The best wood fired pizza! And simply the best pizza is Jasper, Guild, S. Pittsburgh. Plus… the hand blended wines are awesome. Match that with the view and you cannot beat Lookout Winery!

Amazing!!! 100 stars! My husband and I stopped here with our 10 year old son while on vacation from Tampa and were welcomed as if we were close relatives. Delicious wine and pizza and great company. The Pizza and Tiramisu were the best we ever had and of course the wine too. Best night of our vacation! Family friendly. We will definitely be back and can’t wait to enjoy the wine we brought home. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality! Happy New Year to all the staff and warm wishes for continued success health and happiness in 2016!

We were on our way to Huntsville, AL for the Rocket City Marathon and happen to find this pizza place. It is a great place! Wonderful pizza, the crust is crisp and the imported cheeses are delicious. The best pizza near the Chattanooga area. We bought a bottle of wine and will be tasting it soon. The service was great, everyone there was friendly. The owner explained about the pizza and wine.

My boyfriend and I stopped here today on the last leg of out road trip from Colorado to Florida Not sure what to expect as we showed up around 11:00 just as they were opening. We got out of the car and saw the breath taking view of the beautiful lake and mountains, walked inside and didn’t see anyone so I peeked into the kitchen and found Chuck, the owner, who immediately came out and greeted us. He proceeded to introduce us to some great wines! Even my boyfriend, who has rarely found a wine he enjoys, like several of the wines here!(Yay!) As if this wasn’t great enough… Then came the pizza! OMG! Best pizza I’ve had since I left Jersey! Wood oven and Ingredients shipped in from Italy and the sausage from a local butcher made the Tuscany pizza AMAZING! Chuck was awesome! Very knowledgable and friendly. Made us feel right at home. We even got to meet little Antonio, the cutest little guy ever! We ended up buying 5 bottles, one of which we almost finished while we were there. Favorites were: the Italian trio Philomena petite Syrah\zin Rudolf red zin Pepino petite Syrah/cab Can’t wait to enjoy one of these at home with my boyfriend and a juicy steak on the grill! Thank you again, Chuck for the great afternoon!

I took my family here for thanksgiving. We arrived early and was told that we would have to wait when there was nobody else was even there. The owner was disrespectful and so rude we just left. We tried to ask a few questions and he spoke to us like we were below him. As we left he stopped us and didn’t understand why we were leaving. We explained and he was still being rude. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. These questions are wonderful until you post on your website that you open at 11 but unfortunately when we arrived at 12 you proceeded to tell us we couldn’t be served because you weren’t serving your servers and not the guests. I’m just very confused why you cannot serve more than one party. Also you serve pizza correct? Some individuals come for the food and not just wine. Also the owner was specifically rude when we tried to pay for our drinks couldn’t be professional and take the money instead insisted on dropping it on the counter. Good luck sir, I’m not sure how well your business will do when you cannot handle constructive criticism.

If you are looking for 100% quality wines and authentic Napoli Wood Oven Pizza, you need to come here! This review will probably be long because of the awesome experience I had! I was looking for a winery in the Chattanooga area. I was traveling back to Georgia and had a lot of time to kill(my friend was working late so there was a certain time I had to be at her place). It was the first winery to pop up on Unilocal.I called and asked for the hours. The gentleman on the phone was very patient and answered all my questions(didn’t know it was the owner until I got there). I was looking forward to going! The drive to Look Out Winery was beautiful! It was very scenic because you’re view is the Tennessee River and windy roads. When you get there it’s up a steep hill. But once you get to the top, OMG! The overlook is just gorgeous! As I entered, I was greeted by Mike and also Chuck(the owner). They were so down to earth! Chuck remembered talking to me on the phone and was really grateful that I drove all that way to come to their winery. Their tastings are $ 9.00 of 6 wines(I was able to try all 15 of them). If you buy 2 bottles or more, you receive the tasting for free. Here is what I tried(on the sheet, you are able to rate them-mine were mostly 4’s and 5’s): White Wines: –Michele Moscato– Loved that it was not TOO sweet, just a hint. –Antonio Riesling– My second favorite from the whites. –Gaetano Gewürztraminer– My favorite from the whites and bought a bottle. –Carlo Chardonnay(I don’t usually like chardonnay, but this was not as oaky and pretty good) –Red Cap Chardonnay– This is a must try! Very refreshing! White/Red Blends: –Salvatore Red Zinfandel/Moscato– This was the only one I rated a three, just because the taste was very different. It wasn’t bad, but I can only drink one glass. This is a wine that you can serve to guests. –Da Vinci Dornfelder/Moscato– Never would have thought for this blend to go well together. You have to try it to see what I mean. I rate this 4 stars. Red Wines: –Rudolph Red Zinfandel –Newah Merlot –Carmen Antonio Cabernet– My absolute favorites from the Reds –Vincente Petite Sirah All reds listed above were excellent! Rated mostly 4’s and 5’s. Red Blends: –Philomena Petite Sirah/Red Zinfandel –Pepino Petite Sirah Cabernet –Michelangelo Merlot/Red Zinfandel –The Italian Trio– My Favorite from the red blends, they only had a few of these left so I had to buy a bottle. ALL red blends to me were outstanding! Chuck takes pride in making his wines and you can tell he has a passion for it. Great quality and not sweet. Mike on the other hand was very friendly, approachable and KNOWLEGDABLE with their wines. As he pours the wines, he is very detailed and explains the descriptions well. Now on to my favorite part… the PIZZA!!! When you walk to the tasting room, the wood is displayed outside in the front of the building. The aroma of the wood itself was fresh and you knew you were going to have great pizza. A great selection of pizzas. I ended up getting the Napoli($ 16.90) — fresh basil, homemade San Marzano Marinara Sauce, imported buffalo mozzarella from Napoli. I had a glass of the Italian Trio, but there was another red blend that went with this pizza and Chuck had me try it and went exceptionally well! Word of advice… When you get the pizza, please get the suggested wine mentioned on the menu! Chuck really took the time to taste and test. He was very generous and had me try a slice of The Tuscany!!! Which had prosciutto from Parma, Italy, homemade sausage and a sprinkle of fennel. OMG! HEAVEN!!! I enjoyed it outside the back patio overlooking the Tennessee River. That is as good as it gets!!! I ended up getting 3 bottles of wines, a full belly and huge smile on my face! What an great experience!!! Lookout Winery is very laid back and I felt like part of the family once I stepped in! It’s a rare gem to find a place like this!!! I thought about my best friend and my brother as I was enjoying myself. I want to take them here and I will! They are 20 miles outside of Tennessee and close to Ruby Falls. This is worth the drive and I highly recommend you drop by. Words cannot express how much I love it here! Thank you Chuck and Mike for the excellent service and making me feel special!!!

Scenery was fantastic! Easy enough to locate. It was quiet the night we went which was very nice. Wine tastings were decent tastings and you got to take the price of the tasting off the price of the bottles. Pizza was delicious! Could have been cooked a little bit longer, but it was flavorful! Would definitely recommend it.

What a pleasant surprise. Admittedly a bit of a wine snob from the San Francisco Bay Area/Wine Country, the wines were very good. We tasted nine wines(all dry and not sweet) that were good. I have been to many tastings at wineries in the California wine country that I can say were not as good. The pizza was delicious! It reminded me of the tasty Napoli pizza joints in Rome. We had the«Tuscany» pizza(we wanted to stay with red wine) and crust, ingredients, the wood fire made it spectacular. The prosciutto and sausage were very flavorful and not oily. I am sorry I don’t live closer to return. The owner was our tasting guide and he was very friendly, humorous, professional and very knowledgable of wine and pizza. It was a beautiful sunny day and the view of the Tennessee River Valley from the balcony, while enjoying delicious pizza and wine, was wonderful. If you cannot tell by the above, we had wonderful time. This is my first posting on Unilocal.I was so impressed that I wanted to thank the owner and encourage others to enjoy the experience.(We were a bit hesitant heading out there.) If you live in or around Chattanooga or visiting the area, as we were, it is a real find.

Incredible pizza. It’s a bit of a trek from chattanooga but an enjoyable one. We took the motorcycle and stayed on the back roads, on hwy 41. Upon arrival, the driveway was a bit intimidating on the bike but we made it up fine. It is rather steep but takes you up to some amazing views of the river. Once at the top, there wasn’t a real clear«entry» into the place. We just kinda started wandering further up the hill. We saw the big outdoor wood fire pizza oven which we obviously wanted to go check out. It is positioned just off the kitchen. We walked past the oven and saw a guy shovelling pies. We asked him how to get in the joint and he pointed to the correct door. Once in, we were asked to wait while the lady finished checking out another customer. We were offered to have a wine tasting but we were there for pizza. We originally sat on the covered patio. It was Incredible. Great views, but we noticed the ginormous spiders hovering over us. No exaggeration, there were hundreds. This place is in the middle of the woods, so it’s expected. But we still opted to move out to the adjacent patio, no cover. Unfortunately on this patio, huge concrete barriers block the view of the river. They do not have fountain drinks so be prepared to purchase individual coke products, including water. That was my biggest issue with the place. I know they have water to purchase, but we purchased other drinks. It’s expected to have a glass of water with your meal. I wanted some water but didn’t want to purchase it when I already paid for another drink. Our server agreed it was ridiculous and brought us some complimentary bottles. Great service. Pizza arrived and it was great. I know others have commented on the plastic ware. No glasses or real plates here. They are on septic and a dishwasher is an issue. Understandable. The atmosphere could use a little help. Maybe some more ambient lighting on the outside patio. Currently only an extremely bright light, like you would find on the bathhouse of a state park building. Our friends couldn’t see our faces by the blinding light behind us. Also had trouble reading our menus due to lack of lighting. I’m sure the lighting is much better inside or under the covered patio. But… I have an incredible fear of spiders. Overall, we will go back. We had a great time.

The pizza is awesome, totally awesome! Chuck the owner greeted us when we came in and gave us the full run down of the pizza ingredients and wine. We didn’t want wine we just wanted pizza. We heard this place had good pizza and our friend was wrong. This place has GREATPIZZA! Getting there can be tricky if you take back roads. However, it’s a pretty drive if you do take back roads, 24 is the best way to get there. You really feel like you’re at a very cool getaway spot due to it’s location and the views of the river. We had a half prosciutto with sausage and the other half pepperoni. The crust was delicious, crisp and light. The sauce was fresh and subtle and not over powering. All of the ingredients were delicious. The premium ingredients translate into a pricey pie. Worth it! Some minor drawbacks: no ice if you have a soft drink, no cups(small wine cups which were sufficient), parking can be tricky. I’m almost certain we’d be back again!!!

If you like wine or pizza, you will love it here. Many wine options, something for everyone. Just be prepared it is not sold by the glass, the bottle only, thus winery. The pizzas were delicious. The views are great as well. We took many pictures. We are going back and taking our best friends.

this place is perfect for a half-day trip from chattanooga. the pizza was incredible(i highly recommend the shrimp scampi & fennel sausage pizza) and the wine was delicious(much better than other locally-made wine that i’ve tried). the owner and staff were friendly and attentive. my husband and i shared a tasting and purchased two bottles of wine, as the tasting is free with the purchase of 2 bottles, and ate on the patio. the view and setting really make this place unique. a very well thought-out, unique, and authentic restaurant and winery that’s worth the drive.

We were at Look Out Winery yesterday and had some of the best pizza we had every had. We had a chance to taste some wines and settled on a bottle we liked. The view was amazing and the service was excellent-the pizza came out very quickly, to our surprise. I had looked at the website and was a little deterred by some of the photos-it didn’t look too inviting inside, but it really is a charming place and the patio and deck are great. We had fans cooling us off. An awning might have helped keep the sun off us but maybe that can be added later. The owner and the server were very attentive. The one disappointment was the styrofoam plates and the plastic wine glasses. Maybe this is a temporary solution, but I’d rather have good paper plates. Wine in a plastic glass just doesn’t do the wine justice. I think I’ll bring my own wine glass next time, because we definitely will be going back.

First of all, the best way to get there is to take I-24 to exit 161 and make two rights(coming from Chattanooga). Maybe a mile or two off the interstate. Don’t get off at Tiftonia exit like we did and take the long, winding road. This is quite a unique place. One of the steepest driveways I’ve ever been on to get to the building. Several parking lots when you finally get to the top of the hill. Once you get up the hill and into the restaurant, the views are awesome. The pizzas(excellent) are prepared and cooked outside the main building.(Prepared in a small building apart from the main building and cooked in an oven outside the building.) I asked the owner if I could take some shots. He joked, «Depends what you are going to say.» My favorite pizza in town is still Portobello’s by far, but this is a good pie. The owner said it took him three years to build the place, which he needed to do before he could legally sell wine. Look Out was very busy, which the owner attributed to the article that ran in the Chattanooga Times Free Press within the week.

Pizza-amazing, staff-very friendly, what a great place! Dog friendly too:). My mom and I met here for lunch and it was exactly what we were craving. We had horrible pizza the night before so our plan was to wipe that out with a fresh, delicious pizza and we succeeded! Will definitely be back. Top 5 best pizzas I’ve ever had:)

Stopped off at this nice little winery outside of Chattanooga on our way back to Nashville, had dinner there after the wine tasting with their House pizza. Fantastic scenery overlooking the water in the mountains outside of Chattanooga. The owner spent time with us talking about the area it was very nice. The wine was also excellent.
