Called and asked if they had a large selection of medium and heavy saltwater spinning rods, they said yes we have several. I made the 2 hour drive down to them past my local Store to get a rod… got there, they had less than my local academy. very disappointed.

If all else fails three miles south. Got a nice 3×9×40 Leupold for a good price and the warranty that comes with it.

Big store. Located in the shopping plaza as usual. Sometimes the parking is packed and sometimes it’s not.
The store itself, as mentioned, is big. Regular academy sized I’d say. Usually clean and shelves are stocked to satisfactory levels.
The staff is hit or miss. There are TONS of young workers. I mean really young. Sometimes they are helpful and sometimes, you’re better off reading the box and/​or trying to find stuff yourself.
Other than that, I keep coming back here. Cheaper than Dicks and they always seem to have what I need.

I came here 3 times in one week, mostly because it is the only place around. Prices are decent, staff is ok, bathrooms are in the back, return policy is good.
I like the fishing lures section, it takes up two isles and the staff is pretty knowledgeable. I wouldn’t purchase a floundering light here in the future, they’re pretty weak. Go to Hubbard’s in BSL, one of the employees makes a way better product.

Another update.
What do you do when your store is staffed by inattentive kids that seem to rather be somewhere else than to deal with a customer? Hire more! Duh! As I paid for my items the other night, my little ditzy teeny-​boppin cashier never once looked at me, or even spoke to me. She was too busy chatting with another cashier across the way. The brainiac at the door when you walk in had the personality of the chair I am sitting in. That means NONE. Also, avoid this place on the weekend if you can. It just gets PACKED. I feel like I am inconveniencing the employees when I shop here.

Stopped by Academy Friday to pick up a few items in a rush. While looking for some items I couldnt find I asked some employees I saw for their location, what happened next completely floored me. The employees response was «that wasn’t their section», not I’ll find out for you or get someone to help you. For a business in the customer service industry the answer i received was akin to being told «thats not my job»

Me and my son enjoy shopping here. They have good deals on recreational merchandise and a huge selection. We usually buy our shoes here as well, they have good sales on everything all the time. I even buy my Polo Shirts here. They sell just about anything and it is usually good quality. Looking at getting a new grill and maybe a new pair of Costa Del Mars.
