Automotive Service Center

The 1 star is for the service of smog for our car… The old lady who works in the office needs to retire already! I simply wanted to know what info she needed to find a copy of our smog (obviously I didn’t have ours) she couldn’t understand what I was asking because she kept answering me with a question and proceeded to tell me it would me $ 20 for her to get off her chair walk to the back and search for it because her filing system consisted of I’ll file it in an empty spot somewhere anywhere … Needless to say she was rude I became rude and I’ll never recommend this place ever!

I have used this place for years for various services, mostly smog and air conditioning. I am somewhat of a gear head and consider myself knowledgeable about cars. They have always fixed things that I couldn’t figure out or were over my head. I had always trusted them, as they were family owned and I always got my cars smogged here. Last time I took my Audi for smog I didn’t recognize any of the mechanics and the smog tech was a new guy from Bakersfield. My car is 100% stock and has passed smog at this shop at least 3 other times. He was looking up info on another model Audi and refused to believe me when I tried to tell him he was wrong. He failed my car and I will not be returning here. Unfortunate to see a formerly trustworthy business that I used to recommend highly go so bad. I guess it really depends on who your employees are.

Got a smog check coupon in the mail from them (we live a block away) called ahead and asked «will you honor this?» «SURE» they said, took the car in as it was given to us by my parents from out of state, a lady with long grey hair said «you do not have your notice from DMV, it says on the coupon you have to have it» (no it does not) I said, well it cannot cost any more to smog an out-​of-​state car than an instate car. Her reply «Are you a smog technician ?» Went up by the freeway where a smog checking station did not charge us extra. No point in supporting rudeness IMHO.

Do not go here for a smog check especially of your a women!!! They told me I failed inspection and was going to need a specialty part plus labor totaling $ 240+ on order to pass smog. I told my husband who was working. He went back to this shop to get information spoke to ken the owner. ken gave him the run around saying he could give him the part name or reason for failure! He decided to get a second opinion and went to another smog testing place and the car passed no problem !! Women beware Ken will try to take advantage of the fact we might not know as much about cars and will just pay to have it fixed!!!

I always look forward to bringing my business here. I get treated like family, and know Im not getting ripped off. If only everyone knew to bring their cars or trucks here, people would not fear going to the auto mechanic like visiting the dentist.

I’ve been taking my vehicles to Automotive Service Center for several years now and have always received excellent service. Not much more that I can add to Harvey W’s review… he hit the nail on the head. I think Rey and Manual are very competent mechanics who will go the extra mile to please you.

It’s always hard when you move to a new area to find reliable, honest and dependable automotive repair shops. We were very fortunate to find this business 5 years ago and have given them our business since. It’s family operated with a staff of high integrity. They have resolved many issues in a timely and cost affective manner. I would recommend them for travelors and locals alike. No appointments necessary, but showing up early will help. They are very busy most days.
