Most likely would never stop there if you were to «judge a book by its cover.» Just a walk up joint with some makeshift tables and folding chairs… but my oh my, Juanita’s makes some delicious food! I have been their twice, and it was EXCELLENT both times! Ordered the special, Carne Asada Burrito with a small taco. The Burrito is huge, and stuffed with goodness. Lots of meat, rice, beans pico de gallo, guacomole in an above average tortilla… Priced at $ 8.95, it is an excellent deal in that it is enough food for 2 people, though once you’ve had a bite you you’ll have a hard time sharing! Do yourself a favor and give this place a try! So gl ad I did, and I will be back again as often as I get a chance to be in the area!

Our favorite Mexican place! The owner is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I came one day and they were out of asada. I ordered something else, but she went ahead and made some fresh even though it was close to closing time. The veggie tacos are awesome with lots of avocado and sour cream. Carne asada burrito is huge and they have great specials. Prices are good, too!

I ordered tacos al pastor«as they come» and was not disappointed. I was surprised at the fresh homemade tortilla instead of the typical double-layer packaged tortillas. The medium sauce that topped the tacos had a decent kick, but did not overpower the flavor of the al pastor. The toppings were fresh and flavorful. I definitely believe the fresh tortilla set these tacos above others in the area. Note: best tacos al pastor so far Environment: this is a window style walk-up spot in the 7-Eleven parking lot. The patio tables were clear and clean and ready for use, although I ate in the car. They did close up shop at 7pm, although their sign said they closed at 8. Service: the staff is really friendly, it’s also worth noting that they only accept CASH.

I’m a vegetarian so I decided on the chile relleno burrito and damn it was the best burrito I’ve had in a very long time! I’ve lived here forever and never once thought about going here until now! It’s definitely very authentic and the flavor is amazing.

I don’t know how much Mexican food these reviewers eat, or how mature they’re pallets are but I was not impressed with Juanita’s. I had a tostada and the juices turned my tortilla into mush even with the 3 napkins trying to sop it up. Then there was this whitish yellow stuff called Mexican sour cream that tasted like mayo atop this soppy tostada. If this is an example of her offerings, you can have it. And one last thing, since she does the math in her head, be ready to leave a tip even if you didn’t plan on leaving one. Never more.

First time here, portion is crazy big(went with a California Burrito and Pastor Taco) and it would be 5 stars if they actually put guacamole in the burrito like the menu said instead of a small squirt of what looked like green sauce. Tortillas are awesome and glad I had cash because they don’t accept cards

After a co-worker told me this was the best places for Mexican food in the area multiple times I decided I needed to try it for myself. I have driven by this small building 100s of times and was curious why always busy. Today I went for lunch and got three different tacos(all under 2 $) and an enchilada. My favorite was the el pastor tacos. WOW. Flavor explosion. These are NOT your bland tacos. A little on the spicy side but you will not regret coming here. The other taco(chili verde) was great too and the green sauce had a very nice flavor. Lastly the veggies and food seemed freshly made and well presented for a cheap meal. Try it for yourself!

The food is 100% authentic Mexican fare. I had the carne asada burrito. It is huge! It could feed a small village. The beans might be canned. The meat was tender with a hint of lime. The service is on the lower energy side and not real engaging. The food makes up for it. If you want beer with your food, place your order and go to 7 – 11. They share the same parking lot. This place is a walk up and place your order. They do offer seating… Card tables and folding chairs. Give it a shot you won’t regret it!

I have been searching out Mexican food restaurants for fifty years and Juanita’s is the first one in over forty of those years to recover the excellent simplicity and complexity of those historic flavors. Her tortillas are homemade, tender, and flavorful. Her chicken tacos have just the perfect blend of cheese, guacamole, tomato, lettuce. And I could add salsa, served on the side, to ramp up the heat to my desired level. The chicken in my tacos was moist, tender, and perfectly seasoned. It was a masterful combination of flavors, textures, and aromas. Whenever I am in Pismo Beach, Juanita’s will be my first stop. Two cautions… One– cash only, so put away your credit card. But the prices are very fair. For a burrito plus taco dinner, a 3-taco dinner, and two bottles of water total was 23.50. And neither of us could finish more than half of our meal. Two– there is no indoor dining. The restaurant faces a parking lot where tables and folding chairs are set up for diners beside the restaurant. Order at the window and you will be told when your meal is ready. Paper napkins and disposable tableware come with the meal. If you want an amazing meal, a unique outdoor dining experience, and the blessing of Juanita, who does all the cooking, you must visit this place! Muy bien!

Their asada is way better then the carnitas. The home made tortillas really steal the spotlight. Still consider it the best in 5 cities area.

Best Mexican food we’ve ever had. Since finding this hole in the wall we eat here at least once a week. I crave it lol.

Ommmm tasty!!! We ordered the al pastor taco plate, a tamale, and the California burrito. The al pastor was more on the salty than sweet side, but still super yummy. You get three for the plate, with rice and beans. Judging by the grease coating the tortilla and the bottom of the styrofoam. It was amazing. I really appreciated that the tamale was more meat than masa. And the meat was so good! Not too spicy. Perfectly shredded. The California burrito was HUGE. Like… Huge. The French fries were a great touch to the glorious contents.

I’ve just eaten myself into a mild coma after consuming about 1⁄3 of my enormously large carne as ada burrito. The food smells delicious, it looks authentic, there is lots of protein(not a bunch of rice filler), and the tortillas are great. However, as much as I love salty savory foods, I found my burrito and taco overwhelmingly salty. So much so, it’s enough to ruin an otherwise great meal(or 3). Since this is my first time, I’ll give Juanita’s another chance to see if the food is less salty next time. CASHONLY!

California burrito! Homemade flour tortilla, Carne asada, guacamole, sour cream, salsa and french fries! Yum! Tortilla is thicker than your average flour tortilla and delicious.

This was just frickin’ good. She was proud of the homemade tortillas — they were awesome and super filling! I’ll definitely be coming back here as a regular. Had the California Burrito — good, good stuff. Full of French fries and carne asada that was cooked perfectly. =)

Again and again this place never fails to please. The food is great. A place you have to stop in a visit. Don’t be offended by the girl who takes your order. She doesn’t smile at anyone.
