Delicious, authentic, cheap and quick. Not sure what ethnicity this place is – someone told me Honduran, pupusas are Salvadoran, but there were«Costa Rica» signs in the place. Whatever it is, it’s phenomenal. Had the pupusa de chicharon, queso y feijoles(pork, cheese, beans), and pupusa de loroco y queso(cheese and a little green floral bean native to El Salvador). Will definitely be back to try more. On Cedar Lane Rd(SC183) on the left just after you cross over Blue Ridge Dr(SC253). Five minutes from DT Greenville. Less than that from Cherrydale.

Leaving Greenville heading east up into the mountains, this place jumped out: a pupusa joint in anonymous Berea, SC. I don’t eat breakfast, but it was 11am, and the prospect of pupusas was irresistible. I’ve had them in Madison, Minneapolis, and Vegas, and always was swept into heaven. The place is spic & span. All other pupusa joints I’ve been to have had some minor to major grungy aspects, and horrible lighting. This place was bright, fresh, sweet as candy. She said that it would be 10 minutes. No problem, It was a delight wandering the aisles, and seeing canned and jarred things I’ve never seen before: Salvadoran, Costa Rican, and Colombian. I’m posting the pictures. They also had plantain chips in all different flavors and forms(including long, dry, and banana-like). They had dried Columbian cheese, and coconut pop, et. al. Jalapeño tuna? I got the pupusas to go(one chicharron & queso; one frijole & queso; $ 2 each, no tax) but first juiced them up with hot sauce, and then ate them off the pax seat of the rental car. I thought I would only have a couple bites, but they were too incredible. That griddled soft corn/masa, and the melting, richly flavorful fillings. What an incredibly perfect lunch, dinner, snack, little bit of heaven. I tried to Google them, but there is barely anything but an address. It is on Cedar Lane Rd. heading into Berea, SC from Greenville, SC.
