They have a lot of the books but not as big of a selection on the books I like to read. I still found a book I’ve been wanting for like 9 $ and it was 20 $ at 2nd and Charles. They usually give you pretty good credit for things you trade. They employees are very helpful and friendly. I’m going to start shopping there more.

I came here on a whim after visiting a friend over the Christmas holidays, and like I’m wont to do, I looked up a nearby bookstore on my way out. This place had good reviews and wasn’t far, so that’s all I needed to hear, really. It’s easy to find, and in a very large parking lot that is shared with other businesses. While not very impressive from the outside, once I went inside and saw the layout of the store, my nerdy bookness took over. It’s a very well organized, very tidy bookstore. Sometimes this kind of layout works for bookstores, and sometimes it doesn’t. I actually prefer a hectic, dusty environment because there are usually so many great gems hidden about. But the trade off, naturally, is that it’s harder to find a particular author or book in a helter skelter store. I came here, not know what to expect, and I spent close to 2 hours here. I wasn’t looking for anything in particular, just browsing, but nonetheless I found a ton of books I ended up purchasing. And that’s a huge factor for me in determining how much I enjoy a bookstore. I think I spent close to 50 – 60 $ here, and ended up getting about 18 – 20 books. I even found some autographed Mouse Guard comic books(mini graphic books?) that I ended up buying as a Christmas gift for a friend! A few books I got: Plague Dogs(hardback, Richard Adams), Shardik(large softcover, Richard Adams) House of Leaves(large softcover, Mark Z. Danielewski), The Once and Future King,(soft cover T.H. White), and a bunch more spanning from writers in the 1920s to 2013. PROS: Easy to find, lots of parking. Clean interior. Huge selection of books ranging from cookbooks to sci fi, fantasy to historical fiction. Reasonably priced. I got a few hardbacks and recent soft covers for around $ 4 – 5 and older soft covers for as little as $ 1.25. CONS: None of the specific authors I looked for had books there(Kerouac, Ginsberg, or Murakami) Slim record selection, but I came here for books, so the record browsing was just a bonus. THEVERDICT: This is a great medium-sized bookstore, with plenty of books, movies, records, etc. to browse. Make a lazy afternoon of it, and I’m sure you won’t walk out with at least one item. Like every used book store, the inventory changes on a weekly basis, so make sure to come back from time to time and see what’s new. The staff was helpful, while also being aware of my space. They politely asked if I needed help, but didn’t push or bother me when I was focused on browsing. Also, I think you can tell when a bookstore has workers/managers that actually read the material. Usually, the book selection is meatier or has more avant guard books. I think if you work at a bookstore, you should have some passion about reading, otherwise what’s the point of being there? And the staff here seems to have that passion. RECOMMENDEDFOR: If you don’t have a particular book in mind, and you just want to browse around.

I have had a love affair with books my whole life, so walking into Mr. K’s was awesome. I would recommend going when you have time to browse, because they have 1000’s of books. The staff is friendly and will point you in the right direction, which is great since the store is so large. My son even found games and comic books. Something for everyone and you won’t go broke getting something to read.

I’ve always driven by this place, but never went inside. My sister,(who lives in FL) wanted to look for books for her son. We walked in, and wow. Their selection is unbelievable. Super friendly staff, and you can not beat the prices. My sister ended up walking out with literally 40+ books for around $ 60. I walked out with a few books and some DVDs and only spent about $ 20. I will most definitely be coming back, and she will as well.

It’s a huge place with a ton of used books, although selection depends on what’s being traded in. The friendly staff push it up in my opinion. They also have DVD’s and video games. The selection is well organized. I guarantee you can find something of interest!

Clean, organized(fairly), simple, and reasonable. Helpful staff. Love that it doesn’t have that big corporate coldness like another nearby store!

Nice used book store located in Verdae Village. It also sells plenty of movies, music CDs and video games. Thing is, there isn’t a lot of stuff sometimes. However, an employee was actually chasing after his customer and politely told him how much the item he returned was worth. Now, that’s what I call«courtesy». He asked me if I needed help when walking past him. I only looked at video games, and for my enjoyment I seen a copy of ‘Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram’ for Dreamcast(although I don’t have a DC anymore) and ‘Silhouette Mirage’ for the PlayStation 1. :D Overall, I like Mr. K’s better than 2nd& Charles(up the road) as far as service goes. I might come back.
