Great little find right on the Grosse Pointe and Detroit city borders. Very laid back and a very welcoming little place to hang out. Have a small menu to choose from for lunch which is awesome. keeps it fresh that way. Coffee was very tasty. This place is great at keepin it simple and that is awesome… too many places try to wow you with choices… this place does well with what they choose to offer… my daughter and I enjoyed our nice little afternoon here and we will defiantly be back!

I have heard of this place but never new where it was until I took my dog to Platz and walked by it and decided to check it out. The place was surprisingly big inside. it would be great for a group to meet up at. but the only reason I am only giving 3 stars is because the selection of coffee drinks was not of what you would expect from a coffee shop I asked for a frozen coffee similar to a frap. and had to walk them threw how to make it. I give them credit for trying to accommodate my request, but if you are marketing your business as a coffee establishment you need to offer more variety of options of coffee drinks and know how to make them. Mine was not that good, BUT I will be back to give this place a second chance and try the food.

The coffee is good. The food is great. And the vibe is best! I adore this shop on Mack.

Great Organic Coffee! I just wish they were open more. It is a bit hidden and hard to see that it’s a coffee shop when driving down Mack. When I first saw it, I thought it was an office building. I live in walking distance so I decided to walk down over the summer. I was pleasantly surprised! It’s not easy to find organic options, so I was happy to see they offer not only organic coffee but also organic muffins and pastries and such.

I’ve been here twice. Once alone, and once with a friend and her son. Newly opened and very spacious., it’s still a bit unfinished/sparse, but you know what? I prefer coming to this place than having to fight up in the line at Starbucks or Caribou for burnt coffee… and then having no place to sit. I have to admit my expectations were pretty low walking into this place, but I came away pleasantly surprised! Things I’ve tried: Good Morning Granola Shake, a cappuccino, and a vanilla pound cake. Everything was very delicious. and service was always friendly. And like the other review mentioned, there is free wifi! I’ve only ever been here in the morning but since it’s open till 9⁄10 at night. I imagine lots of students come to take advantage of the space/wifi/coffee as well. There’s also a great play area for kids with a bunch of books. While I’m not a religious person, and I know this place is religiously affiliated — hence«Higher Grounds» — I am happy to support it anyway. I think it’s a great addition to the Park. You will see me in here often.

This coffee shop has moved into the former Blue Book building, and it has been renovated in an inviting way. The staff I’ve met is welcoming and the coffee is good. They are religiously affiliated, and I found their politics liberal and welcoming. They hold worship services there at announced times. They have some pastries that look good, too, but I haven’t sampled them due to my own dietary restrictions. I’m thrilled that they are here – they offer free wi-fi and are open 7 until 9 pm during the week. They just opened early this month, so I haven’t found a website or phone number yet. If you drive along Mack, they have a sign out front that reliably signals when they are open. This will be a convenient location for commuters going downtown or for locals looking for a peaceful place to do some work on a laptop.
