Well, I finally made it here! I’ve been meaning to find a place for waxing and this place always popped up as an option, but it’s hard to find time in life for self-care! Anyways, I was surprised by this place. It’s tucked into the corner of a strip mall where there’s a donut shop and closed Mexican restaurant, and behind the Vegas restaurant. It’s quite a large facility, with multiple spaces tucked within it for different operations — hair, facials, nails, etc. The woman at the front desk was nice. When I checked in for my eye brow wax, the receptionist told me that she’d take me to the«Relaxation Room». We walked down a hallway with multiple doors and entry to the different spaces for hair and stuff. The relaxation room had 5 plush lounge chairs that were AMAZINGLY comfortable and relaxation nature music was playing. I honestly would have been happy if my esthetician had been late! As it was, I was 15 minutes early for my appt and she took me 10 minutes early. My esthetician was Sarah(sp?) and she was brilliant. She took the time to ask what I wanted and then explained to me with a mirror how my brows should line up. I put my faith in her and she went to work. She was METICULOUS. More than most estheticians I’ve been too(and I’ve tried between 7 – 10 in the last 3 years trying to find someone as good as where I was before I moved). She really took her time waxing, plucking, placing oils and stuff on my brows. Very well done! Eyebrow = $ 20, chin= $ 10, and prices are all reasonable. Facials can be $ 100 for 1 hour and they also have massages, nails, hair, and more that they work on. I look forward to coming back and I recommend Sarah!

Today I called to get an appt for a cut and luckily I was able to get one with Lauren. I have never been to this salon, but I found the suggestion on Unilocal.Lauren was able to give me exactly what I wanted and work with me because I requested a razor cut. The cut was sassy and fresh and when I go to Indy on my next visit I would def. schedule an appt with her.

I really would like to know who gives Studio 135 a low rating. I’ve been coming here for years and have never experience poor service. Granted I’ve had the same hair stylist since elementary school, but many people I know who go there would agree with me. It’s always clean, the people are friendly and the prices are very competitive. My stylist is opening up a home salon for herself so I will be sad to leave this place for hair.

I had a horrible experience here. After booking a massage, I was talked in to a hot stone massage when I arrived because I was so tense. I agreed to this only to be BURNED by the hot stones. Physical blisters on my back from them being too hot. After complaining and telling them I refused to pay, they were not going to allow me to leave the spa until I had paid for the massage. POOR business and will never go back!

I’ve had two crappy experiences here and I will never go back. Here’s the deal, I’m pretty laid back. You might even say ridiculously so. I don’t typically get uptight, I am all about multiple do-overs and hey, everybody makes mistakes, yadda yadda. But this place is straight up shenanigans. Here are the two scenarios: 1. I go in one evening, explain that I might be a new customer and ask if they have a menu of services that I can take home with me. The woman at the counter hands me a menu and it’s pretty nice. It’s a sturdy paper, a bow at the top, highly legible, clear, easy to understand. I give it a basic perusal, thank her and turn to leave the store. ‘Wait!’ she says to me as I’m walking out. ‘Yes?’ ‘You can’t keep that.’ ‘I beg your pardon?’ ‘You can’t keep that. That’s for somebody else’. ‘You mean I asked you for a menu so that I could look at your services and start being a customer here, you give me one and are now telling me I can’t keep it because it’s for another customer?’(I kid you not, this actually happened.) ‘That’s right’. Then she sort of sneered at me and plucked it from my hand. I said ‘Well, I think that’s all I need to know, thanks’. That was just freaking weird. I don’t get that behavior, I don’t get why somebody would do that or why they would think I would want to come to their spa. BUT I DIDAND I DON’T KNOWWHY! it was a huge mistake! fast forward a few years and my normal hair person at my normal salon is booked and i really want some highlights. So, for some unknown and regrettable reason, i went to studio 135. At the time I had some red and blonde blocking with a bit of purple. When I went in I told the stylist precisely what I wanted. Want to know why I was so able to clearly communicate what I wanted? Because it was what I already had. I just needed a touch up at the roots. The stylist began by telling me that the colors I wanted were wrong and wouldn’t look natural. I explained that I know purple and bright red aren’t natural colors, but this isn’t supposed to look natural, I just want a touch up. She skunk striped me. She took red primer and bleach blonde and did alternating stripes. Who does that? It was 2006. Nobody did stripes in 2006. That wasn’t at all like what I had nor was it the colors that I asked for. When I saw the result, I started to cry and said I didn’t want to pay for it. I somehow felt coerced into paying for that hot mess and did. I then tried calling the manager and for weeks she would not return my call. What it finally came down to was that if I wanted it redone, the person who had originally messed it up would be given the opportunity to correct it, but I could not have another stylist or my money back. So I went back to my regular stylist at my regular salon and she fixed it. In 10 years, that is the only time I have ever strayed. It was a good lesson in how once you find a kick-ass stylist, you stay with them. Studio 135 is a ridiculous place completely lacking in customer service skills and, I’d say, trained stylists. I will never go there again and if I could get a negative star rating, I would.
