I am the proud owner of a hot tub, having just received it as a birthday present in September. I’ve never had one before, so it has been a learning experience for me. Figuring out what chemicals to add and when, how to keep things balanced and understanding how it all works is a process. Sometimes the user manual and Internet are helpful, but sometimes not and I need assistance from the experts. There is another pool and spa dealer very close to my home but I chose not to visit them on this day due to them being closed on Sunday and their employees not being very knowledgeable. I went to Leslie’s in hopes that they might be better. What I needed was fairly basic: just some bromine and a Ph increaser. I also needed a new filter as I have dry and cracked hands and the cleaning chemicals aggravate the cuts and make them worse. Leslie’s closes at 5 on Sunday’s and I arrived at 4:40, plenty of time to get the basic items needed. There were no other customers in the store at this time and one employee was working. I explained what I needed and he led me to the area. I described a product that I typically get and although it is a different brand at their store, I assumed he could find something similar in their brand. Not the case. Nor was he willing to research it. I attempted to do it myself but as I am unfamiliar with the chemicals, I couldn’t do so. He just sort of stood there looking around. I gave up on that and said I needed a filter. I haven’t bought a new filter yet but knew the make and model of my spa and thought he could enter that information and lead me to the correct one. Wrong again. He told me to look at the current filter I have for a number and I could return another time to purchase it. I am giving them three stars due to the fact that they are open on Sunday and the chemicals I did purchase were much more affordable than the ones I have gotten elsewhere. However, if I choose to return to Leslie’s, and my advice to anyone who does go there for pool and spa products, is to know exactly what it is that you need. You will not get much, if any, assistance with determining what is needed.
