The place is nice and clean. My son and I had an encebollado. It was good, but no comparison to Cejas. I guess I’m going to have to drive.

Finally a Ecuadorian place that serves«seco de chivo», daily. I posted a review for«Sari’s kitchen» about not having yellow rice, so next time i’ll be careful for what i wish for. Broadway ONLY serves yellow rice !! They don’t make white rice. So that is just perfect !!

I was told while having a quick lunch this location has been open for over 20+ years and still have the same 20+ years customer coming back. I had a craving for Churrasco, Ecuatoriano style. I am not Ecuadorian but I do enjoy this dish very much because it is very similar to a Peruvian dish, bistec a lo pobre! I called in to give them a heads I will be coming and I was warned about the different way they make their Churrasco. I was intrigued to find out and had my finders crossed. I arrived and I waited a good 10 minutes before lunch came out. What made the dish different was the meat. It was chopped in small thin rectangular shape with peppers and onions and pan fried– not grilled! Did I love it? Did I like it? let’s say I really prefer grilled steak! — Much more flavor. I asked the owner if the fries were fresh, he responded yes, however it didn’t taste fresh to me. The shape of the fries were to perfect to be fresh. On a better note, the yellow rice was excellent. Tasty and firm. It came from a huge rice cooker.- not a problem for me! I love eggs– well done sunny side up egg! Service was friendly but I wasn’t asked if I needed a drink, before or during my dish came out. I had to ask towards the end.

I travel to Hackensack twice a year… and LThe Broadway Deli is one of the places I visit… Very simple Ecuadorian corner deli… inexpensive…very friendly… I usually have shrimp ceviche, maduros(sautéed ripe plantains) and ensalada de aquacate(avocado salad). This time I had a batido de papaya con leche(papaya smoothie) With my meal… I took some ceviche to South Carolina with me… buenisimo

Por fin he buscado una tienda Ecuatoriana donde se vende ricas humitas! Wepa! Ever since I came back from Ecuador last year, I’ve been looking for a place where I can find authetic humitas(It’s like Mexican tamale prepared with fresh ground corn with onions, eggs and spices and the dough is wrapped in a corn husk and then steamed.) and finally I found a place that serves real stuff! This little Hispanic deli is totally no frills, simple, and far from fancy, and frequented almost exclusively by the Hispanic people and I was the only Asian here but I felt very welcome and the owner was very funny and friendly. Their sopa de pescado is amazing! Que sabrosa! I can’t believe it’s only $ 4.50 for this top notch flavor! Next time I wanna try their ceviches!
