University Book Exchange

UBE is a completely different (and much more satisfying) experience when you’re not a broke college student! As an ECU alumni, I can’t get within a 100 mile radius of Greenville without a visit to the UBE. It’s a staple to the local community and a frequent destination for any serious Pirate. Arrggghh!

All those years studying at ECU, not only have I gotten my books from here, at one point I was also stacking shelves at this place. Just remembering how much the work is at the beginning and near the end of every semester, when students pouring in here to buy and sell their textbooks, was just pure madness.
Then again, I have always been able to get my books for cheap; being both Comp. Sci. and Bio major, I go through textbooks like folks go through toilet papers. Every year there’s new editions to the book, and every year the textbook on hand became worthless, even the bookstore on campus won’t buy them back; but you can pawn them off here, at least for a few bucks to get you some gas money home for the holiday.
UBE is a multi-​layered, multi-​compartment one-​stop shop even beside the textbooks; you can get all the craps your professor want you to get for Intro to Arts that you would never use again; you can get your Purple and Gold colors here prior to game days.

I love this place. Yeah, you can probably get some/​most of the stuff here elsewhere, but this place drips with nostalgia.

U.B.E. is a dream come true for Pirate fans! If your heading into G-​Vegas on game day, get there early and stop by. They’ve got all your ECU apparel and gifts in one place. Its usually packed on game day though, so give yourself plenty of time. Arrrggghhh!

All I can say about UBE is… WOW. And OMG.
I recently began my MBA at East Carolina, and met my MBA project partner in Greenville for lunch and to discuss our upcoming collaboration. Of course I planned to pick up some purple and gold while in town. We tried the school bookstore which was unexpectedly closed due to a power outage. But he knew of UBE which is near campus in the downtown area. Just look for the purple! Even the TRASH DUMPSTERS are purple!
Inside is more ECU gear than you could possibly ever have any use for. There is something for men, women, kids, pets and cars in here. Sweats, shorts, t-​shirts, sweatshirts, car decals, bags, pajamas, rain gear, jerseys, golf gear, purses, jewelry, Greek wear, temporary tattoos, car flags, dog bowls… There’s even a ladies section with shirts cut just for us.
The place seems to go on forever and ever. The prices are reasonable, probably better than what I would have found at the school bookstore on campus.
They have extended store hours during home Pirate football games.
