Want a great down-home meal in Gunnison? Here it is! Great food, service, and prices. A local haunt for good reason.

They do things right here. Got a table right away, coffee within seconds. Waitress had the right timing with ordering and refills. All of the wait staff pitched in. Seemed like a big family. I ordered the western omelette with fruit and a biscuit. My partner ordered the Monterey omelet with hash browns. Lots of food, I could only eat half. The fruit had blueberries, raspberries, bananas, grapefruit, kiwi, strawberries And Rainer cherries. The eggs were fluffy and full of veggies. Not greasy at all. The biscuit was light and fluffy and twice the size of ordinary biscuits. This was by far the best we had in gunnison. If they were only open for dinner!

This was all good. I had the bacon, spinach, feta omlet with hashbrowns. It was all good. Ranch dressing is homemade. Hashbrowns were cooked perfectly. Hubby had chicken fried steak. He loved the homemade gravy and said the steak was not the normal frozen variety. We shared a fruit plate which was just average and the orange juice was straight out of a jug. But hubby was plased they didn’t auto fill his coffee, they asked first, he gets grumpy when they mess up his coffee to cream ratios. This was way better than the continental breakfast offered at the hotel. I would go here again!

Stopped in for lunch while traveling through Gunnison. This place doesn’t look like much, but we were pleasantly surprised by some seriously delicious food and great service. A special note should be made on this place providing vegetarian green chile and vegetarian refried beans.

Food. Had the Bacon Spinach Feta Omlette, it was dece. Home fries were deep fried cubes, not very tasty except after gravy and Cholula. Bisquit was large and fluffy, I prefer denser and buttery. Speaking of butter, get your butter packets out early to thaw, order your toast dry otherwise you get«MARGARINED!»(BOoo, hiss, hydrogenated!) Waitresses were On Point! Friendly and mindful. Food is just«Eh» …standard family restaurant fair. Next time I’ll try somewhere else.

Made a pit stop in here to fill our bellies and were not disappointed. My husband had breakfast and I went with a burger. Both were fresh and amazing, no pre made patties here. Definitely dish out the extra two bucks for the fresh fruit side, you will not be disappointed. Would love to come back if passing through again.

I came in town to visit my friend in Boulder a couple weeks ago and we took a drive down to Telluride for a concert. We decided to take the scenic route on the way there via route 285. Gunnison is about the half way point btw Boulder and Telluride, and since we left at 4am from Boulder, it was still breakfast time by the time we reached the W Café. I pulled this gem off of Unilocal and knew it was going to be a good spot. My buddy ordered the winning dish, the country fried steak. It was monstrously large and perfectly fried. Batter was a golden brown and crispy as ever, and the steak was moist and delicious. I ordered an omelette special that was similar to a Denver omelette. All ingredients were freshy fresh fresh. In fact, since Gunnison is so rural, it felt like we were eating farm picked ingredients. Either way, it was unanimously decided by my friend and I that the chef here knows what he’s doing and would probably succeed just about anywhere in the country. W Café is a MUST stop if you’re in the area and hungry. Besides the town of Gunnison, there’s really nothing else within 100+ miles anyway.

Never change this place. Nobody needs another fast paced, unfriendly cookie cutter chain restaurant. The servers are friendly, inviting and attentive. Food portions were generous and delicious. Has a laid back old school feel and needs to stay that way. Locals deserve a place like this and tourists should be courteous and tip generously!

Went here this last weekend and this is our second time coming here. The first experience was just as good as I remember my last experience being. The atmosphere is small town and I love it. The staff is really nice and they make that small town hospitality in the café.

We had breakfast, they cook the whole menu all day. My son had French toast, tasty but nothing outstanding. I had the W skillet, great portions and tasty. My wife had the hash browns with cheese, onions and diced ham. It had good flavor and large portions. The service was exceptional, the waitress was super nice and went out of her way to be accommodating. She filled my wife’s canteen and when my wife was going to get some vegetarian chili to go, she suggested to try it before buying it. She said it had a lot of spice and boy she was correct. Overall nice place to stop, tasty food and very friendly. Good value

Scratching my head at some of the negative comments here. Folks, this is classic roadfood. It’s a diner in a small populace. It’s high-carb and high-volume, which is why this place was full when I arrived at 8am on Sunday. Were this place in Tucson, there would be a line out the door for a half block(that happens at Bobo’s in Tucson and I thought W Café was better than Bobo’s). I had the chicken fried steak and gravy, with 2 eggs over easy and hash browns. It filled a large oval plate; I couldn’t finish the hash browns, and what I did eat kept me full for the remainder of the day. I didn’t want to risk the coffee, which at diners tends to be over-cooked, so I can’t comment on that. Bottom line. There are times when one wants to watch calories and eat a balanced diet. But for those other times… The W Café will fill you up with comfort breakfast food, and then some.

The food is what you’d expect from a small-town eatery, but I want to talk about the French Toast. It’s delicious. I would’ve added a star just because of it, had you not served it with the crappy, fake maple syrup. What’s staggering to me is that you don’t offer an upgrade to real stuff: customers have to bring in THEIROWNSYRUP! Really, I think you guys should make your own special syrup/sauce — maybe a butter-honey cinnamon concoction. Either way, your French Toast deserves better treatment. Patrons are encouraged to use honey and the blackberry jam(also effing corn syrup based!!!), and do the best you can.

Fluffy biscuit. Standard nothing special gravy. The gravy was peppery. I got it to go. I sat on the porch in front of the business as I waited. They brought it out to me in a with napkin, fork, spoon, knife, salt and pepper. It was in a Styrofoam container on a layer of tin foil. It was warm. I couldn’t ask for anything more. I ate it in the back of a van. It was B&G. No complaints. I was satisfied. It’s my duty to search the world over for the best plate of biscuits and gravy. I am ever searching. The sign for the business is great.

We were referred here by the owner of the hotel at which we stayed. It is a locals joint, and we loved it. Our party had breakfast burritos that could have fed all three of us. The biscuits were yummy and I’m not a biscuit fan. The service was fast and efficient. We’ll definitely go there again the next time we’re in Gunnison.

First and foremost… the coffee is great!!! Most breakfast places in America have the same weak tasting coffee that leaves you flat. This diner has great coffee and great breakfast. Service is five star, and food is priced right.

What’s not to love about the W Café? Except for maybe the half our wait in the every varying Gunni temps. Large portions, quick service, and friendly staff. The omelets are huge and cooked to order, the biscuits and gravy are my favorite, and the home fries are alway perfectly cooked and heaping. I’ve also tried the club sandwich for lunch, and it too was plenty of food and very tasty. Worth stopping in when you have time to wait for a table!

A great local diner to have breakfast or brunch. I had the smothered pork green chili burrito and black coffee. It was very good. One of the best I’ve had. Huge and chunky. Order it with extra cheese and green chili. Quick and friendly service. Full of local characters. Looks like it’s been there as long as Gunnison has. Girls beside me had biscuits and gravy. It looked fantastic too. Made from scratch and huge and chunky. Gonna have it for breakfast tomorrow.
