I find it deplorable that Sam’s Club in Greensburg charges 15 cents more per gallon(based on today’s price) for premium gas then the Sam’s Club in West Mifflin. Why am I paying for a membership when they do not offer me the same discount in my area. I have compared prices inside as well and have not found significant enough savings to justify the cost of a membership. There are enough comparable products at Walmart that you don’t need to pay for a Sam’s Club membership to save money on your grocery and household shopping items.

I much prefer CostCo to Sam’s Club, but the closest CostCo is 45+ minutes away in Pittsburgh, so when Groupon offered a discounted membership here, I jumped on it. Prices are good on a lot of things, and not so good on others. I found some great pillows and bedding at this location when I first got here; I slept on a mattress purchased here for several months, and it was actually great. The meat and produce section seems pretty good, but the frozen section is hit and miss, and surprisingly lacking in vegetables. I haven’t explored the middle of the store too much yet, but it seems pretty well-stocked with the usuals. Gas prices are low for the area which is always appreciated. Not my go-to for day-to-day shopping, but nice to have in town.

Avoid this Sam’s Club if at all possible. I know if you live out this way, it’s the only one around though. They don’t have all the items you need, and their prices are higher than Monroeville, or any other Pittsburgh Sam’s. Especially if you are a small business, like myself, and are getting a big order, if their price is $ 1-$ 2 more for an item, and you’re buying 50 of that item, then you’re spending an extra $ 50. The head manager there will price match if you are buying in bulk(presumably because it makes his numbers look good), but if he’s not there and you ask for a price match, his lackey’s will treat you like you’re an idiot, talk down to you, and tell you they don’t price match anything. I understand if they themselves don’t have the power to price match, but don’t be rude about it. I avoid this one if at all possible, but sometimes my business takes me out that way, and it’s more convenient than driving to Monroeville.

Typical Sam’s Club. Okay if they have what you want. I usually end up supplementing my shopping with a trip to Giant Eagle on the other side of route 30. On my last trip, these are items that they did not have, but should have. No water in gallons, poor selection of energy drinks, poor selection of coffee, no air fresheners to speak of and poor selection of disposable razors. This Sam’s Club long abandoned most of the automobile items(looks like all the carry is tires and batteries). Additionally I was harassed by someone trying to see me a high-def television that I did not want. Cash register attendant was more interested in gossiping with the other employees than ringing my order. Two stars as it was less than what I wanted or expected.

Find most items that we use and in a convenient size unlike Costco where we had to buy the mega size to realize value.
