Cool place, younger crowd. Just had a beer so no food review. DJ was spinning 45’s which was very cool.

Should you stop in for a drink or two? YES! For me, a three star rating is a good thing, and really after writing I am leaning more towards 3.5 stars, once I make another trip to the Velo maybe I’ll bump it up a notch. Time will tell! The environment and feel of this place was awesome, I REALLY loved it’s hipster style of mismatching chairs, unique, rustic tables and vintage décor were enough to make the place feel like a place to hangout. They have a lounge area with a couch and chairs, a shuffleboard table(always a plus for me), and the place really felt like the ideal spot to bring a group to sit around a table and catch up… Maybe bring in some Cards Against Humanity? Drink and food prices are reasonable and the service was above average, especially in speed of delivery of food. THEYHAVEBOTTLEDCOCA-COLA another win, as the stuff tastes so much better coming out of a glass bottle… Don’t judge me. I would certainly say I will be making another visit to The Velo, but I must say I was not incredibly impressed with the food this trip. In the restaurant’s defense, we didn’t really get too dangerous with our selections, we had smothered tatertots, pimento cheese and pita bread, and a sandwich called«Oscar», the tots were simple tots, the pimento cheese and pita were good, just nothing to brag about, the sanchwich bread seemed fresh and soft, the turkey and bacon both tender, but it lacked much flavor, it came with a side of 1000 island, but it really could have used some sort of overloaded melted cheese or sauce or seasoning to give it a kick. The fries however were AWESOME, certainly made in house, sliced thin and came out still shining with grease(that’s a good thing). Some of the other items I saw come out looked quite good, so please don’t be hesitant to explore the menu for a bite. All in all I gotta say this spot is one of those hidden gems in Greenville and a unique place that deserves your attention.

I went here to meet up with some friends from home, and Velo Fellow became a great place for us to catch up for about 3 hours. Everyone enjoyed the drinks, and the atmosphere was lively, but enough for us to carry on conversations. Also, I ordered the Falafel basket, which was okay — not spectacular. In addition, there is only one bathroom with one toilet, so that was a bit annoying. Overall, a wonderful place with a unique vibe to hang out!

English pub atmosphere with what appears to be mostly a local crowd. Excellent fish and chips. Quick and friendly service.

Excellent lamb burger and fresh cut chips. Great juke box and all-around atmosphere. Pleasant wait staff and management. Always a pleasure to visit.

Cool space. Music in the background only. Good bar with a couple of large community tables and some booths. No TV. One shuffleboard. Service quick and friendly, although the place was pretty empty at 5PM. A few people came in while I was there and the bartenders were quick to see to their needs. Small draft list which somewhat surprisingly didn’t include Guinness. Fairly good menu. Garden salad with a house blue cheese dressing better than expected. Fish and chips very good — large, piping hot fish pieces atop a bed of thin-sliced fries(chips). Fish was a bit greasy though and that made a lot of the fries greasy. Better to serve them next to each other maybe? Somewhat hard to find if you go by the signs scattered in various places on and in the building. Velo Fellow is accessed from the bottom parking lot, under Mellow Mushroom and facing the river. Nice chess table.

Went for lunch and got the sliders. They were okay. I thought they came with lettuce and tomato, but they didn’t. They tasted a little bit burnt too. The fries were great though! And the prices were really reasonable. My friends had chicken fingers and the pot pie which were both great. The breading on the fingers was perfect.

Cool place! Food is excellent with good vegan/vegetarian options. Their soup is hot, and good. Fried pickles are great. Draft beer has a European flavor to it. A lot o bourbon and other drink choices too. Cool setting!

Sorry to give one star but this meal left a lasting impression and not a good one. Service I give 4 stars… friendly but I had to ask for coffee refill It wasn’t busy for 1:00 Sunday brunch. The cup of Joe wasn’t bad I expected worse for a bar My husband had the three egg omelette with chicken and vegies… the eggs were cooked with cold chicken and raw mushrooms raw bell pepper raw onion and avacodo and cheese and that’s it I had the ham egg cheese on croissant… nothing to complain about it was what it was. I will return to try the dinner menu…

We stopped here for Sunday brunch recently after a long walk from the outskirts of town. Upon entering, there was no hostess, but the bartender asked us to seat ourselves wherever we’d like. The first indication that this place was not serious establishment was the thrift-store armchair that came apart when I sat down on it. Not cool. The waitstaff was limited to one server and the bartender when she could break free, so the service was agonizingly slow, even for initial drinks. I don’t mind waiting for an entrée if I can at least have a beer in hand within 15 minutes of ordering it, but that didn’t happen. The rest of the service was also slow, and seemed to be distracted by a large party next to us and dropped glass in the bar area, and also just seemed to disappear for a while. The entrée I ordered(special cornbread waffle with chili) was nicely conceived and tasted ok when it finally came out, but was served up close to room temperature. If I believed the staff had the time or the inclination to prepare a new one before I lost patience, I may have engaged them. So, I doubt we’ll be going back anytime soon for anything more substantial than a drink at the bar.

Best Bar in Greenville. You never know what to expect people wise but you know you will always have a good time.

I got the sheppard’s pie and my husband got the bison burger. We had tasted their lamb burger during last years fall for Greenville and have been wanting to go to the restaurant since. Well we were NOT let down. The food was as good as we remembered. This place is not very friendly for picky people but if your open to trying something new and tasty this is ur place.

Careful with their hours! Apparently I should have called ahead to double-check. Their website said the dinner menu was available until 9 pm on Sunday, but when I arrived at 8:45 I was told the kitchen closed 20 minutes ago. Still: I’m leaving 4 stars based on past visits. Their fish and chips and chicken pot pie were quite tasty. The portions are reasonably sized and the service is friendly and prompt(although of course their promptness varies with demand). I look forward to eating there again — maybe in a few weeks when I can eat dinner earlier.

We ate there yesterday and had the fried green tomato app. And the fish and chips for our meal and it was great. The service was good and the place was clean. We will be going back again.

This is a hole-in-the wall sort of place that has a great beer selection and nice bar style atmosphere. One thing I do not care for is the food. I’ve now had several food items from here. The fish and chips being the best… however, if you want some good fish and chips go elsewhere like The Trappe Door(fish and chips are a whole lot better for about the same price). The one item that I was uterlly dissatisfied with was a buffalo burger that was meant to be a black and blue style burger. It was definitely black(charred and no spice)… in addition to being cooked very well done even though I requested medium, and was smaller than the bun all for around 10 bucks. At that price, I still had to buy a side. Much better burgers can be found around town for a bit less and they even will include some sort of side dish. My suggestion is to get food elsewhere. For drinks, this is a great place.

Beers on tap were all good craft beers. Bartender was nice with a well crafted hipster mustache. I had the Shepard’s pie, and it was good, but not great. Based on other reviews, maybe I should’ve stuck with the fish n’ chips. Atmosphere is cool, and pretty laid back. Music selection was great, and the volume was good for hanging out and having a chat.

So I was invited by a friend to eat here for lunch. Walking I realized it was a small, intimate and a bit rustic bar. The menu was a bit hard to work through, something about the layout made it hard to find anything. However, my friend told me that this place had a great fish and chips meal so I didn’t even investigate the menu further. Here is where I was blown away, this was by far one of the best fish and chips baskets I’ve ever had! It was a simple slab of fish, moist but not too much. It had a thick battered crust that somehow seemed light and airy so much so that I could have eaten the batter by it self. The fries were hand sliced slabs of small whole potatoes that were to die for. Oh and the tarter sauce was a simple recipe but oh so «delish»! All in all, I almost gave this place a 5 star rating!

Nifty place, definitely have to come back for a beer. Stopped by on our walk around Greenville for some early dinner. It was hot out so all I could ask for is water! The atmosphere is what makes this place awesome. I love the antique looking décor and how the menus are placed on the clipboards. Sadly the food I ordered was not up to par for my liking. I ordered the shepards pie with a side of their fries. The shepards pie was lacking in flavor throughout. The potatoes were bland and the meat on the bottom of the pie just tasted like unseasoned ground beef. The gravy was not bad but needed a little salt and a lot of pepper. The chips were not bad at all. I was disappointed in that we showed up around 430pm for our early dinner and the Eastern Feature was not ready and would not have been ready by the time we left. I really was interested in this and sadly had to choose the shepards pie. I will not count this place out because the décor and the I want to try an Eastern Feature.

This is one of my ride or die places. I’ve been here many times. I have had almost everything on the menu. My favorites are the Baked Brie with fruit, fish & chips, chips with Bleu cheese crumbles on top of it, and their dejourner lunch special. They are open for Sunday brunch. If you go, ask Walker to make you a Bloody Mary because his are the best. I love the people that work here and they’re always playing cool music.

Let me start by saying that every experience I’ve had with bartenders and servers here has been extremely pleasant. Additionally, I visited when they first opened and wasn’t impressed with the food; several visits later, I can attest to the fact that they’ve got their menu down and every appetizer and sandwich I’ve had here has been delicious. They have a good beer selection as well; it’s no Barley’s, but it’s certainly one of the better selections downtown. My issues with Velo Fellow rest with its seating and bathroom situations. While the tables in the middle of the restaurant are eclectic and comfortable, the church-pew style booths and the high top tables are a nightmare to sit in. I love the way the restaurant looks, yes, but I don’t want to drink my beer feeling like I’m sitting in church, or, at 5’8″, not be tall enough to get comfortable at the too-tall high tops. As for the bathroom, one restroom for the entire restaurant may be up to code, but it’s not comfortable when you’re three deep in line even on slow nights. To end on a positive note, their music selection is great, and they’ve got the volume just right as well.(I mean that honestly; it’s loud enough to hear and enjoy while quiet enough to allow normal conversation with those around you.)
