Sonny’s BBQ

We had a great experience here! Food was delicious but the service was the best part. Rose was the sweetest woman and really made us feel welcome. I would come back just to see her! We had the sweet tea, redneck eggrolls, sliced pork, and ribs. I would get everything again except the pork, it was a little dry. Overall it was totally worth the trip though!

Walked in before 9pm and stood ignored for awhile. Finally a waitress went by and said someone would be right with us. Then a bit later another and she said the same. They where busy trying to get side work done and had turned off the entry lights. I guess there’s not a manager on duty because they are ready to close. We left and went next door to Manny’s for better service!

Ive been coming to this Sonny’s for 10 years. Its a great BBQ spot in the area. The servers are always great and the sweet tea is delish!

I love Sonny’s food… the service is hit or miss and today was definitely a miss. Our 5 to 10 minute wait ended up 20. After seated for 5 minutes, our server appeared and took all of our order since we had time to look over menu. (Including the kids menu that my 7 year old had to fetch even after asking for one twice.) After telling our boys no cheeseburgers because we didn’t want to wait for them to be cooked, our order still took over 30 minutes and that was after I asked another server to check since our server was AWOL. As stated earlier, the food was great… at least the food that made it to the table. Never received our appetizer and had to ask for our side items. Never saw any manager and once I asked the server to delete our appetizer, she couldn’t wait to get rid of us. Another reason why I prefer driving to Bartow for Sonny’s instead of this one.

Still sitting here after a wonderful meal, service was friendly and prompt
Had the redneck eggrolls, were delicious, for my entrée I had the Babyback ribs, with coleslaw and Mac and cheese. All I can say is everything was spot on. My only regret is I didn’t know about this place last time I was in town, would definitely come back. New favorite place in Fl, whoop whoop

I was in FL for the first time and I was craving southern style BBQ and Sonny’s was the closest and cleanest looking one around our truck stop.
The staff was super friendly, which usually makes me want to order more than what I should, which I did! I had the baby back ribs (because they were the only full rack option) and I loved that they were not super expensive, I think about $ 15. They fell right off the bone and were nice and tender. I also ordered the slow smoked half chicken, which was not as good as the ribs, all the flavor was in the skin and the meat was tender and smoky but not really seasoned. The sides were wonderful, especially the baked beans, they were well seasoned and not super sweet.
I tried southern style sweet tea for the first time and to my surprise, I liked it. It made me reconsider my dislike of iced tea.

I loved eating here. Service was fantastic and food was great. As I’ve said before, I’ll be back,

Rose was our waitress, she was the sweetest woman I’ve ever met. So polite & always checking on us. After we left, we decided to make eating there a weekly thing as long. As long Rose is there, we’ll keep coming back! Amazing food!

There are two classes of BBQ joints, the ones that do one thing extremely well (and the rest poorly/​a token offering to appease the masses), and others do most things well enough. Sonny’s is the latter, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Sonny’s will never do you wrong! Don’t forget to get the crinkle fries – classic!
We were a party of seven and were seated immediately, by the super-​friendly hostess. However, our waitress, while friendly, was also forgetful. It took forever to get drinks initially, and then when she messed up the drink order, it took the same amount of time to get the correct drinks. The food orders came out all mixed up, too. We had to mix and match between our plates to get the combinations we ordered. Also, the appetizer we ordered was late. So, the service could do with improving, and that’s why they lose a star.
Still, you can always expect a decent meal. It was my first time at a Sonny’s in probably over a decade (crap, that makes me feel old, but in my defense we used to go a lot when I was like 10). And it’s just as good as I remember, especially the sweet sauce!
They also offer what I can only guess is a 32-​ounce beer which, after a day at Legoland, was a delicious refuge. Not a great selection, but Amber Bock will do.

Have nice place to eat good service. The glass of Coke Was massive and the food was great and plenty of it. If around again that way we call in

Just your standard America bbq place. the service was ok it was very busy and the restaurant is in need of new staff and cooks the food was very dry and over cooked.

Always great service and great food! Amber is awesome!!! Even on Father’s Day we were seated in 5 minutes, had drinks 3 minutes later and our food was out in 11 minutes after that. How dose it get any better than that!

Excellent ribs, loved the soup and salad bar. Service was great. Need to stop by Sonny’s while in Florida. Wish we had one close to us!

How can you serve and advertise ALL YOU CAN EAT ribs and RUN OUT?!
Meats are dry and need a whole lot of squirting of sauce! Also drinks were not refilled right away — Crappy service and messed up the order!
Never coming back to this place again!
4 Rivers still is #1 for BBQ!!!

My family and I have been coming here almost every year when we goto visit my grandparents in Florida. Usually it is very good for BBQ pulled pork, however this time I was very disappointed. The pork was dry and the bun cold. The sweet tea is still to die for and I tried the chicken wings for the first time and I was very happy with them. They were probably some of the best wings that I have ever had.

Love going to Sonny’s whenever I am visiting Florida. First time at the Haines City one and it is very similar to the others I have frequented save for a new more upscale look to the dining room. My wife calls it American Chopper style if that makes sense to anyone.
I got my usual beef brisket and garlic bread for lunch. The meat was well prepared and delivered not too long after ordering. Love there selection of sauces at the table mixing the Smokin’ and Sweet Heat (!?) for the perfect meal.
Linda took real good care of us as well. Parking is easy and they had a drive thru as well which I don’t think is typical for them.

The restaurant is clean and we’ve had friendly servers. Nothing extraordinary, so only 3 stars.
I’ve had the pulled pork and the chicken. The meat is nice and tender. I always get the baked beans and fries as my side items. My meal has always been good. Love their texas toast and love their sweet bbq sauce. I personally think Sonny’s has some of the best sweet bbq sauce there is.
Hubby always has the turkey and has never had any complaints. He generally gets the all-​you-​can-​eat. The only problem is when he wants more, it usually takes forever to get another order out and they don’t bring very much on re-​orders. The re-​order is only about ¹⁄₃ of the initial order. My theory is they are trying to make you wait for the re-​order as long as possible so you’ll feel full and won’t want anymore. I guess it goes along with that saying, «The slower you eat, the quicker you get full.»
The food initially comes out very quick, yet the re-​orders do not. Therefore, I think there’s actually some truth to my theory.

Very nice experience today. The four of us ordered all-​you-​can-​eat ribs, pulled pork and sliced pork. Delicious meats and sides. Nice ambience from a newly– renovated store. Awesome service from Amanda. Definitely returning to this location in the future!

I’ve been coming here years now & my experience always very from worse to good. The food always taste great, but the service is not always great. This restaurant can become very busy at times & this creates a long waiting time to be seated.
The menu is very diverse with wide selections such as All You Can Eat Ribs/​Chicken/​Pork, BBQ sandwiches, chicken wings, & other southern favorites.
The food portions are very reasonable in my opinion. I think 2 people can share an entrée. I would only recommend this place if you love BBQ & willing to take a chance to have good service. The food taste great & prices are very reasonable in my opinion. Try it out for yourself.
