History

Established in 2011.

Located at Living art Tattoo, Gresham’s first and finest shop. Owned and operated by Aaron Solomon, owner/​Senior Piercer of Velvet Elvis Piercing located at our sister shop Jade Soul Tattoo. A veteran body piercer with over 18 years of Professional experience and the highest in standards from everything from jewelry quality, training, studio and piercing room set up, and asepsis. He and his staff are dedicated to bringing Gresham and East Portland the best of the best in body piercing and jewelry the world has to offer.

Business Owner

Aaron Solomon has been a Professional Body Piercer since March 1998. He did a traditional apprenticeship and furthered his education by attending the Association of Professional Piercers conference and seminars two consecutive years early in his career, and has consistently attended APP conference for 20+ hours of continuing education many years since. Constantly keeping up to date with the latest innovations and top industry standards the international Body Piercing community has to offer. He moved to Portland in 2008 and established Velvet Elvis Piercing, our sister shop Jaded Soul Tattoo in East Portland. A people person, and hands on owner you can find Aaron at the shop most days of the week still plying the trade he fell in love with so many years ago. With over 10,000 piercings under his belt he has the experience and knowledge that his clients have come to appreciate.

I took my 9yo daughter here to get her ears pierced today. Aaron took fantastic care of her and explained everything clearly beforehand. He made sure all our questions were answered and was just great with her. She was very calm and relaxed throughout largely due to his demeanor. She said it barely hurt and hardly even reacted at all. Her ears were only a little red afterward and 30 min later said she couldn’t feel anything different! Very happy with our experience and it surely beat my trip to the mall in the 80s with the piercing gun! :)

Came here the other day to get my nipples peirced and was quoted 110 dollars. I was all ready to go ahead and do it until i realized I forgot my i.d. so on my way home to get my wallet i got curious and looked to see if there was a shop closer to my house. I called troutdale tattoo and body peircing (which had moved to hogan and division btw) and they quoted me 60 bucks including jewelry! So glad i forgot my wallet.

This review is for my mother who does not have an account. I’m a woman in my 50s and I went into Living Art Tattoo on 1st Street in Gresham to get my first tattoo on my foot. The tattoo artist couldn’t even sketch the picture that I showed him so red flags went up but I brushed it off. He also said he wouldn’t be able to do my tattoo on
my foot and tried talking me into getting it done on my upper arm. I went home and thought about it and because I had a bad feeling about the guy and the place I changed my mind about having the tattoo done there. The next day I went back and told them very politely that I wanted my deposit back. They Pointed out that they didn’t give refunds and I didn’t make an issue about it or complain. I accepted that I messed up and didn’t see the sign that said no refunds. The young lady behind the desk then rudely (and I have no idea why she was rude to me since I was not raising my voice or making a stink about nout it. I did ask for a store credit since I wasn’t getting my tattoo there to which they quickly said no. I did tell them the real reason I didn’t want to get my tattoo done there, which was because I didn’t trust the artist talent of the guy who was going to do my tattoo because he couldn’t even sketch it and because he wouldn’t do the tattoo on my foot to which he became very belligerent and told me to «get the F_​_​_​out of his store!» He then repeated that a 2nd time! In all my years I have never been spoken to like that from anyone let alone someone in business. I beg you and implore you to seriously think twice before you ever get a tattoo at Living Art. Not only was this the worst customer service experience I have ever had but it is the worst experience period.

This place was awful. I went here to see my friend get her first tattoo and was not impressed. When we got there, the artist, Chris Martin’s, attitude was bad. I told him I was looking into being a tattoo artist for awhile and he told me not to be. He said it doesn’t make good money and that I should do something else. I would never get inked by someone that doesn’t enjoy their job. Maybe if he had a better attitude and did some better tattoos, he wouldn’t be so salty. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the other guy was super nice and the shop was clean.

So I finally got pierced by Damian! I had went in to get my tragus redone, but he knew enough about the healing process to advise me against doing that. Apparently it was too soon. However, since it was my birthday, I was not about to walk out of there without another hole in my head! Damian showed me is selection of ear piercings he had done in the past and I decided on a conch piercing. He marked the spot where he thought it should go, and it turned out better than i expected! He said I could change the spot no questions asked, but I trusted him so I just went for it. He had to use a 14g needle! Ouch! But it wasn’t so bad. He had all the equipment he needed and even had a dentist grade autoclave. Super cool. That made me more confident in his work as well. Afterward, he went over cleaning instructions and was very helpful and knowledgeable. I will definitely come here again when I get my next piercing!

First Unilocal review!
So earlier today I took my girlfriend here for a belly button piercing. Located right in downtown Troutdale, the location of Living Body Art is not too shabby. However, right from the get-​go it was pretty obvious that newcomers had to be very patient. We must have been there for at least an hour and a half to two hours total. The first 45 minutes or so entailed various speeches from the artist/​salesperson who assisted my girlfriend. She had to decline numerous times on jewelry that was way out of her budget (one piece was $ 105 and she could only afford over half that). I think the biggest disappointment was how many repeat customers came in and got immediate service. There is always paperwork to fill out for first timers, but that does not take a good hour. Lots of waiting. Her artist mentioned having to sterilize the equipment, but it really did take an overly lengthy amount of time. «Better sterile than farewell» I suppose,
Anyway, my girlfriend was able to score a really nice deal on a surface piercing and it seems she was quite happy with how she was talked through the whole process.
All in all, I give the knowledge of the artists there a 5/​5, the result of the purchase a 3/​5, but the wait time a 2⁄5. Nice place and intelligent people, I can see why their regulars would give them exceptional reviews.

I came to Living Art Body Piercing a few days ago for my first piercing. Damian was super nice and very friendly, talking me through the process, keeping me calm, and over all just great. The place was very clean, very sterile, and all around a nice environment. I will definitely be going back here in the future!

Honestly, the wait was crap, but my piercer was really attentive and super, super clean. While he was piercing my friend’s cartilage, he changed his gloves FIVE TIMES! I’m not even kidding.
Throughout my procedure he kept whispering reassuring comments (which became silly, fast) telling me exactly what he was doing and how excited I must be to see my «sick new tragus» after he was done.
I was really nervous, but he did a really good job calming me and informing me of all the info I needed to know.
Would recommend Damien to anyone! If I didn’t live 10 hours away, I would go to him for my next piercing. lol.

I got my first piercing here! It was an industrial and Damian did it. I was nervous as all hell because I have a low pain tolerance, but once I was in the shop talking to him, I felt much safer. He was extremely thorough with instructions and sanitation. He was also very sweet and patient with all the ridiculous questions my friends and I had. He really knows what he is doing and offered helpful advice for placement of the piercing. I had a great experience there, I love my piercing, and the quality of service and jewelry is worth the extra bucks.
