My husband and I went to Sassy Bass on our trip to Gulf Shores. It was reccomended to us by our parents. We walked in, immediately got a table in the back. We were lucky because thats the only part of the building thats air conditioned. There is a live band that plays and sings. Very loud but good. There is a bar inside but it also has a family friendly feel. Food was really good. I had a steak and my husband had some kind of fish. Only thing that felt weird was the service. They are soo busy and dont have that many servers, So they are constantly running back and forth. We felt kinna sorry for her actually. Overall, I would deff reccomend this place(:

Practically no AC inside so might as well eat outside. Extremely crowded seating and food wasn’t very good.

As far as food close to our condo goes, this was the best spot. They’ve got a pretty good selection of local cuisine. The drinks are also good. The pain killer is boozy but super delicious. The service can be spotty so watch out for that.

This was an overpriced mess of food! Go into Orange Beach if you want good food. I don’t understand how this gets good reviews. Don’t get the carne asada fries! They were terrible!

Can’t believe some of these bad reviews. We almost didn’t go because of some of the recent reviews, but were glad that we did. With 7 adults and a 7 month old baby we showed up around 7 p.m. and although they were busy, we were seated in less than 30 minutes. Our server, Kristin, was prompt and friendly. Got our drink and meal orders exactly right the first time and offered refills at an appropriate time. The food was great and reasonably priced. We all especially liked the crab cakes and white fish po-boys and their french fries were different and tasty.

We came here on our way back from visiting Fort Morgan– great stop– service was good. We got there right before they were taking down breakfast buffet– our baby ate free and the kids at for about 5 $ each– I had small salad with grilled shrimp– awesome! Husband had shrimp and grits– had Gouda balls too bc of all the reviews saying how great they were– probably pass on those next time. Clean restrooms– great tea– neat atmosphere

Looking overall at rating we decided to give this place a go. We got in pretty quick around 5pm and our server was nice and knowledgeable enough to explain each item. We ordered grouper and snapper. Fish was overall pretty good. Sides were cold and corn was drowned in remoulade sauce. Daughter got Carne asada, I guess that was the first mistake at a seafood joint but it was almost unedible. Kids meals were very average. Beers were average priced at $ 5 a piece we also ordered a pitcher of margaritas at $ 25. Our bill was over $ 170 for 3 adults and 3 kids with a couple drinks, which I didn’t mind paying for quality, but didnt think food was worth the price even minus the drinks. I noticed alot of customers on way out still had plenty of food on their plates and I don’t think it was because of the portion sizes. Will not be back. I have eaten at some amazing places in past on vacation within region and this was not one of them. On the flip side the market in the other side had a decent selection and staff was extremely outgoing and helpful. Hence the 2 rather than 1. Will visit market again but restaurant was a fail. BTW if you get there after 6 then expect to wait over an hour. This is about the only place in area of 20 or so miles so maybe the moral of the story is if your after slightly overpriced food that is extremely average the go for it.

The service was terrible took almost an hour to get food for 3 people. Waitress hardly ever came by to check on us. Very disappointed in the food and service would not recommend this to anyone

Pretty bland all around. High prices for over-cooked seafood. The crab crostini was literally a few pieces of crab scattered over bread soaked in butter. The shrimp and grits was $ 17 for tiny shrimp and over-cooked grits topped with cheese that might have just come out of the microwave. The snapper had nice sauce and the Mexican street corn was solid, but all the sides seemed like they had just been reheated. The plantain and shortbread was soupy. I’m guessing they can charge so much for mediocre food because they’re one of the only restaurants in Fort Morgan, but I’d say make the drive into Gulf Shores for better quality.

Nothing special. We have passed this place for years and decided to finally try it out. The dinner was okay but we had to wait a while. The atmosphere was very casual and loud. They supposedly have live music at times but I couldn’t imagine being cooped up in there for that. Our server was very nice and prompt. She suggested we come back the following morning for their breakfast buffet, which we did. The first plate a grabbed at the buffet counter still had food on it, so did the second, the third, and so on. Someone brought out clean dishes and we served ourselves from the buffet. The food was cooked to death. The waffle casserole tasted like everything that was leftover from the days before, mixed together and cooked again with the addition of gravy and syrup. The sausage gravy tasted decent but had the consistency of oatmeal. Sassy Bass will do if you are staying out in Fort Morgan and do not want to trek back to town for food. However, be prepared for less than average food that is overly cooked.

The food here was 4 stars… but the service was awful — so 3 stars is what it’s getting. Our waitress was just not the brightest — I try to be understanding but when everyone has empty glasses and is missing food from their entrees, it’s pretty difficult. There was one particular staff member that helped deliver the food to the table and she was very rude. Tossed our plates in front of us… no eye contact whatsoever, mumbled everything she said. On the brighter side, I ordered the Fishin’ Grits which is mahi mahi over Gouda cheese grits with a mushroom cream sauce and a side of greens. All of it was delicious. We ordered the Gouda balls as an appetizer as well and WOW. Would come here again if the service was better.

I am a fan. Last time we came down this wasn’t here, and I was bored… My family likes to stay in the far deserted part of the beach. It is nice to have a restaurant/grocery store/bar/convenience store nearby. Thank you for opening.

Read some reviews and decided to make the trip from Gulf Shores. So glad we did! Great little spot. Gouda balls and jalapeño hush puppies were amazing. Sea bass, grouper, and mahi were all delicious as well! We will add this to our list of must-visits for our yearly trip!

Very tasty fried shrimp, fried fish, cocktail sauce and tarter sauce! Friendly staff and prompt service. Very casual and laid back. Hostess gave us a big sheet of paper and crayons, my kids loved it! Great mixed drinks too. Would for sure Go back and recommend to others

We went here while spending time on the far end of Gulf Shores. The restaurant options are few and far between. We went to this restaurant/bar because of the positive reviews, and we were happy we went. The place was empty when we showed up around 2pm, and we sat at the bar and ordered beer and a couple appetizers. Kathy, the waitress/bartender, was friendly and informative. She’s a local and was very straightforward. We appreciated her authenticity. We ordered fried cheese which was very tasty, and also a crab meat meal. The former was better but both were tasty. I would highly recommend coming here when in town. Also, they have an attached general and liquor store, so you can stop by there to pick up some essentials after you get your meal on.

A fun, eclectic pub with great food, friendly staff, and a chill vibe. Came here for lunch today after being here a couple days ago for the breakfast buffet(weekends). We had the same server, Deb, and she was great. We were here about a year ago and the place is bigger and more comfortable now. Live music a few nights a week. More of a restaurant with a small bar rather than a bar that serves food. Family friendly. Will come again.

Pretty excited to find a place so great near our condo at plantation. For years, we always had to drive to the city, and we always get stuck behind someone doing 40 the whole way to 59(don’t be that person). We just discovered this place, and we were pleasantly surprised. The only place we go to «in town» now is Lulu’s.

After spending a week in Gulf Shores for a family vacation the one thing I miss the most is Sassy Bass! This place is fantastic — great ambiance, top shelf drinks, and superb food. We stumbled upon this gem the first night we got to Gulf Shores and ended up sitting at the bar for dinner. The bartenders were hilarious and entertained us throughout the night. The appetizers(especially the oysters) were the best I have had in awhile and the Shrimp and Grits were out of this world. Our experience was so great that we ended up coming back to dinner two more times during our trip and both times I couldn’t pass up the Shrimp and Grits. They were remodeling the place while we were there so I am excited to go back and see the improvements next time we visit the area!

My family and I have fallen in love with the Sassy Bass! The atmosphere, staff and food are all top notch! It can appear a little crowded but it’s really not bad once you’re inside. Our first trip here we were put on the wait list to get a table but were told we could go sit at the bar while we wait. SO glad we did! All 5 of us had the best time! The bartender was the reason we had such a great experience. He was friendly and full of laughs. I can’t for the life of me remember his name… maybe blame the numerous amount of delicious adult beverages he made… I will post a picture so you can hope to see his face when you visit. We were excited when he asked if we just wanted to eat dinner at the bar. Of course we accepted the offer! The first night I had the shrimp po’ boy. Don’t bother reading the menu… this is what you want! I took the white sauce from the spicy hush puppies we had as an appetizer and added it and it just added to the delicious feast. My husband claims that the shrimp and grits is better but I will fight that till my dying days! Out of all places we visited this week long trip this has been our favorite and the whole family insists that we go back tonight for our last dinner before heading back to Texas tomorrow. We’re even going to have to pick up a Sassy Bass tshirt simply because we love it that much!
