Was staying at a local hotel and decided I wanted a facial. The hotel spa was booked so I looked nearby and found AcuMed Spa did facials so made an appointment. When I arrived I was surprised by the paperwork and health questions, but then Amy(the owner) explained with my facial I also got acupuncture treatment. She would automatically provide acupuncture for the face,(she said to rejuvenate skin and reduce wrinkles), but also she could treat any other area I wanted. I had never had acupuncture, so was surprised by the things she could treat — many general kinds of things like weight loss, quit smoking, well-being, etc. as well as common ailments such as diabetes. She told me to write down my complaint list and she would address them all! The facial was very nice and acupuncture was added bonus. The décor was nice, music calming and was a nice experience!

I was thrilled to see AcuMed Spa open on Pelham Road — just minutes from my house! Although I’ve been in search of an acupuncturist for years, I just never ended up going to one — until today! Amy is AWESOME. Upon arrival, she went thoroughly through my forms and health history. We went through it all and she drew pictures(I’m SO visual) explaining everything in my body works in a domino effect and how Chinese medicine, acupuncture & herbs could help different things. I had been on a prolonged raw foods/vegan diet and asked for her guidance in my next steps in maintenance after a substantial amount of weight loss. She was able to use her expertise to tell me how I needed to alter my raw diet to more of a paleo type for more nutrients and minerals too. Again — I really appreciated her time, knowledge, guidance and all of her great suggestions. Next onto the table to become a human pincushion and work on some of my issues. Didn’t feel one needle. Had about 30 minutes of quiet nap time & then it was time to go. I have already made my follow up for 2 weeks for checkup. Is it weird to look forward to going to see your acupuncturist? Bottom line: You will love Amy. And her sweet dog named Milo. During May, the first acupuncture visit is only $ 59! Her office is clean, quiet and she is great. I cannot Unilocal enough.

Back aches, tough knots on your shoulders, migraines, head aches sound familiar to you? I know the feeling all to well. After my masseuse recommended I try acupuncture, I looked around and a friend of mine recommended an acupuncturist she had previously gone to, the introductory fee was $ 20! Since I’ve never tried acupuncture before I figured I would try it out. Well for $ 20 i guess that was enough to cover one side of my body(which felt great), but I still had a headache and the right side of my body still felt tight. I told him about my headache and instead of taking care of it he scheduled me for another appointment that was schedule the following week!!! For 4 days the left side of my body felt great, but the right side was tense and the headache was still lingering I finally decided to not wait till the weekend and searched Unilocal for an acupuncturist. I am so glad I did!!! I found Amy! I called her to schedule an appointment, fortunately for me, she was able to see me the next day. On my first visit she talked to me to get a sense of my diet, my daily activities and ailments. She then explained her process for treating me and asked me if I had any questions. She used a combination of massage and acupuncture to ease the knots out of my shoulders, and after the first visit I actually felt great all over! My body felt more balanced and my headache went away! I was so glad that she actually listened to me and did not send me off lopsided like that other acupuncturist. I would recommend Amy Suplee any day… she is professional and does everything she can to help you on your first visit.

Hello South Carolina Unilocalers! Amy has left us in Hawaii, so I find myself short of an awesome acupuncturist/masseuse… but her good work should follow her, so i’m bringing my review from before here to pass on the good word! :) Went in for my pulled hamstring & funky shoulder issue. Basically slightly limped in, thanks to a week full of teaching martial arts on a gimpy hamstring, but walked out feeling freakin’ great. Not going to kick as hard as I can just yet, but I have full range of motion in my leg & it doesn’t even hurt to lightly kick or to put weight on the leg. BIG difference from before when it hurt all the way down to my foot just from sitting on it. Amy is very professional & laid back, its not intimidating to go in for the first time at all. It’s a small place, but theres no oogie«oh crap, wtf did I just walk into» vibe that some places can give you. She’ll gladly answer any questions & concerns nicely too. Oh, and no, the needles don’t hurt going in… just in case you’re wondering! I’m definitely going to go in at least once a month for«maintenance» if not more! My only regret is not going sooner. Coulda saved myself a lot of grief!
