikes!

Best place to see turtles according to my cousin. They’re always here basking in the sun or chilling in the ocean. You’re not allowed to get too close because they’re endangered but it’s pretty special to even see them. There were a lot of tourists when I went but it’s not usually like that. Park along the street. There should be a dip on the side of the road where the beach is. Be safe, respect the turtles, and have fun!

So I was taking some visiting friends around the island and they said they wanted to see some turtles so naturally my response was, «oh you can see them at the Kahala Hotel». My other friend who was with us was shocked and said that they are easily seen at Laniakea Beach on the North Shore. I had never seen a turtle on the beach. I thought it was a rare occurrence but apparently turtles are frequently found to be at Laniakea Beach. I was surprised at how big and how close they were to the dozens of tourists. Parking for Laniakea Beach is very limited and on the far side of the highway. However, it was extremely cool to see turtles in their natural environment. It’s definitely recommended to take visiting friends to this beach to see turtles. I’m happy that I went but have no plans to return except to take visiting friends. See my very cool pictures!

Really it seems a little unnecessary to review a freaking beach. Sand, check. Sea, check. Sun,(hopefully check), BUT my favourite versions of these hot spots come with wildlife. This beach is noted for its basking turtles, which just hang out,(much like the seals in La Jolla), not giving a toot about the gawping humans… Awesome. You can see the turtles in the water and on the sand, and there are helpful volunteers answering questions, as well as signs in the sand, telling you their names, age, weight(seems a lil personal, but hey, at least they can blame the shells ;) The ladies I saw were well into their old age and it did a heart good to see them enjoying the sun as much as me.
